Dear Azam, [Iranian diva]

I remember four years ago when Googoosh was still in Iran nobody expressed any grievances towards her. But when she came out of her shell and started her tour people started whining and accused her of not living up to their standards one way or

another. Please forgive my language but your comment was the most ridiculous of all. If I am not mistaken you are bitter against Googoosh because she failed to get a divorce soon enough to encourage other women to follow suit and get separated from their husbands. Oh my God. That was nice. Wow. Good standards for judging on the achievements of one of the greatest and most popular artists of a nation.

You make divorce sound like a haircut. As if girls could go to the court and say we want a Googooshi divorce, just like the way they used to go to the beauty parlors and ask their stylists to make it Googooshi for them.

Hey lady this is a human being we are talking about. A human being with the same feelings and loves and hates as you and me. She had every right to decide for her future and the broken marriage with a man who betrayed her.  

You know why your son loves her? Because she is a great artist. I have a friend called Annette from Australia. She heard Googoosh's song in my car for the first time about 8 years ago and fell in love with her without understanding one single word of what she is singing. She told me this is that sound and its quality and frequency that soothes her and makes it so appealing to her. She told me a very interesting thing and I would like to share it with you. She told me even you Iranians do not pay attention to the lyrics when you listen to Googoosh. You just listen to Googoosh and her lovely voice. Just like the way we listen to Dalida, Julio Iglesias and others and love them all.

As for role model, do you think you could be a better one had you been in her place 30 years ago? Are you a good model now? What kind of mother objects to her son because he simply loves a singer? What kind of art-loving person boycotts an artist because of her marriage to a bad husband? And what kind of woman spits on the ground of a nightclub just to show that she in not satisified with others private lives?

Dear Azam,

You have every right to hate an artist, but problem arises when you try to dissuade others from loving her and blame your own son for the kind of music he likes to listen to. And finally I think your lovely son has a wonderful taste in music and I am so happy listens to Googoosh aziz even if he as access to so many other kinds of music.
