including reading and analysis of literary texts of various genres, such

23 July 1999
This is a final call for papers for 'The Literariness of Persian Texts,'
a collection of essays in honor of Heshmat Moayyad, scheduled for publication
in early 2000 by the world literature annnual 'Literature East & West'
(perhaps in collaboration with an acadmeic publisher). Papers need to reach
LE&W by early November in order for completion of the editorial and

* Urgent need for bone marrow
Our very good friend, Amir Ghazanfarian, is in dire need of your help.
Amir, who graduated from Stanford University last October with a PhD in
Electrical Engineering, is suffering from an acute case of Lymphoma. He
needs to receive a bone marrow transplant within the next 30 days. I urge
you all to please help him by doing a simple blood test. Please note that
it will take about two weeks for your test results to appear in the Bone
