How do we decide who is Iranian?

I was reading the blog about arrest of six Bahai's in Iran, then I glanced over comments, and it caught my eye.

This" Irandost"person wrote:

""These people are not obeying the law. Is that a problem, It is for other people. Government job is to use the fundations that set up with majorty and respond to those whom they don't want to follow it.
They have choice to leave our country. They have done that. If they want to stay there, they either have to work with other 90% and change the law.
Otherwise, they are just whinning and complaining. I asked on my first posting, you should allow this thing play out.
Ok, let's assumed, they are right 200 or so of these people has been killed due to breaking the law and let's say, there 300,000 of them.
That is small % of them. It will match with same % of general population whom are criminals. You are telling me there are 0 crimnals on this population. They are all innocents and best citizen of country. I tell you odd is against that statement.
They are just too loud. This small % of criminal exist on all the societies.""

Please read it ,and tell me if I am being considered an Iranian ?I have a dilemma!! Since I have a handful of dust from the city that my father was born and it was sent to me by my brother as a gift to accompany my body in my final resting place. It was an statement by him indicating that my dust should get mixed with the dust of my beloved hometown and country.

Now this person has the nerve to call me an outsider! Am I really an outsider because I am a Bahai?

Respectfully,

Tahirih

No you are not a Kafar - the guy is ignorant and he is the Kafar

by hanna (not verified) on

I don't know where my response is to this Irandost or as Mona said Iran DOZD!! People have said worse things than decrepit and mentally defunct - where is my response JJ?

Neither Tahirih, or anyone else has to prove anything. You know who does the greatest damage to Islam and Iran, individuals like IRAN DOZD!! We need to rip off the religious mask of these people who are preaching everything which is not the teachings of Islam and the saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and are giving Iran a very bad and negative name in the world community!!

Individuals like Iran Dozd are neither Iranian, or Muslim. They are alien to us all.

Mona - So what?

by irandost (not verified) on

Mona,
So what, it is the fact. You want to change the fact as stated in Islam.
What now, you want to change the Islam too. I just provided you with the fact.
In this case, not only all Iranian, but also 1 billion muslems consider you Kafar. There is no "if and But". You told me, you have converted from Islam to another believe. I told you, you consider "kafar" based on Islamic Rule.
As I mentioned to you, your logics and wordings work for bunch of 16 years old kid. But it has little or no effect on adults.
You need to accept the fact and look at yourself at mirror.
Tell us, what is your true intention with posting all these stuff about "Baha'i". You are trying to convert people or you want people feel sorry for your kind? What is it? Tell us the truth.

Mona and Tahirh, According to rule of Islam. You are consider Kafar since you change your religion from Islam to something else. You choose another what so call religion despite the fact on Holy Koran, Islam consider as final holy religion from God and Hazrat Mohammad (Salavto Alleyh) was last Pyambar of holy god.

Why you are not Iranian

by irandost (not verified) on

For rest of you,
You are not an Iranian any more for following reasons:
1. Your only link to Iran is your monthly call to your parents.
2. Your plan of future is all around your life outside Iran.
3. You consider yourself an Iranian, just becuase you read news and watch Iranian TV
If you asked Iranian(those live in Iran) about you being Iranian, 90% will say "No".
You are not part of the society. You judge everything based on the standard which you are living on western society.
You have no remote idea, what and how much efforts will take for a real Iranian to live thier lives and love thier country.
The prime example, if you watch these garbage broadcast by Iranian TVs in LA about Iran. All true Iranian recognize, these people have no idea. What Iran and Iranian about?
You are resisting the fact, your dreams and your life have been built around living here. The chance of you going back or even live in Iran slim to none.
Therefore, you should just focus on your life here and leave Iran to true Iranian.
Just becuase, you speak to your parents once a month or send them few $hundreds to support them. It won't change anything.
Look around you and ask yourself, am I iranian or I am just day dreaming about this?
Your believe, your life style, your future, your kids and on on, are closer to your current country and not Iran.
You dream of Iran is nothing more than what you have seen few decades ago. You can not accept the fact, your contirbution to Iranian society is equal to not much more than those Iranian whom 6 feet under.
if you listen carfully to People in Iran, when they used your name. They always refer to you on past sentence.
Enjoy your life here and leave iran to those of us whom live there. You chose your path and you have to accept it. Stop pushing yourself at a direction which you have no chance of survior. For people like you, the best chance is not even think about Iran. Iranian society has evolved and no longer match with what you are thinking about it.

