Re Abbas Mirza
by Ajam (not verified) on Tue Oct 30, 2007 09:52 PM PDTDear Rosie, there are intangibles that can not be measured in physical terms which are what sets someone like Abbas Miraza apart from other statesmen. The significance of Abbas Mirza's actions should be considered in the context of his era. At a time when Iran was practically a failed state with ineffective leadership and no oil revenue, tribal insurgencies around the country and foreign powers exerting their influence (directly or trough proxy) in advancing their interests throughout the region, he sparked as a beacon of hope and promise. He stands out in our history for his maximum efforts while minimal resources at hand.
In early ninteenth century, when Persia had previously suffered defeats at the hands of technologically superior Ottomans, He managed to defeat them and establish our western border as it stands now. In fact, in his second attempt, he pushed Russians back to beyond caucasian territories and if it weren't for betryal of the royal court in cutting the finances he had requested he would have succeeded. Nevertheless, in spite of the pressure from the British and his father's henchmen (who declared him a rebel) to retreat, he chose to fight on to the very end.
Valor is not the only attribute distinguishing Abbas Mirza from the leaders of his era, his open mind and democratic tendencies in forming a Divan (an assembly) for people to consult him and and the government ministers about their problems (almost a century prior to the formation of the modern parliament, Majles-e Shora) is no less significant from his acts of bravery in the battle-fronts!
The reason our people are passionate about their noble sons such as Dr. Mossadegh is not in a religious manor but rather as manifestation of thier ambitions for freedom and INDEPENDANT from foriegn influence. I do not expect you to understand this since you consider dictatorship as a ntural course of events in developing countries and modernization process for "Brown people." But Mossadgh's era coul've been an example contrary to your prescriptions, substantiating our nation's entitlement to freedom and democracy had the CIA and big oil interests not brought it to an abrupt end!

Besides which I am perimenopausal which you would not find attractive, preferring as you do (so unusual for an Iranian man). And finally you would find my fashion sense objectionable--my habit looks too much like hijab.
But I shall pray for you, brother in Christ. Go forth and be fruitful,

Most of these people here are well familiar with the historical facts, but want to have their version. And that’s why everyone is having fun with it.
Ajam/Abbas Mirza
by Rosie T., (not verified) on Mon Oct 29, 2007 11:12 PM PDTPlease forgive for my ignorance. I know little about Abbas Mirza and nothing at all about Shaban Bimokh. But I promise you that I know more about Iran, ancient and modern, than any American I know who is related neither professionally nor by family (blood or marriage) to anything or anyone Iranian. And I have learned it all in a short time, on my own. I cannot tell you here exactly why I undertook to learn it; I can only say it has been a labor of love. There are things I am trying to understand, and the more I know, the less I know. But since that is the nature of knowledge, I am going to continue to try.
____________
I find the following summation at the end of Wikipedia's article on Abbas Mirza:
"He is most remembered for his valor in battle and his failed attempts to modernize the Persian army. He was not successful in part due to the lack of government centralization in Iran during the era. Furthermore, it was Abbas Mirza who first dispatched Iranian students to Europe for a western education"
And I cannot fail to notice that on all three counts, the Pahlavis completed this brave man's vision: to modernize the army, centralize the government and educate the students in a modern way.

I am not a Monarchist. I am a secular American Jew. I see myself as a "soft leftist", somewhere in between a Carter and a Chomsky. Perhaps it is because of the untold suffering my people endured and then, traumatized, began to inflict on others in Israel, that I do not see the world in terms of oppressors and oppressed, but in terms of one common struggle only.
I am also not an Islamicist. But I do believe in the interpretation of Jihad as the struggle of the human heart over itself. And I believe that those South Africans, black and white, who sat together to face their past in Truth and Reconciliation Committees, were the real Mujaheddin. And I wish these Mujaheddin to come to Palestine/Israel, and to Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq and America, and of course to Iran.
Is it possible that you and the Colonel have more in common than you know, and that the only thing missing is Truth and Reconciliation? Or am I simply delusional? Perhaps the Colonel is so hard-headed simply because his heart is broken. Perhaps I should ask Abbas Mirza.

