You criticized IranDokht for a video Party Girl submitted. Then you criticized Party Girl for a caption JJ selected, and finally you call me a moron for something another user posted.
It's no wonder with such a firm grasp on the facts, and elaborate attention to details you are able to draw such outlandish and unrelated inferences from the submitted video.
Insofar as my feelings being hurt, I am not personally vested in the discourse on this site. I make my point, and it is for the readers to draw their own conclusions. How vested I am in my responses to you is apparent from my basic mistakes in grammar and spelling in my replies.
Obviously if I am not even bothering to proofread and spell check my communications addressed to you, I can't be that concerned with what you have to say.
Inasmuch as my pointing out your complete disconnect with logic is an avocation not a vocation, I will not dignify your sophomoric name calling with response in kind.
I have no interest in creating propaganda as you suggest. I simply thought that your original silly and off base comment to Party Girl (since she did not choose the caption) was worthy of clarification (even though your replies following my original post suggest I may have mistaken you for one capable of a mature conversation).
Finally you argue a moot point that he does not directly state that "A hand of God" is the the 12th Imam. Apparently your "logical" assumption is that he talks about a hand of God, and then in a completely unrelated sentence following that reference he starts talking about.
Under your warped reasoning if one is talking about baking cookies, and in the following sentence starts talking about alternatives to sugar in baking recepies, the two sentences are unrelated because he does not mention sugar in the same sentence as cookies. . .so he must be takling about sugar independent of cookies!
Frankly I am taken aback by your seeming inability to think in a linear manner. In full disclosure I make my living making arguments, presenting facts and drawing inferences.
You are constitutionally incapable of making an argument without degenerating the discourse into a prepubesent sandbox name calling session.
A president with such disconnect to reality truly diserves an apologist with such disconnect to civility.
Now. . .back to Wheel of Fortune.

Bla bla yeah I hurt your feelings and you need a hug, I got it, BUT..
He discusses the 12th imam after that part, but he does not say that the "Hand of God" is the 12 Imam. THIS IS MY F'ING POINT THAT DOES NOT GO INTO YOUR HEAD. The Hand of God might very well be the "muslims in the region" which he has said numerous times in his speeches, or "The Islamic Revolution" (Which also makes more sense logically speaking). You are still guessing and putting words in his mouth, and based on that, you are wrong, flat out, so clearly, thats why Im calling you a moron, because its called propaganda what you and Party Girl are doing, when taking out 10 seconds of ones speech and placing your own meaning into it making the speech mean something else than its original meaning. Comprende? Understand??
He might have well been speaking about the Islamic Revolution before that first part, ever consider that? Or that maybe when he starts to talk about the 12 Imam he was changing the subject? We dont know, the clip is to short, but based on this clip, the title Party Girl puts on this vid is wrong, its like your trying to argue that the world is flat..

He clearly talks about Emam
by Fatollah (not verified) on Mon Jun 02, 2008 12:52 AM PDTHe clearly talks about Emam Zaman, but to mix the usual religious mambo&jumbo in politics is genius. The main purpose perhaps is to divert the attention from failing economy, rising basic commodity prices has sent even the middle class families into poverty. Thank you Mahmoud khan for making people's "sofreh" colourful, he is truely a student of the old goat, quote: "ma na tanha zendgi maadee shoma ra behbod khaeem dad, balke zendegee maanaavee shoma ra ... shoma be maanaveeiat ehteeyaj dareed" and some 3 decades passed, still the same BS ! Mahmoud you need a crash course in management, like managing an economy with high oil prices OR an economy with steady oil income. Come to think of it, actually GWB has done Mahmoud and the Mullahs a great service. Made IRI stronger then ever, high oil prices, what else do you need from an enemy? Otherwise, I am with Kababi, you are so right and straight to the point.

Speaking like this is an Art
by MKB (not verified) on Sun Jun 01, 2008 07:21 PM PDTI loved this clip
It reminded me so much of when I was a kid and went to “Tekyeh” or “Rozeh”
Whilst every one is getting hung up over which Emam (and its clearly Emam Zamman) Mahmoud is talking about a neat trick is missed.
First, the style in delivery of the speech and ambiguity used in these sermons. Nothing is ever exact and there is lots of hand movement which I have to say is captivating. Its almost “Naghally”.
Secondly and really amusing is his reference to the “Doshman” and how using some spiritual supercomputers they have figured out that something “Godly” is going to happen.
Doesn’t he sound like he is saying, even the Americans who are so smart etc know something godly is going to happen.
I am sure we have heard other Iranians make references to smartness of Kharejiha, especially in Iran, in this manner.
Actually what he is saying is quite worrying because he is insinuating that there is a proxy war against his brand of Shiaism
Imam zaman, imam khomeini, what is the difference?
by Kababi on Sun Jun 01, 2008 03:44 PM PDTYou are talking about couple of dead people. Who cares, Mehdi, Rohullah, Hassan, Hossien, whatever?
Mahmood is in-love with all of them. He thinks, they are managing the world and Iran.
With 20% infalation and 30% unemployment. Emam Zaman and Emam Khomeini are excellent Managers. They know, what they are doing or what.
Mahmood must be watching the movie "Six Sense". I am seeing "Dead People"..
Allah Akabar, Oil Price is $135 and here are the price of goods in homeland:
Rice 6,000 Toman Per Kg
Meat 14,000 Toman Per Kg
Chicken 8,000 Toman Per Kg.
I think Mahmood is asking people, since Imam Zaman is managing things. You should not eat food, rather draw them on paper and eat the paper. It will be the solution to your problem.
Rice. Meat, Chicken are like Emam Zaman. You don't see them, but believe him, they are there...