Irandost - you are the one who is not Iranian!!

by hanna (not verified) on

In my entire life, I have never come accross an IRANIAN who thinks like you do. You bring shame to the name IRAN!!

Obviously, you don't have a clue what it means to be Iranian, I have no idea which planet you are coming from, you are definitely an alien to us. I can assure you if you take a poll in Iran with the exception of a minority of sick, mentally defunct individuals nobody thinks like you. And I hope those mentally defunct individuals get out of our life so that the respect of our country can once again shine. We are the children of Cyrus, shame on you. As father of our great country, you bring shame to all that he has done for mankind. Nobility, equality, justice is what he stood for. Go read the First Charter of Human Rights - written by CYRUS the Great and learn something about the father of our country; you have much learning to do.

And if you are a Muslim, you are a fake one. You also bring shame to Islam and the Prophet of Islam.

Maybe the reason he can't go back is because he will get persecuted!! This is why he has been away for 20+ years. Have you taken this into consideration? And I am sorry, that my country has become a place where Iranians feel unwelcomed and have to fear for their lives.

So, don't even preach your fanatical bull shit, hateful, decrepit version of a twisted creation for us, you should be sitting in Saudi Arabia where they practice Wahabbism or maybe in Afghanistan among the fanatical Talibans!

I really pray that Iran has not become like either one of those two countries!

I wonder what you are doing here in the West?

YOU DISGUST US ALL!

If you not here your not part of the soultion anyway

by amir565 (not verified) on

1. 80 percent of you blogging here are out side of Iran in the first place.

2. Most of you dont understand the liberals here in Iran do not like the idea of nationalistic ideas that lead to patriotic racism .

3. We love are language , historty , and ethic diversity ie turks , lurs, etc

4 . No one born here has the right to questions ones right of being Iranian

5. Bahai faith is illegel in Iran , but that can change. Bahaism is closer to arab traditions that is it ia a relgion fromed from Islam fyi.Bahai names are 100 percent arabic. And outside of Iran Bahai faith is a whole diffrent storty.

6.Arabs are a manority in Iran and love Iran too.. Arab-Iranianian of khuzastan.

7. What happened in the past should stay there its time to move forward.

8. Thanks for your opinions but if your not coming back to Iran to do any thing about making it a better place than you just a talker and actions speak louder than words.

9. We know we have a long way to go here in Iran but we a realist not idealist . We are working slowy to make Iran better.

You are not Iranian

by irandost (not verified) on

Just because you born in Iran or your name or you speak farsi. You are not consider Iranian.
My question to you was very simple. When you think about Iran, what are you putting ahead of her? Your believe ( or So call religion) is one of them.
If Iranian Kurd or Baluch put interest of his or her race or religion or anything in that term ahead of the Country. They should not consider Iranian.
Iran belong to people whom defend her rights.
My question to you is very clear and don't dance around the answer. When you think about Iran, What is more important to you? Your believe and your way of life, or what 99% of the country accepted as the best interest of Iran.
Comments on this web page fall under 1% of what I call, "Born and left"
These people built thier own little world around themselves and without any consideration for Iranian (99%) and Iran. They keep introducing themselves as Iranian. It is time to accept the fact.
You probably get married and have childern within next few years. Your Childern won't consider themselves any longer Iranian. They will call themselves "American-Iranian" or another word for we don't care about Iran all together. At that stage, your transformation to none Iranian is complete. You have not been to the country for more than 20+ years. Your care about Iran is not more than reading news about it and etc....
It is the fact, you have and will be completely irrellivant to Iran and Iranian people.

I respect you as an American. But I am 100% sure, you no longer Iranian.

Seyyeds and hezbolahis and.....

by Kamangir on

The descendants of the arabs and arabic tribes that once brutalized Iran and Persians, the descendants of those nasty arabs are NOt Iranian. Mainly because after 1000 years they are doing what they can in order to eradicate the Persian essence of Iran while replacing it by their arab way of life (just to call it somehow...)

