He did what Kaveh did to Zahak thousands years before. He'll be the new Persian hero from now. He's incredibly intelligent and courageous. This guy makes us all proud to be Iranian again, that's much more than making Facebook or Google. That's giving new breath to millions of people suffocating under IRI.

I was sitting in a talk by facebook founder and a Harvard math graduate, Jeff Hammerbacher,  just an hour ago. Thinking about what a different treatment towards Mahmood Vahidnia  and this guy, I almost had tears in my eyes. Vahidnia could have been a founder of another Facebook or google if not born in Iran. What a shame that our brains have to go waste fighting this medieval goverment instead of doing brilliant jobs that they are capable of.

Incredible!!!!!! another symbol for the voice of moderation and freedom. I'm suprised he was allowed full 20 mins to criticize the Leader in his presence. Very well articulated criticisms indeed. I hope he's ok

دانشگاه صنعتی شریف) با سر دادن شعارهای «الله‌اکبر»، «یاحسین، میرحسین» و
«مرگ بر دیکتاتور» نشان دادند که شعله اعتراضات خاموش نشده است.

نظر می‌رسد شعارگویی جمعه شب در حمایت از سخنان روز چهارشنبه محمود
وحیدنیا، دانشجوی ریاضی دانشگاه شریف، در دیدار «نخبگان جوان» با رهبری

موج سبز آزادی در تماس با تعدادی از فعالان دانشجویی دانشگاه صنعتی شریف
مطلع شد دانشجویان تصمیم دارند در صورت عدم حضور محمود وحیدنیا در دانشگاه
در روز شنبه، در محوطه دانشگاه تجمع کنند. روز جمعه اخباری دهان به دهان
می‌گشت که تلفن همراه محمود وحیدنیا خاموش است و خانواده او هم در پاسخ به
دوستانش گفته‌اند حال محمود خوب است، اما نمی‌تواند به تلفن جواب دهد.

Not so fast

I first read about this on a Persian language site.  One of the comments in response to this article was (I'm paraphrasing) "do you really think that this was a truley spontaneous and non-staged event?  Do you think that they would have allowed such criticsim to go on without stopping the guy?"  The commentator also mentioned that the Shah had pulled a smiliar [staged] thing during his time, and the person who was the "critic" later on (still during Shah's time) became the head of Iran's national TV. 

I personally tend to agree with the guy.  I think that this may have been staged to give the appearance of freedom of speech, especially in light of the fact that the whole thing was broadcast on IRI's TV.

Maybe Iranian of the Year! I hope they show in Iran not just VOA

Don't touch him

The incredibly brave man who stood in front and blocked the movement of column of Red Army tanks in Tiananmen Square has nothing on Vahid for number of reasons. The most important one being the Chinese man’s face and name remained unknown giving him a modicum of safety from government reprisal, not in Vahid’s case whose full name and face is known.

It is like he knowingly painted a bull’s-eye on his body for the sycophantic Basiji/Gurad thugs to aim at, then went into the viper’s den, stood up and cut him to size.

The Head Rapist Khamenei should know anything his thugs do to Vahid, it is as though the Head Rapist has personally done it and will have to answer for one more count at the ICC.

Thank you for posting the video and article. The best strategy to ensure this student's safety is to keep him in the news.....I recall the reason Ahmad Batebi, 1999 student protester, did not get executed is because his picture was on the cover of "The Economist" magazine.

Amazingly brave Iranian. islamic thugs and ahbar must have tried to pretend they listen to people and it back fired. I heard unconfirmed rumors that Mahmoud Vahidnia has disappeared since yesterday. islamic thugs will be facing more Kaveye Ahangar's everyday.
