by KHAR (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 05:59 PM PSTI don’t know about you all but I'm sick and tired of all of these phony BOTS that we create. Be it SHAHS, RAJAVIS, AYATOLAHS and others. What is wrong with you/us people can you/we think, act and live independently without choosing these BOTS as your/our saviors???? I think this a disease and it has historical roots in our culture, religion and our personalities. Can you understand that these BOTS are never the answer but the problem themselves!!!!! If Iran and Iranians are only capable of producing these people as “leaders”, “saviors” than the disease is with in us and we are doomed by history as we have been for centuries. Our future is not through the past. DEVELOPE A NEW WAY OF THINKING, BRING WITHIN SOMETHING ANEW!!! START WITH YOURSELVES!
to Q:
by Azarin Sadegh on Mon Jan 28, 2008 05:44 PM PSTI just read you other comments on the Ode to Khomeini thread...and Wow!
I saw your efforts to justify Khomeini's acts and killings and still to appear objectif and rational. In your first post you decalre he only killed 4000-5000, but comment by comment you have no other choice than increasing the numbers...Such an achievement!
Yes, maybe the "real measure of accomplishment" is not the number of modern buildings and modern schools and modern hospitals and modern universities and modern factories and other "modernities"...
But this "real measure of accomplishment" is defintely not the number of martyrs going to heaven with the key to paradise hanging from their neck, or depriving women from their basic rights, or executing free thinkers or anyone who was against them.
I think Khomeini is not comparable with Hitler or Stalin. He is worse! Because those dictators if they killed (and they killed a lot) still they claimed to love their country. Khomeini never even loved Iran and never felt any remorse for the millions he killed in the forced War with Iraq. He was mainly driven by his black hatred of Reza Shah.
In my youth, I was also against Shah. An idealist, like any teenager. Until Khomeini invaded Iran! And every morning I heard the numbers: 10,000, 15,000, 25,000 dead. These were young and hopeful children of Iran who died to protect Iran and to save Khoemini's dictatorship. So i learnd, the hard way, that everything is relative, even cruelty.
Come on Q! On this thread here about Shah could you please have at least the decency to stand for what you really believe?
Azarin

To All those Who Read My Comments
by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 04:54 PM PSTI want to make sure that you fully understand what my background is:
I was devoted to Mammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Also, I am a Zartoshti, and when I was growing up, I grew up among the Jewish people.
Consequently, I developed strong negative feelings towards Islam.
Please remeber that when you are reading my comments in this blog. Thanks
P.S. I also use multiple names throughout this site. Names such as Ahmad Bahai, Anonymouspb, Anonymous2008, babakoohi, Kos Sher, and most recently, Nader Vanaki, and Kafka.
I'll keep you posted of new ones if I use them.

Reza Pahlavi at Georgetown U? All Iranians should go
by John Carpenter (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 04:20 PM PSTReza will surely pack the place with his supporters that is what he always does.
I ask all Iranians of every political idea to show up and speak up. Reza is not the only voice of the Iranian masses. Good luck guys.
Ask Reza hard questions.
Do a good job.
Out of my way!
by Long John (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 04:16 PM PSTOur modern history has lacked leaders with enough gheyrat to sacrifice their life for their country. A Western example would be the Titanic's British captain. He was in charge and he went down with the mother ship. Cap'n Mammad Reza, on the other hand, grabbed the first lifeboat and watched his sinking ship from afar.
Arrrr, Matie
Catch the dictator's son Reza at Georgetown Univ. jan 30
by ABC (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 04:02 PM PSThe'll be talking about how much he knows about iran with the main point of proving that Iranians are pro-American. What the hell does that mean anyway? That Iran's interests are so unimportant that they should contain the label AMERICAN? Speak for yourself, reza. I'd be pro-american too, if i got to be a king on their bill! It's good to be the king! "PRO-AMERICAN" HA! can you imagine that kheng as a leader? "Sarhang get my spicy tuna rolls and DIET coke."
I hope reza brings his clown shoes.

Irooni jan,
by Nader on Mon Jan 28, 2008 03:56 PM PSTI also understand where you're coming from and equally I hold Shah responsible for all the mishaps that we are facing today, however, my comments about him being a bit better than IRI has a lot to do with the number of people either being tortured, assassinated or imprisoned by the current regime. The statistics are just so over whelming!
And you are also right. It all goes back to what Shah did during his reign...
Xerxes
by Anonymous4now (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 03:39 PM PSTI hope you are right about the IRI reforming. I think the previous government could have been reformed, but the IRI cannot be reformed, for reasons we have discussed before. I am willing to be pleasantly surprised though.

I do agree with Nader
by Irooni on Mon Jan 28, 2008 03:37 PM PSTI do agree with Nader! He was a dictator; but unlike Nader, I think he was even worse than the current rulers of Iran. The corrupt Pahlavi dynasty is responsible for most of the misery we have been through! God damn his soul!!!

He had good intentions
by Q on Mon Jan 28, 2008 02:15 PM PSTAzarin, that is not contested. But so does Bush, and see what he has accomplished aroudn the world. Almost every dictator thinks they are doing what's best for their people.
Also, one cannot measure "what he has accomplished" in terms of number of buildings or modernization. By that argument Hitler and Stalin should be praised far more for their accomplishments. All 3 dictators wanted to add to strength and power of their own nations.
to David
by Azarin Sadegh on Mon Jan 28, 2008 12:31 PM PSTHi David,
I rather distinguish these three "dictators", as you call them:
Khomeini was a religious dictator, bringing us the absolute word of god, so who could really dare to contradict him? He didn't love Iran and didn't care about Iranians misery. Millions of people died because of him, so I think he is the worst of these three.
Rajavi is a little religious/communist sect leader, and as we all know, he never governed on Iran. He only helped Khomeini to gain power. Even though he symbolizes the betrayal and shame for any Iranian, still, he shouldn't be at the same category as Khomeini and Shah.
Shah, in my opinion, made many mistakes and as a dictator, he killed many of his opponents, but honestly, I think he is the least worst of them.
He was a weak dictator, a dictator with a high sense of pride, and with a real love for Iran, but unfortunately, he had a set of wrong goals and too much optimism, and he didn't recognize the opportunists and the members of the "wind" party, surrounding him. And it was his biggest mistake.
Still ordinary people lived in peace and with high hopes for their own ordinary future during his reign and I think it was his biggest achievement. (Just look at these images as a proof of this achievement: //iranian.com/main/2008/memories
But let's hope for the day when Iran is governed by a real democracy and a real non-dictator!
Thanks,
Azarin
