July 21, 2004Top * Proof? "It is impossible to know how many victims there are" but that doesn't stop Donna Hughes ["Growing sex trade"], she is ready to go after all we all know how evil the government of Iran is so there's no stretch to conjure up some of their evil little deeds. You said, "Sources indicate an exponential growth in prostitution in Iran." Of course we can't know about these sources since as she says some of the information comes from confidential sources. Let's look at the sources she does provide. There is one article that talks about 53 Iranian tribesmen going to jail. Looking a bit deeper into her articles references over here we see 28 articles listed. Let's assume there are no duplicates, over a year we have 28 articles -- some have numbers and others don't. Say 50 people arrested for prostitution that makes 1400 people, prostitutes and pimps, that were arrested. Heck there is even one article about a judge being arrested. Of course there is no mention of this in her article, even though the police are arresting these people she goes on to say "Government officials themselves are involved in trading and sexually abusing women and girls." yet gives no proof whatsoever. So are the police trying to stop the prostitution or are they making money off of it? Of course this all must be true since as she puts it Iran is a totalitarian terrorist state. And only the installation of democracy will free the Iranian people. It's sad to see that Iran has become just another way for people to get attention for their writing. Write about sex, slavery and some evil Arab men buying Iranian girls play on the traditional racism of Iranians towards Arabs and Pakistanis and who cares about facts. Throw in a few lines about the brave students who are dying by the thousands on the streets of Iran and it'll make the front page of the Iranian. Never mind that the anniversary went by without any incidents since most of the students were taking their exams that doesn't matter. What matters most is that Donna gets someone to pay attention to her paper. It's just sad to see Iran used as an instrument for academic gain. |
