Musical remix of Obama's Norooz message to Iranians

Music to our ears
by Kayvan Paymani
26-Mar-2009

Last week President Obama sent a video message to Iranians wishing them a happy new year and hoping for a new beginning in relations between the two countries. This is a musical remix of that message from www.studiopersia.com

Cool Remix

Hi K1, very good job :) keep up the good work!

I liked it, good work and keep it up. The echo effect of the speech did work. The drum machine maybe was a little bit too fast and loud. But overall it was a good experimental mix. Zooming in and out was good and effective. Try to create a few more variations and lets see what the effect will be. Try Iranian music for background and so on. Thanks for posting it.

no... absolutely not.  i couldn't agree with you more.  i just reinterate what so many others are saying as well.  this "beautiful words and empty promises" is just a tad premature.  we've just become so accustomed to the classless cronies of the last 8 years that we can't recognize a true leader.  i understand both sides of the issue... should he have recognized the IRI or should he have not.  it's a no win situation for him... you know?  he's gonna get slammed by the opposition no matter what.  that's what really gets me pissed off.  the nay-sayers are jumping on an empty slogan bandwagon "just because".  this guy has more intelligence, class and good intentions than bush and the rest of the republican party in one finger.

suomynona is exactly right and i said it elsewhere as well.  it's not up to JUST obama to make peace or better yet, SPREAD peace.  it's up to each and every one of us.  WE are the ones who are going to be affected by AND effect the changes between the US and Iran.

how 'bout let's get off our butts and DO something proactive instead of just bitching about everything.

i'm game... are you?  :-)

And I am really disappointed at the depth of your denial by pretending ignorance and claiming that Iran's so called "successful" Uranium enrichment program for energy was "OPEN" in spite of repeated claims by even the likes of Muhammd El-Baradeii who seems to have been more favorable to mullahs than any bodyelse from the start.

No I am not as shallow as you want to believe I am when it comes to international affairs, and I know that a superpower like the U.S. will never ever give up anything in exchange for NOTHING! It is not only a shallow understanding of international affairs but also quite childish! it is your friends on this site who keep arguing and demanding quite belligerently that the U.S. MUST.

Also I strongly believe you make a lot of assumptions when you claim what Qaddafi got were only a "heap of rusty pipes and boxes of unassembled equipment which never left the loading docks" lol

What did he get for his "sacrifice"? I don't know, but unless you are part of the inner circle of Qaddafi government or living and working in Libya and speaking based on actual experience, I am sure he got much more than a small carrot by Tony Blair and Sarkozy visiting him having a blast!

Dear I hope Obama does not completely shelve the human rights issues as regards Iran to please mullahs and at the expense of Iranian people as Clinton did as regards China!!!! Our situation is far worse!!!

an imagined response to Obama...

by shawhin (not verified) on

Nice one! In my mind both the text and the context of Obama’s message can be praised or scrutinized… there’s always so much that I’m automatically skeptical about: e.g. this is a propagandist message, etc, but at the same time I’m inclined to take his message at face value and appreciate it as a creative step (by the US) toward apparent constructive dialogue… I tend to get super-confused with all such matters and in the end inaction on my part often results, so recently, I’ve been thinking instead to take an active stance and go with it and see how it matures (may not be a wise decision, but who’s to say in the end…?). Anyhow, in the spirit of being more active/vocal, here’s a little video response to Pres. Obama’s Nowruz message that we put together… it’s what we would like to imagine our government’s (Iran) initial public response to be! //tehranshake.wordpress.com/2009/03/23/irans-... or on youtube at //www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXVGHcUoCyA

Virtual town hall meeting

by Majid on

Did you guys watch his "virtual town hall meeting" over the internet this morning?

No preparations for questions and answers ahead of time, no stattering, no mispronounced words, no BUllSHit !

When was the last time (or the only time) that that village idiot had guts to do such a thing?

Thank you Mr. Barak Hussein Obama.

There will be quid pro quo in ANY negotiations between Iran and the US, and I'm sure those negotiations are more advanced than us ordinary people are allowed to know at this time.

I am wondering why do you think any lifting the sanctions and returning the illegally frozen assets will be in exchange for "NOTHING"?  Have you seen any case where a superpower like the US does anything for any country for nothing?!!!

I am really disappointed at the shallowness of you knowledge of international affairs. Where do you see any resemblance between Libya's nuclear program, which Qaddafi never got off the ground, and Iran's legal, open and successful Uranium enrichment program for energy production? I challenge those of you, who cite "Libya" as an example for how Iran should behave, to draw any parallels between Iran and Libya from geopolitical, military and economic points of view.

What Qaddafi "gave up" was a heap of rusty pipes and boxes of unassembled equipment which never left the loading docks! What did he get for his "sacrifice"? I don't know, do you? Oh, yeh, Tony Blair and Sarkozy visited him and had a blast, wow! He sure got a small carrot and the short end of the BIG STICK.

by anonymous fish on

your comment was wonderfully heartfelt... thank you.

you're right... it isn't one man or one country who will make a difference.  it's going to be all of us, collectively AND individually.

iran parast.  you're also right.  i'm quite sure obama knows that as well... one DOES have to be diplomatic though...:-)

on a separate note, i wanted to say something else (as it pertains to culture and art and all that good stuff). i was downloading a bunch of pictures to make a screensaver for my azizam for norooz and i was absolutely speechless at the incredible pictures... the mosiacs and the mosques... the carvings.  what an incredible people to have created such beauty.

i did one for me for st. patricks day as well.  we've got alot of bars.

What a great man!

by farrad02 on

Every time I hear this guy I wonder if we (as Americans) appreciate and realize how lucky we are to have a President so upright, articulate and smart!!! What a difference a ffew months and an election can make in a democracy; even an imperfect democracy!

Important to know that islam and mollas do not represent Iran's culture.

Suomynona

This man is the leader of US

by Suomynona on

This man is the leader of US and many believe the world at large (at least for now).

In addition to celebrating and enjoying his words in this creative video, it is up to all of us Iranians (specially Iranian-Americans) to follow his lead and push in our own small ways for more cultural, business, educational, travel, political, etc. engagement with Iran.

Please do your part: Travel to Iran. Help relatives & friends to come & visit. Foster business ties, and help sponsor cultural exchanges.

And, continue to write your members of congress on a regular basis and demand they follow Obama's lead in opening up relations with Iran and end economic sanctions.

Together, we can overcome the haters and deamonizers.

Souri khanoom;

What do you want Obama to do? do you take him for a child?

Lifting sanctions and returning Iranian frozen assets in exchange for NOTHING?!!! Mu'ammar Qaddafi gave up everything in exchange for much less than that! What is Iran willing to do?

And Larijani is absolutely right on this. Up to now, we have only heard beautiful words from Obama-America, either on Iran or Iraq or Afghanistan, but only beautiful words and empty promises, nothing more!