The descendants of those arabs and the arabzadehs are: Seyyds, Akhoonds, the vast majority of hezbolahis, the types of ahmadinejad etc...  How else can you explain their hatred and grudge against anything Persian? They have done their best to substitute our dear norouz with their arabo-muslim 'fetr' they have done their best to erradicate mehregan , tirgan and yalda among other Persian events. The real purpose behind building th Sivand dam was and is to take the plains of Psargad and the most important Persian historical remains under the water, for good. Our language has been polluted and contaminated (yes! contaminated) with their arabic language and as they have mentioned in several occasions, they'd like to change the language of Iran to the language of 'Quran' (arabic)   There's a systematic arabization campaign taking placce in Iran, All this is being carried out not but Iranians but by the descentants of those arabic tribes who once brutalized, looted and raped Persia, thy represent the anti-Iranian subculture. Their issue with arab nations has nothing to do with them being Persian, but it has to do with the fact that they are an offshoot of several arab tribes relocated to another land centuries ago and the fact that they see themselves better than the rest of arabs. These arabzadegan ara NOT Iranian but very much anti-Iranian.

I very rarely comment, but can't keep silent on this issue!

by Ari (not verified) on

It really has bothered me that someone has made a statement that has made you have this doubt! It also makes me sad because my best childhood friends are Bah'ai and I would never want them to feel like this. We grew up together, have so many wonderful memories together, my best time was when we were together in Iran; and regardless of all of these years we are still the best of friends no matter how far apart we live from one another. And once a year we all try to get together and spend our summer vacations together. They are as dear to me and even more than my own sisters.

Please don't ever let anyone make you feel any different, this is a sad day when one of us has to ask this question. It is shameful!

Hopefully out of your kindness you will forgive and forget the statement made by Irandost.

In fact the Bah'ais have been most respectful about Islam, they have only spoken with the greatest kindness, and with all respect, more than Muslims themselves.

We love you - don't ever forget this (though I have not seen you, I know the kindness and gentleness of your souls). Don't ever change!

Tahirih

by Mammad (not verified) on

Of course you are an Iranian. You were born there, you grew up there, your family presumably still live there and, above all, you love your native land.

As a practicing muslim, I condemn, in the strongest possible way that I am capable of, the injustice done to my Bahai compatriots. Religion is a private matter, and people should be free to practice their own religion.

You must also remember that such injustice has been done to Iranian muslims as well. Thousands of them were executed as political prisoners, and thousands more have been jailed because they spoke up. The problem is with the reactionary nature of the religious fundamentalists in Iran.

You should have absolutely no dilemma whatsoever

by Anonymous-2 (not verified) on

If that is the case then none of us are Iranians. The statement that he/she made is such nonsense.
We have been a country who have always prided ourselves of being a land of diversity, that's what makes Iran beautiful and distinguishes it from any other country.

Definitely Iranian

by Mehran-001 (not verified) on

Tahirih, you are definitely Iranian since you have the love for the land and you think about it's people. Don't let these thugs tell you otherwise. These animals ruling the country are no representative of the country. There will be a day that they pay for their crimes.

Of course you are an Iranian! - the other person was stupid!

by hanna (not verified) on

Dear Tahirih:

Many people say alot of stupid and ignorant things, you should disregard them totally.

Being an Iranian has nothing to do with ones' religion, color, creed, or ethnic background( i.e. Kurds, Lors, Azaris, Baluchis, etc..) or other characteristics.

We are all Iranians because we love Iran. Iran is our mother land; it is our roots; it is what gives us our identity. This is the common bond that ties us all together forever and ever. We may have differences of opinion on certain issues, but this has nothing to do with us being Iranian.

We have all witnessed how some have created this division among the Iraqi people, and look what has happened to that country! Let it be a good lesson for all of us, not to ever allow anyone to do the same with us. The only ones' who benefit from this divide and conquer policy are Irans' enemies and not the Iranian people.

May that day arrive that we can all go back to our mother land and enjoy living among each other as one family, one great nation and one great people!

What is great about Iran

by Kurdish Warrior (not verified) on

is its diversity. That's the beauty of it. Iran doesn't belong to any specific groups. Iran is for all no matter if you are Bahai, Jews, Persian Armenians, Kurds, Azeri, Baloch, Fars, Shia vs Sunni and the list goes on. I hope one day we all live under the umbrella of democracy. Then we wouldn't even have to discuss these issues.

Mohammad Ala

You are an Iranian

by Mohammad Ala on

You are an Iranian BECAUSE you love your hometown and country.

Iran is the birth place of many ethnic groups and religions.

Iranians are tolerant people and they value diversity.   Don’t be so sensitive that actions of few diminish your love of your hometown and country.

Tahirih jaan, do not be allarmed with what Irandost is preaching. He needs to talk his heart out for all Iranians and the world to know who these people are and be mindful of the kind of hate they spread among the children of God.
He has no choise, he is commisioned to expose himself and his bunch. Have pitty on him.
