If I was rich I would make this as a competition since it is serious. If you were to become a leader or a very important politician in Iran, what do you think would be the first thing you should be doing? Or maybe what are the top 3 actions you would consider taking. You really need to consider the fact that there is nothing so far done properly. You should consider every aspect of daily life including international issues related to Iran. And finally try to be as realistic as possible.

You couldn't do much
by Mehdi on Sun Jun 01, 2008 10:57 PM PDTIf you had some power in Iran, you could not do much because you would have had to be approved by other authorities or even people. One couold not reach up the ladder if one is not showing quite a lot of agreement with the existing system. You could do only a little. In time you might be able to slowly make some changes that would be somewhat significant.
That is the reason why with so many people against the current regime, nobody has had any significan following. Even people who have left the country in protest, do not support any one person widely.
So to say that if I was a leader I would empower educational system or something else is not very realistic. Obviously someone would stop you, just like they are doing now. For example, Bazargaan and Bani Sadr were stopped when they tried to do something.
More ideas
by John on Sun Jun 01, 2008 11:35 AM PDT1) Voluntary (i.e. not due to American-led coups or assassinations) regime change, or at the very least a new President, one with a brain and a conscience.
2) Reconciliation with the West in order to avoid impending bombing, death and destruction.
3) Iranian men to join the 20th or 21st century and acknowledge the equality of women, and to accept that if they can't control their horny urges it is due to their own conduct, not due to the conduct or comportment of Iranian women (glorious creatures, one and all).
4) Since JJ cheated with seven ideas, I'll give a fourth: forsake all religions and find the freedom that a non-religious life will give.
Ideas
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jun 01, 2008 09:55 AM PDT-- Building and supplying schools in rural and disadvantaged areas.
-- Connecting as many schools to the Internet.
-- Giving cheap and/or used computers to the neediest.
-- Shelters and job training for battered women and single mothers.
-- Rural community centers for children to gather, play and learn during free and after-school hours.
-- Mobile internet buses that would visit rural areas and introduce children to the wonders of computers and the world beyond their isolated village.
-- Mobilizing Iranian high school graduates and college students abroad to do volunteer work in Iran's rural areas, building schools and libraries, improving health and hygiene conditions, teching.... This would be something like the Peace Corps but entirely run and funded by private individuals, without any involvement by U.S. or foreign government institutions.