You may know Farsi, but you clearly fail at comprehension!. About the 40 seconds mark into the clip when Ahmadinejad starts talking about the "Emam", he follows it up (around the 43rd second) by saying, "Dar Dorran-e-Ghaibat". Now what does that say to you?. Which Emam is he talking about now?. Ghaeb and Ghaibat both originate from the same roots ;-)

But none of this is relevant to the post and the discourse surrounding the video (if we can call it discourse)
One more time:
"It is true that on the surface it appears that they have come to plunder the oil and win over the territory. But you go level behind this (yes he speak slang) and you see that these people are well researched. They have become informed that something is supposed to happen in the region, that A HAND OF GOD IS SUPPOSED TO COME AND TEAR OUT THE ROOT OF INJUSTICE IN THE WORLD."
Immediately following the sentence above he talks about the 12 Imam. . .the clear inference to "a hand of God" and immediately afterwards discussing the 12 Imam's attributes establishes that the "hand of God" in question is the 12th Imam. Furthermore look at the first sentence above. . .he talks about "a hand of God" emerging as the "layer behind the layer" reason for the occupation of Iraq!!!
Unlike the poster that asked you if you understand Persian/Farsi. I would ask you if you can understand my posts.
Then there is Almoo, who asks JJ if he has forgotten his mother tongue. Almoo states that Ahmadinezhad is speaking of Khomeini, when Ahmadinezhad is clearly stating that during the time of "Ghaybat" the Imam is still managing the affairs of the world (not something Khomeini would be doing).
All of these exchanges clarify for me how we got here in the first place. People do not listen, do not read carefully and interpret what they like to interpret in what they see. Khomeini came to Iran stating that following a long period of exile he had "heech" feelings coming back. People heard that too and said that is not what he meant. It is amazing to me that people can hear something in Farsi/Persian (mother tongue) several times... read the translation in English (another language they have familiarity with), and STILL struggle with the meaning of the man's words!
No wonder he won the election in Iran. . .if all of my fellow hamvatans exercise the same degree of attentiveness during the political process that they have watching this video and posting comments, we stand for a long line of such leaders.
Obviously Toofan, you will continue not to read the name on the posts carefully, not pay attention to the words written, or who is submitting or posting what, and fire back another off-point reply.
Now, Back to Breakfast. . .AGAIN.

Have you forgotten your mother tongue? Shame on you! He is refering to "Emam" which in Iran is "Imam Khomeini" leader of the revolution in Iran. IF he was refering to 12th Imam, he would be saying, "ghaeb" , or "mahdi", or some such. In that case the crowd would be chanting "sale ala mohamad va ale mohamd", or some such.

The hand of God can be so many things, you are guessing he is talking about the 12 Imam, why Ahmadinejad would think like that.. or a better question, why you think he would think like that is beyond my understanding. The guy is a fanatic, but he's not stupid.
The point is: We dont know what he is referring to, the clip is something like a minute long, and the fact that he speaks about the 12 imam afterwards of the first part does not prove anything.. your guessing and putting words in his mouth and making a fool out of yourself
RE: anonymous the meek
by ToofanZeGreat on Sun Jun 01, 2008 04:22 AM PDTYeah I do you, he does not claim that the US invaded Iraq for the sake of the 12 Imam as posted in your own translation and as its obvious in the clip, the poster under you explains what he might be saying. There is nothing about 12th emam in this speech !
by ./. (not verified) on Sat May 31, 2008 09:14 PM PDTI don't know how someone concluded that Ahmadinejad is talking about the 12th emam. Obviously he is refering to some sort of "awakening" of the masses in the region as the reason for US military action in Iraq. While this has nothing to do with 12th emam, I don't think he is wrong that people of the region are becoming more aware that what the real sources of their despair may be. That is my 2 cents.

My problem with the piece is that it is out of context. Knowing that Ahmadinejad is an psyop expert, a "smooth operator" and a shrewd politician - I know some of you are laughing out loud at my descriptions of him - I am sure he was discussing the subject of zohoor-e sahab-e zamaan and its implications in much more details and, perhaps, drawing some important conclusions. Why not the whole speech? I am hoping that would have led to more intelligent discourse about a subject that obviously LOTS of people in and out of position of power in East and West believe in.
