Why is that so? How about this...

by Zion on

'Wallace came out of his retirement to interestingly interviewed Ahmadinejad and never bothered interviewing him with the same hard questions regarding Human Rights Violations, lack of Democracy or Iran's civil Rights mouvement in Iran. Why is that so ?'

Mike Wallace is nothing but a typical useful idiot with the exactly "right" kind of friends. I suggest you ask the lovely Mr. Kaveh Afrasyabi (who beside being an outspoken apologist for the regime in Tehran, happens to be a special darling of this website too.) After all he is a "good friend" of Mike Wallace:
//iranian.com/main/2008/reading-kafka-har...
Doesn't that already answer your question?

----

PS. Mr. Kadivar, you keep bringing up this Erdman fellow and his book. So I finally decided to look it up:
//www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/25/news/obits....
It so happens that he is neither a Jew nor an Israeli, but a Lutheran American born in Canada. I'm sure you could have given yourself the trouble of doing the same before badmouthing Jews, but that is evidently too much to ask of an Iranian. What else is new?

Darius Kadivar

Before Stephan Kinzer's "All the Shah's Men We had Crash of '79

by Darius Kadivar on

Americans LOVE Super Villains like in their Comic Books. Look at the JOKER in Batman. Before Stephan Kinzers one Sided Look at the Events of 1953 and how Villainous the Shah and his Men were like in the Humpty Dumpty Sat on the Wall Story, Another talented writer was to describe the Shah of Iran as a megalomaniac power hungry villain who wanted to pull down the West. Just Like Some James Bond Villain like GoldFinger. The name of the author was Paul E. Erdman and his book was titled "Crash of '79". An Israeli American who no wonder found the Shah an enemy probably because of his mild criticism of the Israeli Lobby in one of Wallace's aggressive interviews. Wallace came out of his retirement to interestingly interviewed Ahmadinejad and never bothered interviewing him with the same hard questions regarding Human Rights Violations, lack of Democracy or Iran's civil Rights mouvement in Iran. Why is that so ? I wonder what happened to his smart Ass Questions ? Instead he focused on the Holocaust Issue and did not even mention the Legacy of Cyrus the Great. David Frost the British journalist was much more objective and understanding of the Shah than any of the other Western Journalists of the time while being critical but he was never arrogant or disrespectful.

The Poor Shah, What things they didn't say on him to this day ...

I think History now proves what an ASS All these journalists and particularly Wallace or Barbara Walters were not to verify Their FACTS ...

They were SO ARROGANT and were simply having their moment of Testosterone scorn against the Shah satisfied and NOT looking at the realities of the country or the Man they so easily villified in the Western Press.

Here is the Book Crash of 79 which was to be made into a movie but then the unpredictable happened: Khomeiny entered the picture but this was REALITY not FICTION ...

Even to this day newcomers like Stephan Kinzer don't leave the poor fellow alone and offer no new or fresh outlook on the Shah or his era despite all that we know today that in the balance make the Shah's regime look like the best thing Iran ever had in the 20th century and maybe even beyond.

Here is the plot of Crash of '79:

"Bill Hitchcock was one of America's great financiers, but having sold off his banks, he now works for the government - the Saudi Arabian government. Hired as the official financial advisor to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Hitchcock finds himself in control of hundreds of billions of dollars, and is now one of the most powerful men in the world.

While a good portion of the book is devoted to details of economics, described in such a style as to blend in with the fiction, the main plot of the novel centers around the Shah of Iran - considered a fool by some, a madman by others. The Shah's plan to take over the middle east involves obtaining nuclear weapons by hiring the best scientist in the field.

Complications ensue when Hitchcock finds himself romantically involved with this scientist's daughter, and slowly begins to pick up on the details of the Shah's plan. "

Good vs. Evil!

by Ajam (not verified) on

North Korea has been under every sanction possible and known to mankind for decades, while South Korea has been flooded with American and Japanese investment dollars to make an example of "Good vs. Naughty" nations!

Does that mean all we have to do is to let Americans have military bases all over our country to Get on the Good list?! Well, I doubt that's gonna help for we have something that changes the whole equation! I wonder what that could be...! Could it be... OIL?!!

