In 1979 Iranians introduced a new form of social revolution. In place of the guerrilla-style armed struggle that had characterized the twentieth-century revolutions in non-western countries, the Iranians modeled a spontaneous nonviolent mass movement. And much to the experts' surprise, in less than 2 years this movement overthrew a dictatorial monarchy that had the backing of both Western powers and the strongest army in the Middle East>>>

تظاهرات ۶ دی نشان داد که اولا جنبش سبز به رغم سرکوب‌های خشن حکومت به لحاظ کمی و کیفی به صورت بی‌سابقه‌ای گسترش یافته است؛ ثانیا خواست اصلی مردم در نفی ولایت فقیه خلاصه شده و تردیدی در این مورد باقی نمانده است؛ و ثالثا حاکمیت با سرکوب‌های پیاپی خود راه‌های آشتی و حل مسالمت‌آمیز بحران سیاسی موجود را بسته است. خامنه‌ای اکنون در یک بن بست قرار گرفته است. اگر به اعمال خشونت ادامه دهد نتیجه‌ای جز افزایش نفرت مردم نخواهد گرفت چیزی که ممکن است در نهایت به حد انفجار برسد و او و بساط حکومتش را با هم بر باد دهد>>>

جنگ جنگ تا پیروزی

"جنگ پدر همه چیز است!" یکی‌ از فلاسفه یونانی گفته یعنی‌، تقریبا تمام پیشرفتها صنعتی، ابداعات و اختراعات بشر به جنگ بر میگردد. شخصاً معتقدم که، بشر هم موجود خبیثی است! شش ماه قبل از حمله گسترده صدام، ایران عملا با عراق در حال مخاصمه بود. مذهبی‌‌ها شورش و انقلابی مشابه را در بغداد با حمایت خمینی برنامه ریزی کرده بودند، که لو رفت و گروه امام موسی صدر تار و مار شدند. دوباره یک مشت ایرانی‌ تبار را از عراق اخراج کردند و به لحاظ اون، عملیات توپخانه‌ای بین دو طرف بطور پراکنده سر گرفت. دو هفته قبل از حمله، صدام مادر قحبه جلوی صد تا خبرنگار، قرار داد ترک مخاصمه‌ای را که پنج سال قبل با شاه بسته بود، پاره کرد>>>

On the Ropes

The military regime in Tehran is in its final days. The signs of an imminent collapse, perfectly traceable on the Iranian streets, are evading the most prominent Washington experts. The slogans on the walls, the nighttime chorus of Allah-o-akbar on the rooftops, the crowds chanting "death to the dictator," all signaling a collective defiance despite the brutal backlash, and all reflecting a mass mobilization unseen since the 1979 revolution. Multiplied, not Humiliated

The on-camera martyrdom of Neda Agha-Soltan, the 26-year old philosophy student shot dead during the protests after the fraudulent presidential election in Iran in June, caught the imagination of the world. But the post-election crackdown has two other victims whose fates better capture the radical shift in the country’s political culture. One victim was the protester Taraneh Mousavi, detained, reportedly raped and murdered in prison, and her body burned and discarded. The other is Majid Tavakoli, the student leader arrested on December 8, after a fiery speech denouncing dictatorship during the demonstrations on National Student Day>>>

«پدر حقوق بشر»؟

تا کنون لقب «پدر حقوق بشر ايران» متعلق به کورش بزرگ بود و او را ـ به خاطر تاکيد بر چند اصل مهم مثل آزادی مذهب، لغو برده داری، و آزادی انتخاب مکان زيست و مجری آن شدن ـ با اين عنوان بزرگ می خوانند. اما آيا به راستی چگونه می شود هم به اعلاميه ی تبعيض برانداز حقوق بشر معتقد بود و هم هر کسی را (هر چقدر خوب و مومن) که تا دم رفتن به نهاد ولايت فقيه و قانون اساسی تبعيض آفرين جمهوری اسلامی باور داشت و او را «پدر حقوق بشر» خواند؟>>>
