He is that lone tree

on the peak of the mountain

Steadfast

Solitary

Staring in the eyes of the sun.


What he says

What he thinks

are his emerald leaves

the gemstone of the silvery mount

they dance in the arms of the wind

they sing a melody in silence.


He is that tree

unreachable by fire

untouchable by the axe

every spring he renews his green oath

so that it becomes a spark in the eyes of the young

a word upon their lips

a cry upon their pens.


Alone

facing the storm

he is that everlasting image

in the memory of the mountain.

with his feet in chains

He sings a melody in silence.