Re Sha'ban Bimokh (Tajbakhsh)
by Ajam (not verified) on Mon Oct 29, 2007 09:45 PM PDTSavak, like any other spy agency, had smear campaigns and diversion methods to spin the truth into lie and vice versa. You, Mr. Sarhang Sooti, are fooling no one! If Sa'ban Bimokh had any association with Dr. Mossadgh, then why did he stab Dr. Fatemi (MOssadegh's foreign minister)? You probably have a spin for that too (e.g. it was their own plot...). And after all, why did Shah give Sha'ban Bimokh the title of "Tajbakhsh" (restorer of the crown) and invited him to his birthday bashes every year? What could an illiterate thug have done to restore Shah's throne? I guess a throne whose restorer was a knife-wielding thug was doomed to end up down the drain!
To colonel Hemaghat (H.I.M's pimp)
by Ajam (not verified) on Mon Oct 29, 2007 08:51 PM PDTYou, who must've been Shah's pimp (since you claim to know shah's taste in women), have no leg to stand on! With a filthy, gutter mouth like that, who gave you the right to rewrite history? So what that Dr Mossadegh was from Ghajar family? Is it guilty-by-association condemnation?! Abbas Mirza was a Ghajar prince, and yet the entire Pahlavi dynasty has done nothing compared to what he did for Iran (giving his life in defending our soveriegnty).
Dr. Mossadegh was a nobel man who was given a mandate by the people in a free vote. He successfully led our nation in a bold movement to nationalize our oil while Shah, Ashraf and Shapour Gholamreza treated the oil revenue as their heirloom! He defended our national interest against one of the biggest colonial powers of the time (i.e. Britain) in the Hague court and won the hearts and minds of the participating nations, while Shah ordered "those who want not to be a member of my Rastakhiz party should leave Iran" as if Iran was his private property.
Dr. Mossadegh is the champion of our nation's struggle for indepencance, freedom and democracy while Shah at best would be looked at with pitty. Just look and see whose picture our students, teachers, workers...hold up in demonstration. Yes, that's right...that of Dr. Mossadedgh, and if you want Shah's picture look in the dus-bin of history!

by shim (not verified) on Sun Oct 28, 2007 02:47 PM PDT"colonel" is part of the problem and not the solution. King/Ayatollah worship is bad. worshipping a leader is unhelpful to bringing about change and progress. I dont think the shah was a shame - he was just a politician - it's the worshippers like colonel, who still worship and praise him and his kids, (even know his sex habits), despite living in the USA democracy. Haven't you learned anything? is the question that comes to mind?
Iranians are not a bunch of lambs. Inshallah ayatollah will be removed from power, but Iranians cannot depend on rahbars or kings. Just let them have a nice 60-80 years life of simple prosperity without having to look up to divine or ultra-chic/bejewled kings and clerics - is that asking too much for such an oil rich country? or maybe iran is just desinted to always have dictators because of the cruelty and threats of iranian politics che shahi che eslami.

