You may know that My Way is inspired by a French song which Paul Anka wrote new lyrics for the english-speaking public.
I tried to translate original French lyric because English lyric has completly changed the story which is magnific but I'm not very god in English, I let you improve it.
I get up
And I touch you
But you do not wake up
As usual
I back the sheet
I fear you have cold
As usual
My hand caresses your hair
Almost despite me
As usual but you
You turn back to me
As usual
I dress me up very quickly
I get out the room
As usual
Alone
I drink my coffee
I am late
As usual
Silentely
I leave the House
Everything is grey outside
As usual
I’m cold
I pull up my neck
As usual
As usual
during the day
I play a role
I pretend to be
As usual
I smile
As usual
I even laugh
As usual
Finally I live
As of habit and
The day will
and I will return
As usual you
You shall be out
Not yet come back
As usual Alone
I would go to bedroom
In this cold bed
As usual my tears
I deny
As usual but as usual
Even at night
I’ll play a role
I’ll do as if
As usual
You will be back
As usual
I’ll wait you
As usual
You will smile on me
As usual as usual
You strip
Yes as usual
You’ll go to bed
Yes as usual
I’ll kiss you
As usual as usual
We will pretend
As usual
We will make love
As usual
We will do as if
As usual

by Troneg on Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:17 PM PDTYour version is realy what I expected and the most near the original version.
as anecdot, Valerie Francois did this song for his lover France Gale (a famous singer too) just before they stop their relationship.
Thanks.
Another Version!
by Kurush (not verified) on Wed Jun 03, 2009 09:54 AM PDTI like the French version so much more. Maybe because it is closer to the original inspiration. And I do hate Sinatra, I think he is a pathetic singer whose Mafioso friends got him started. The song is about a relationship gone cold. To traqnslate, one must keep the duple meter of the original verse. Here is my translation:
I wake up and
I brush against you
You do not stir
As usual
Over you
I spread the sheet
I fear that
You may be cold
As usual
My hand caresses
Your hair almost
Despite myself
As usual
But you you turn
Your Back to me
As usual
And then I
Quickly dress me
And leave the room
As usual
All alone I
Drink my coffee
I am now tardy
As usual
Without a sound
I leave the house
All is grey outside
As usual
I feel the cold
Raise my collar
As usual
As usual
Throughout the day
I will play
At make believe
As usual
I will smile
As usual
Even a laugh
As usual
In the end I’ll live
As usual
And then the day
Is all over
Me I will return
As usual
You you will be out
Still not yet returned
As usual
All alone I
Will go to bed
In that big
Bed cold
As usual
My tears I
Will hide them
As usual
But as usual
Even the night
I will play
At make believe
As usual
You will return
As usual
I will await
As usual
You will smile at me
As usual
You will undress
As usual
You will go to bed
As usual
One will kiss
As usual
As usual
One will make believe
As usual
One will make love
As usual
One will make believe
As usual

by Yana on Wed Jun 03, 2009 08:49 AM PDTsimplicity is the way to go! and I am a bad speller (i.e. boered, )
I meant bored; I was asking if you were annoyed by or uninterested with your sourundings, hence finding ways to entertain yourself.

by Troneg on Wed Jun 03, 2009 08:36 AM PDTI'm not the only one who uses an Alias in the site, yourself you are using Yana is-it your name or not, it is not important.
Using alias is not new, in the past several writer and poets did it like Fernando Pessoa per example: //www.poets.org/poet.php/prmPID/752 . Many people attach a name to a style and are not ready to undrestand complexity.
You are kind about my English level, I live in France and my English is more at a business level than an artisitic level.
per example, I don't undrestand what do you mean by "boered"?
Cheers.

by Yana on Wed Jun 03, 2009 08:15 AM PDTWhy don't you write with your real name, what is to be afraid of?!!!!
And also why you have said few times that your English is not good, I KNOW IT IS!
why would you want to write under few different names, are you that boered? (NO insult intended, just curious)

by Troneg on Wed Jun 03, 2009 03:02 AM PDTOf course Sinatra's voice is better but lyric is better in French version and it was my purpos.
Claude François has been the first signer. Another singer, Michel Sardou song it also and he has a better voice, you have it here:

PS: Troneg is an alias, so you could pronounce it as you want.
Franky was born to sing that one
by Yana on Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:14 AM PDTHi Troneg ( btw, is this your first name and if so what does it mean and how do you prononce it?)
Frank is GOD and with respeect to you'r French singer, Franky does a better job. His voice is just out of this world, I wish I was alive when he performed and was on his high horse :)
