Iran 1970

A time of prosperity and glory

Here's a sample of old clips of Iran in the 1970's. A time of prosperity and glory. A time when being Iranian was an honour and a title. Until some students started a revolution...

We brought it upon ourselves.

For those who go to iran, look around carefully and see how any major development project was built or initiated in the 60s and 70s: steel mill, refineries, prestigious universities, even the bushehr reactor. And we got full and greedy.

Today, mullas have been fighting persian culture for 30 years with tools of destruction, like sivand dam. What shah's regime built have all been neglected, even historical mosques are falling apart. All attention is replaced by displacing persian culture to make mullas relevant, oppression of people, and emphasis on freeing Qods for arabs.

Then we had 25,000 students studying only in america, lots of them with aid from pahlavi foundation. Even those who married foreign nationals returned home to participate in progress of iran. Today, even islamists cannot tolerate living in iran that they cooked up for iranians and are running away to the same western countries that they have been demonizing for 30 years now, as we see from the comments that they make on these threads.

Anyone remember that proverb from our childhood that: arabs should be kept full to be content; iranians should be kept hungry to be content. That was the story of iranian revolution architected by pseudo-intellectuals, islamists, and leftists, and implemented by thugs.

It was all about power and control of wealth. Everything else was just excuses and tools of deceit. Almost all those revolutionaries who complained about shah's regime, islamists (khomeini), leftists (rajavi), or intellectuals (yazdi), turned out to commit far worse crimes in a single week than shah did in his entire reign. And near the end shah was willing to hand in the power to bakhtiar and place the political power in the hands of the people. The enemies of iran rejected, as they had their eyes on power and wealth, not what they claimed was wrong with the regime.

From Ayatollah Khomeini: Nationalism and worshipping iran is the same as paganism; one must worship allah and nation of islam.

or

Even if one person remains alive in iran, that is enough for islam.

Congratulations to all revolutionaries who achieved their aim: destruction of iran and 30 years of attempt in pushing iran 1400 years backward.

Why don't you compare the positive sides of Iran today with Iran pre-revolution and see how far you go?

I was a teenager then and I

by AnonymousMM (not verified) on

I was a teenager then and I had a lot of fun in Tehran those days. Looking at this clip I think to myself may be this wasn't us. May be it wasn't our nature. May be it was too soon. May be that was too much for the majority of the people of Iran. May be how Iran is now is closer to what the majority really are.

Simple math equation is the answer..

by Homayun (not verified) on

I believe that Iran was not "yet" a fully prosperous country back then, but it was very well on the way to it.
What Iran needed then and now is a well educated generation that can build the country.
It's a very simple equation:

let's ask ourselves, how long does it take for a child to become productive in a country? Well, it takes at least 18 years to finalize the high school. Then assuming 5 years university, it'll take 23 years to produce an Educated contributor. But what can a person freshly from university contribute? Not really much. Hence it will at least take him another 5-7 years to get experience in the filed he's gonna work.
In total, it'll take up to 30 years to train someone to become a contributor in a society.
Let's ignore the fact also that the majority of people finishing an education are not Einsteins or Edisons or Ford and Diamlers either, to bring new idea's, new discoveries, etc.

I think we all also agree that when the Pahlavi's came to power, Iranians were basically illiterate. Don't we?

So if training a fully functional generation takes 30 years, how many generations do we need to build a nation like Iran was during the Qajars to the level of the European countries?
In my humble opinion, at least 3 or 4 generations. Which means at least 90 - 120 years...

How long did the Pahlavi's get?? 55? They didn't do bad, did they.

"Some students"?!

by Anonymousa (not verified) on

The shahi students were sissi? is that why we had the revolution? Akhey. We should have let the spineless stay. I am sorry. We will stand aside now and let the "good" students take over now that we are sorry. Come on aziz, come on, here's your tiara. Come on, don't be shy. Here kitty kitty kitty.

The buildings and stuff are not the same now. Back then, during the time of the video clip, they were modern, state of the art structures and equipment. Now, they are old, antiquated, outdated, useless junk.

We can have that again - soon

by Mehdi on

If we just mange to stay away from anoth "revolution" and a potential war with the Imperialism. If we manage to maintain relative peace and work at it, with technology and open communication with other countries, improvement and modernization is inevitable, no matter how much the regime tries to hold things back. Patience and endurance is needed now. "Darkness" has no other choice but to dsiappear. Only a disturbed violent environment could enhace the "darkness."

firstly, this clip only shows all the positive sides of iran with all the fit girls wearing mini-jupes and all boys being hippies and all teachers being perfect.

otherwise all the buildings and stuff are the same as now, it is indifferent from the current tehran and iran. we used to have microscopes, well we still have them. we used to have tall buildings, now we also have them but now the number is much higher:D:D
