Dear Divaneh, some subjects might seem not important but

they are. To some people, writing about my Greek neighbor might seem not an important subject. However, there is a point to it. Not that I compare myself to our famous poets but in any case, some of them lived in Diaspora for some years and their poems are very sad. As of now, many of us have lived for decades in Diaspora for many years.  We have made a home for ourselves in these countries and our reality is different than what those poets or even we experienced years ago when we had just left Iran. It is important that this new reality be reflected in our literature.

دیوانه جان , حالا شما همه را له نکن .

میگم حتمأ دفعه دیگر دعوتت کنند . این همسایه ما تلفن , ایمیل تو کارش نیست , برای دعوت هم باید بیاید زنگ درتون را بزنه تا دعوت کنه . شاید خانه تشریف نداشتید . حالا میگم به کفتر نت ببنده , بفرسته دعوتش را با کفتر توی حیاط خونه تون .

به تو هم می گویند همسایه؟

ای بی معرفت یونانی باز هم پارتی گرفته ای و مرا دعوت نکرده ای؟ پس من هم این گلهای توی باغچه ات را له می کنم تا دلم خنک شود. این جوری، آها، آها این جوری، دلم خنک شد. انشاالله اون سوفلاکی کوفتت بشه.

شعر خیلی قشنگی بود آناهید جان. معلوم نمود برای شاعر خوب هر چیزی می تواند سوژه شعر باشد و حتی با شکم گرسنه هم میتواند شعرهای خوب بگوید.

I am glad that you liked my poem and thanks for your words of encouragement. By the way, to just write about Botehaye sefeed, sorkh and soorati, does not do justice to my neighbor. Maybe I should take a picture of all the flowers at front of their house and later when poem is not featured, use that as picture for this blog.

Ahang jan, since you wrote about Greek restaurant, I have to mention that in Portland, my twin sister and I used to a go to a Greek restaurant. At the time, we were in our early 20s. Couple times when we were there, the people from restaurant asked us if we wanted to work there. I guess we looked close enough to those from Greece. همسایه یونای من

سالها پیش

پیش از اینکه از خشکی به دریا برم

شاید هم پیش تر از اون

همسایه یونانی من

یه ته ریشی هم داشت...چاق و خپل بود

آلمانی رو با لهجه یونانی حرف میزد

گاهی میرفتم پیشش

نه برای اینکه یونانی بود

نه برای اینکه چاق و خپل بود

بخاطر ریش بی ریختش هم نبود

ولی یه چیزی داشت

برای این میرفتم

یک رستوران داشت...با غذای یونانی

و من عاشق دلمه

شعر نبود ها...