Can't you see it?
The Americans just started to to distance themselves from the Shah; and the Brits filled the void by Khomeini.

I never said I am  proud of South Korea, but if I was South Korean, I would have been.

With all due respect, your numbers sound like some of those numbers our lefists friends fed us 30 years ago about Iran, and sadly most of us fell for them.

"40% of the girls work in bars and clubs"? What girls? What age cathegory? 40%?? (Well at least we can be sure they, working in restaurants, get enough to eat, unlike their Northern counterparts!)

(Playground for the rich to party and have sex? Sounds like the state of Nevada to me! Isn't Neveda one of the richest states in the US?)

Sex industry exists in S. Korea. Prostitution exists everywhere, but everyone I know, almost daily buys something made in South Korea. I have never known anyone who goes to South Korea, for the purpose of prositution (to Thailand, Kambojia, or Phillipines, yes, but not S. Korea!)

I am also old enough to remember, being told, that East Germany is a magnificant, gloreous country, far better than the West Germany, and all the Western media said about it, was but a bunch of lies!

The wall came down and we saw the truth behind the numbers.

It's Iranians fault too

by Anonymous I. (not verified) on

I agree with Fatollah. People were stupid, they fell for Khomeini. All we can do just blame others for our own failures. The big conspiracy stuff; Khomeini was brought by help of Americans ..... ; Not to mention that many went on the streets doing the demonstrations and going on strikes. People wanted democracy but they fell for lies of another dictator.

How can you be sure of that? We know America does not give a ride for free? Then you/we must assume that if not all, but most of the Western European countries were and still are the servants of the USA??? Put Japan and India to the list as well! Don't you agree? Ajab!!! How stupid and moronic we Iranian must have been to choose Khomeiny in 1979!

The thing is that Democrats

by parnian (not verified) on

The thing is that Democrats such as Carter who always want to look down on people (just like they are in their own country) couldn't tolerate an educated and smart person in the heart of the middle east. They much rather see AN in power. Democrats like to keep people down and keep them slaves and dependent for ever..........

Respect!

by Fareed (not verified) on

They didn't show much respect for him because he acted as a servant for so many years. At the end, when he became too egotistic because of petrodollars and wanted to play like a master, they let him go as easy as they let him come to power. It's unfortunate, but people don't have much respect for their servants.

by Fatollah (not verified) on

This Wallace is such an arse!!! In his many inertview clips with the Shah available on Internet, I can't help notice his contempt towards Shah M.R.P.
when putting forward his questions! Why did the Shah bothered to give such sack of #"#"# audience who didn't seem to have friendly intentions towards him or the nation of Iran!

Please, watch all the inetviews this Wallace guy has ever made with the Shah and compare that to those with the Mullahs!

This man is either an illiterate or a phony journalist.

by Anonymouskorean (not verified) on

dont' be proud of south korea. 40% of the girls work in bars and clubs. the korean papers said the bar and club and s.. industry is 22 billion dollars a year.
japanese tourist go ther and pour money into korea. so korea is a playground for the rich and money circulates from rich to poor but not in charity form but wrong ways so it is a shame even thought they have technology and export good products. most of the country is corrupted and has little moral values.

The fate of puppets is always in the hands of their masters. Shah, Noriega, Saddam, Sadaat, and etc. Rule for a long time, rape your countrymen, then get pushed aside like a dog. WELL DESERVED!

oil revenues

by IRANdokht on

oil revenues dry up in 2 decades? He was right about "a lot of imagination" and obviously no substance. They are still saying the oil will dry up in 2 decades, and it's been 3 decades since he left Iran. It's clear that they wanted to get rid of him based on the CIA's profile and they had no shame declaring that they're not happy with him.

btw why are the same reporters showing more respect while speaking to the likes of AN now?

Hmmm...

by Ali P. on

South Korea decided to side with the West, during the Cold War, and North Korea, went with the Communist block.

As a child of Cold War,I heard South Korean leaders, and any other anti-Communist politician- from Ghavaam to Mossadegh- being called "American puppets"relentlessly, mainly by the pro-communism camp, as was the Shah of Iran.

Decades later, I look at The North and South Korea, and I wonder if these leaders chose the winning camp for their nations...