Old Fart
by Rosie T. (not verified) on Sun Oct 28, 2007 01:19 PM PDTDear Yo, Please examine your well-intentioned remarks:
"Don't worry about this Colonel...he must be in his eighties." What do you mean don't worry? I assume you don't mean don't worry about his health because since he's old I should worry about it. So I guess you mean he should be ignored because of his age. In politically correct USA, this is called ageism. In traditional China, this is called foolishness. Perhaps I am Chinese.
"And has his own version of history".
So do we all my dear, so do we all. I am 48. This much I have learned.
" I deal with his friends at their annual meetings Bunch of twisted minded old farts....What surprises me with this one is his vulgarity; most of them are decent people."
If they are decent polite people, why do you refer to them as farts? A fart is a malodorous emission preceding defacation; i.e. gaseous SHIT.
I am not surprised at his vulgarity at all. It seems to me it's tit for tat. Just that his much more honest.
Why does the Shah era cause so many "progressive" Iranians embarrassment? Everyone knows that dictatorship was the means by which the political apparatus was centralized to for these countries to catch up with industrialization, lacking as they were in such sacred secular democratic institutions as free elections and the RIghts of Man, which exploited and killed millions of brown people and led to two world wars. These 20th century third world dictatorships are nothing to be ASHAMED of, they are just a fact of modern history. (Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the Fascism of fabulous Europe and the Colonel is right, the Shah was Gandhi in comparison to his "Western" "counterparts").
Until/unless someone can prove otherwise, I am going to assume that the Colonel is exactly who he says he is and it wouldn't change a thing if he drove a cab or shoveled horse manure for a living. "This one" as you call him, as though you were squeezing tomatoes in a supermarker, doesn't just have his own VERSION of history, he participated in its making.
As for his foul toilet bowl mouth, I don't like it either but I find it less offensive than those whose language is just as hurtful but more devious because cloaked in niceties. I greatly admire Mossadegh but am relieved to have someone piss on him at last. Because he has become the Thirteenth Imam, and well, you know, nothing is sacred. So jeesh away, Colonel. Jeesh away.
And by the way, Colonel-joon. I'm not as much a hypocrite as you think. And just to prove it to you, you can kiss my stinking Jew koss koon, you motherfucking scumbag old fart prick. Okay? ;D
Enough toilet bowl mouth for now. Thanks for your conhsidered reply to my questions, Colonel. I'll get back to you on your answers later.
Cheers,

by Colonel Hemayat (not verified) on Sun Oct 28, 2007 01:18 AM PDTReza Shah was NEVER installed , declassified documents show that the British had nothing to do with Reza Shah coming to power. Keep in mind that they DID NOT oppose either, Generally speaking, Reza Shah had the backing of Brits yes, that is all.
Élites, such as Nafisi , Foroughi, Iraj Mirza, etc supported him. At the time, Iran was falling apart and she needed an Iron Man to put shit together and Reza Shah was that man and he did that.
Reza Shah was a victim of circumstances not miscalculations, Allies would have occupied Iran any way , it was the bridge they needed to defeat the Nazis.
The Young Shah came to power and took responsibility at the tender age of 21 , because his people wanted him, the Iranian Parliament wanted him and again the Élites wanted him.
He did his best for his country and his people no doubt, he made mistakes , he was not weak but perhaps he was not a man of crises either , alas he became sick and tired and had no good men around him in 1979.
He was not a tyrant but a benevolent dictator. I know secrets that you don’t, in 1979, four of his army commanders had made a plan to save the country , code name “Rooz Nejat”. A brutal killing of 10,000-15,000 of Islamic and Marxist thugs on the street was to be followed by a war with Iraq which would have nipped the revolution in the butt.
Shahansha sent a telegraph from Morocco to Tehran, NOT authorizing either part of the plan. He loved his people and his country, he did not want his throne to be established on the blood of his people and ruins of Iran. Mullahs did that and established themselves. The telegraph is still in the safe boxes of IRI’s intelligence ministry.
As for that cock sucker bald piece of shit Mosadaq , he could have been like a father to the young Shah just as Foroughi was. The young Shah wanted to take part and take responsibilities but that old goat who was of Qajar dynasty hated the Pahlavi dynasty so much he denied the Shah everything.
As for me, I loved Shah, to me , he was my Father, my commander , my king. I truly believe he loved Iran and his people, and I truly believe he and his father were the best thing happen to Iran in the last 1400 years. I truly believe the revolution of 1979 was a disaster and a tragic event for Iran and Iranians.
I have to repeat myself, We monarchists condemn ANY military action against Iran, Just as Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi stated “ We don’t need or want American General to liberate us”, we have no military alliance with Neocons, but we do have an alliance with them. Commen ground is “NO IRI, NO IRI, NO IRI”.
I hope Iran will have a monarchist regime as it is suitable to our history and our country , different ethnic groups will be united , strength through unity, unity through monarchy. Crown Prince Reza is the only proper alternative to IRI, he is the most democratic leader among the opposition and he is deeply loved by the people of Iran and true love for Iran and Iranians is in his DNA!!
And Rosie you are such as hypocrite , you claim to be lefti, liberal, pro-clinton , etc yet you label Shah a “Play boy” !!! Shah was no more play boy than JFK or any other handsome, powerful man back then or even now for that matter.
