Too many "some"s here !!
by anglophile on Sun Jul 03, 2011 08:00 AM PDTHere is Some People by Cliff Richard
Someday, an objective and unbiased historian ...
by Everybody Loves Somebody ... on Sun Jul 03, 2011 07:33 AM PDTwill research and investigate on this event and hopefully be able to separate the facts from the myths as to what really happened! I bet this person will be a non-Iranian since Iranians do not have the capacity to be objective!?
The reality of the political atmosphere and the rivalry between the USA and USSR of that era are well understood and established as to how various 3rd wolrd countries fell into the orbits of the superpowers.
Now, some argue that Mosadeq was democratically elected and that he wasn't going to join the Soviet camp and that he was a nationalist and this and that. Who knows and we can't certainly take what pro-Mosadeqi folks have been regurgitating! Let's leave it to the historians to determine that.
In the meantime, some folks here continue to make another Imam Hossain out of this poor old man.
I say, let's move on!
Why
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Jul 03, 2011 06:20 AM PDTdo people hate the Pahlavi so much? I keep wondering specially after watching the results. Alright Shah was a dictator; he imprisoned the worst people. He may have even tortured MKO and Islamists.
Some of us would say "GOOD"! I mean there is bad and there is worse. At least he respected our nation, Was there corruption: you bet yes! I know there was as there is now. Then we all packed up and ran off to USA or Europe. Is there corruption in America: yes or you are sleeping! But I am perfectly happy to live with it. I would exchange this corruption with IRI any day. At least I do not get arrested for swimming in my swim suite {which is by the way very modest; sorry ladies :-}.
My daughter did not have to wear hijab or pretend to be a Muslim. We had respect. We could travel without any trouble.Sure the officials stole money but not so much. Now they steal with with truckloads of gold. Then it was maybe 10%. Now it is 90%. In time we would have had democracy probably by now. So no matter how much I think I do not see the hatred some have for the Pahlavi. They were a heck of a lot better than what we have now. If we could only have the Shah back.
Besides democracy ain't all it is made up to be. There is just as much corruption in form of donations. Just as much greed and tax breaks for the rich.
Yes there was a coup which could have been avoided. Only if Mossadegh was savvy enough to deal with America.

Of dead or alive...
by پندارنیک on Sun Jul 03, 2011 05:42 AM PDTDespite its potential for sentimental backlash, every dead or alive member of the corrupt Pahlavis is fair play. I personally have toned down on Farah Diba for humanitarian reasons, otherwise she has remained as one the most superficial and stupid creatures on this planet that I've ever met in my life.
No matter what, the filthy Pahlavis have to be considered a pack of wounded wolves lurking behind the naivete of a bunch of simpleton sentimentalists.

Something happened on 28th of Mordad
by Ali P. on Sat Jul 02, 2011 08:10 PM PDTSome call it "coup", some call it "counter-coup".
Some think the good guys won, some think the bad guys did.
One mob attacked, and another mob didn't show.
Some think Iran was worse off, because of it, some think Iran was better off, because of it.
I don't think anyone- including RP- has denied the fact that SOMETHING happened on that freaking day!
Reza the imbecile has spoken again
by Kamran Ramyar on Sat Jul 02, 2011 06:45 PM PDTScary thing, other than Reza being stupid enough to have denied operation ajax altogether, are those advocating restoration of monarchy with Reza as the monarch!!!!!!
BTW- Thank god to the likes of Bahram Moshiri who are smart enough to point out falacies of Pahvalis.
No Excuse?
by Tavana on Sat Jul 02, 2011 05:35 PM PDTAgh Reza is of course entitled to hes 'fancies' but he is certainly not a bit entitled to all that money his dad stole from our country. No excuse for that! Zilch!

by Bavafa on Sat Jul 02, 2011 01:46 PM PDTone would hope we will have enough self respect to keep the family members out of it.
There is no excuse for it.
