MEK vs USA vs IRI vs Iranian People

Nothing more than the Nukes has gotten the ire of so many up so far up our asses of feigned concern, than the MEK issue. Here's the primer: Almost immediately after the revolution the MEK began to object to the IRI, leading to several important assassinations, and numerous other shall we say inconclusively mysterious acts of violence. برخوردهای قوم‌گرایانه و نژادگرایانه مختص جامعه ایران نیست و در همه جوامع کم و بیش به چشم می‌خورند. مشخصه این برخوردها نگاه تحقیرآمیز به اقوام و نژادهای دیگر و تعمیم یک خصوصیت (منفی) به مجموعه یک قوم یا نژاد (دیگر) است. در فرهنگ و زبان ایرانیان نمونه‌های این برخوردها کم نیست، و ضرب‌المثل‌ها و جوک‌هایی که در بین فارسی‌زبانان ایرانی در باره ترک‌ها، کردها، لُرها و عرب‌ها و مانند آنان ساخته و نقل می‌شود از مظاهر بارز این برخورد است.>>>

Barikalla Berkeley!

Actor/director/writer Parviz Sayyad will be coming to UC Berkeley this Friday April 6 for a screening of his 1983 film, The Mission. Afterwards he’ll stay around for a Q & A session. The event is part of UC Berkeley’s Iranian Film Festival made possible by a grant from the Parsa Foundation, so the shows and lectures are free to the public. The Mission is a good fit for the festival partly because the film captures the immediate post-revolution discourse among Iranian diasporans>>>

"رفیق بد" و بی تاثیر نبودن " ذغال خوب"

 زمانی که در منطقه "انسینو" ی لوس آنجلس زندگی می کردم, به ورزشگاه "هالیدی اسپا" می رفتم، گاهی سری هم به "حمام بخار" می زدم,  چهره ها محو در بخار بود ولی صحبت بفارسی را می شنیدم. که بدون اشاره به "رفیق بد"، اشاراتی به " ذغال خوب" داشتند. دوستانی که بتازگی از ایران بازدید کرده بودند و داستانهایی شنیدنی برای همپالکی هایشان تعریف می کردند و صحبتهایشان همچون همان ذغال مطروحه "گل" می انداخت>>>
