Kiosktheband.com: Pioneers of Iran's underground music movement, Kiosk is praised for its sharp and satirical lyrics as well as its unique blend of musical styles, from rock to gypsy jazz to Iranian folk. Their fourth album, "Triple Distilled," is a compilation of new songs and old favorites, including covers of songs by Tom Waits and the unforgettable Fereydoun Farrokhzad. Kiosk has added a new dimension to their sound with this album, by incorporating gypsy-style violin, accordion, and clarinet. "Triple Distilled" features notable guest jazz musicians and was recorded live at the legendary jazz club, Yoshi's of San Francisco, making it what is likely to be the first live album in this genre since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 >>>

English Translation of Lyrics:
The black list, the hit list,
the list of Google's world wide web....
I swerved through the dark corners of the "filter net"
Finally, I found you on facebook, I" add"ed you--
and you" ignored" me.
Hundreds, hundreds of times...
I didn't falter, I didn't give up
I updated my "status" so the world would know:
I am the prey, and you are the hunter! and I'm trying to fall into your trap! Yes, I've been all over LinkedIn, MySpace, Orkut, trying to fall into your trap...
I had the guys from Fars News Agency photoshop my profile picture and make me look cool.
I uploaded romantic pictures of the sunset from "Flickr" to my
"albums" and captioned them with B.S. from Osho--
And finally, you "accepted" me
I followed you like a shadow in the "communities."
Everything you "linked," I "liked," and I "shared" too
I "tagged" your name under youtube videos, I "invited" you to "events," I through myself against doors and "walls"
Whether you think of me or not, I'll never forget you
My eyes are peeled, searching for you. I'll send you "gifts," so that you'll realize--I'll never forget you
You've set your relationship to "It's complicated." That's my cue--I'm the Don Juan of the Cyber World!
I'll "poke" you until you agree to log into skype and "chat" with me!
Even the cyber army can't stop me...
Don't stress over your blog or your "hits" on Iranian.com, Balatarin or BBC. From the cute links to the political ones-- anything goes for me.
Nothing can stop me- not Jaras, not Roozonline nor Khodnevis.
I care only for Romance!
I wrote it in "Pingilish" on Behnevis:
"Oh love, oh love! Your face is nowhere to be seen...
Oh love, oh love! Maybe they've hacked you...
Your beloved face is nowhere to be found!"
I adore your every pixel!
Don't you click me away!

Nice songs
by water. on Sun Nov 07, 2010 02:15 AM PSTand sad sad times for love and deeper moments together in the time of Facebook, Flickr and linkedIN and digicams.
I too, look for you in the endless world wide web for any information about you, for any picture of you because I have so many deep feelings for you.
I do this all stupid things, instead of coming to you and ask whether you have time for a simple cup of coffee.... and nothing more.
Live from Yoshi in San
by Arthimis on Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:25 PM PDTLive from Yoshi in San Francisco! This Live Version of the same song is much nicer in my opinion: (Both Arash's voice and the band's performance which proves they are indeed a great underground band...) :-))

The Album
by HHH on Wed Nov 03, 2010 10:26 PM PDTThe other songs in this album are much better than this facebook song with it's usual mispronounciations like "Staatoos".
Mr. Sargord do you really like Rap?! The only decent part of that video is the middle-eastern violin tune. Without that 3 seconds, the rest is just a gang's Rap 1 letter short of Crap.
Me Likey!
by bahmani on Wed Nov 03, 2010 03:47 PM PDTThe best (and worst) thing about Kiosk is that it is specifically crafted just for you, the Free-Iranian in pain, living outside of Iran (even if you live inside Iran).
The only bad (or good) thing is Kiosk doesn't translate outside of our little club of losers, and since we as Iranians rarely reward our geniuses like Arash with enough cash to do more, faster, it takes a while for him to save up enough from his day-job, to pay for these kinds of cupid-pointed expressions of love for us, just to wow us with his wit and not too shabby guitar-work.
And he always does. And we always go, "Wow!"
Great job as usual Arash-jan, Grrrrbonnet!
Just fantastic!!
by Ari Siletz on Wed Nov 03, 2010 03:19 PM PDTBeautiful composition overall: instrumentals, video, lyrics. Kiosk contrasts a self effacing sense of humor with profound emotions; this is our Khayaam legacy. Also, the hidden statements layered underneath are a delight to discover and mull over. For example, the incessant teasing about how our traditional poetic vocabulary no longer fills the needs of modern expression. Unspoken context is what elevates entertainment to art.
My favorite line
آی عشق آی عشق فکر کنم هکت کردن رنگ آشنای چهره ات پیدا نیست
IMHO
by TheMrs on Wed Nov 03, 2010 01:59 PM PDTThey're a great band. But this song sucks.

Great Album
by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Nov 02, 2010 01:58 PM PDTThe video is really good and creative. The whole "Triple Distilled" album is absolutely wonderful. It's a delight to listen too... every goddamn song! I always get worried when good bands and musicians put out new stuff, worried that it won't be as good, that there's no forward progress. This time there's nothing to worry about. Congrats to Kiosk!
He looks like Luke Wilson

by Dirty Angel on Tue Nov 02, 2010 01:15 PM PDTAlthough, pleased to see a video without a contents of serious mutilation of films - Parajanov was one one the greatest film makers of all time, HOW DARE YOU!?!
YOU MUTILATE!
( it's criminal theft actually, not to mention serious yuckiness, just ... //www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFRworsIhW4), I somewhat don't get it:
What exactly is the point of the image of the second female in the beginning of the video?
And what is the point of these lyrics?
" Thank god for botox; my facial expressions are wearing rather thin...."
Fantastic.... :D
by Arthimis on Tue Nov 02, 2010 11:16 AM PDTArash and Kiosk are one of the coolest Iranian bands ever... I have followed them since 2004 with all of their albums even the ones with the original singer in Iran who never made it to the free world, unfortunately... My non-Iranian friends also have loved their music and I have been proud sharing their songs with them...
Here is another version (LIVE) that I have shared on my facebook at least five times in last month, LOL . I love this particular performance:

Yara jan thanks for posting the lyrics in Persian
by Hoshang Targol on Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:39 AM PDTI printed the lines and listened to the song for the 3rd time. Just in terms of poetic refrences he cites: Nima, Shamlo, Forough, Behrangi.
Looks like the lyrics in Persian runs some extra lines, not covered in the video. Some of these lines are destined to become instant pop-culture " classics":

وقتی نستالژیک میشم از خودم بدم میاد
آدمی که فردا نداره با هاس فقط دیروز یادش بیاد

Do I have too express my self, Again
by عموجان on Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:29 AM PDTYes, that's all I (we) can do to support Kisok and other great under ground musician to let them know they are doing a great job and thank them for their hard work, before Islam execute them.
I like Kisok style, this is another good one.
Long live under ground music.
It is nice song but in real life the person might not appreciate
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:17 AM PDTEven though it is a nice song but if you think about it, in real life, if someone did all these things, majority of the time the other side will not appreciate it.
Now that I am reading the Persian lyrics, as another commentator noted, the references to poem of "Koocheh' of Moshiri is really nice.

Thanks to whoever did the first translation of the song, And Aref-adib for the hyperlinked translation (which i posted on my fb so my non-persian speaking friends could understand my enthusiasm about Kiosk's new album)
