Re the Cyrus cult

Dear TL, I personally respect Cyrus The Great as a great Iranian. Yet, I can see your point on him becoming a cult of personality, and everyone trying to score points by invoking it to the point of overkill. Like the way 12 Emams and 14 infallibles are used by the IRI, or farther back, when Shah tried to burrow credence from Cyrus and Darius! IMHO, the main culprit lies in our nation's emotional vulnerabilities that allow opportunists and crooks of all stripes to tap into them and take advantage of them by alternately invoking the religious or nationalistic fervours!

I stopped listening within 15seconds of the Cyrus cult crap

Get an ef'inn' grip on reality. Cyrus was a politically savvy warrior, with a few decrees jammed up on a scroll to get Babylonians and the rest of the empire to pay f'in' taxes. Anyone else who objected got cut their ears and noses cut off (some might say, that's the psychological origin of rhinoplasty) or was buried in sand up to the head to be Zorastionized with the Mir of the Sun. 

Stop the bullshit! You  are continuing to make  Iranian culture,  the laughing stock of the world. 

Secondly, has anyone done a study about percentage per capita of human rights abuses in Iran within the past 60 odd years, since the foundations of the UN?
