Inspire me only with your Best

If I am ought to be inspired

If the poems are there

for me to catch a few

Let mine be only

the most heavenly

Let them fly on angels' wings

Move the earth

be like brightest stars

There are those who say

a poet has to catch a poem

as it flies his or her way

In that case,

Send me only your best

Those which bring hope to masses

Help the lovers connect

Let me write a poem

which lets people imagine

an earth closer to the heaven

Spare me the mundane

That I can do on my own

Inspire me only with your best.

Dear Ryszard, thanks for reading my poem and also for your comment. What a poetic comment you wrote, I like it.

Fragmented Heaven

by Ryszard Antolak on

"Let me write a poem
which lets people imagine
an earth closer to the heaven"

Heaven and Earth, I think, are already closer than we think, mixed together and scattered in a million pieces all about us. And all our lives we spend piecing together the fragments in order to build our own personal (imperfect) versions of that original Paradise.

Thank you, Anahid,  for your thoughtful poem

I was making changes to this as it got featured

by Anahid Hojjati on

so a slightly different version of this poem is:

There are those who say

Poems are there in nature
or as some events happen
A poet can catch a poem or two
To this, I shall say:
If I am ought to be inspired
If the poems are there
for me to catch some
Let mine be only
the most heavenly
Let them fly on angels' wings
Move the earth
be like brightest stars
Poems which bring hope to masses
Help the lovers connect
or remind a cold homeless fellow
of that summer day

so very long ago

Let me write a poem
which lets people imagine
an earth closer to the heaven
Spare me the mundane
That I can do on my own
Inspire me only with your best.

This is in reference to a speech by "Elizabeth Gilbert"

by Anahid Hojjati on

Elizabeth Gilbert is an author who has written "Eat, pray, and Love". I saw video of speech from her in which she talked about her believing in poets being inspired. Sometimes, when I write some poems, it seems to be more like that but then the result is not like a Hafez poem :).  So my point in this poem is that if I am supposed to be inspired, then it better be real good, since the not so good one, I can also write on my own with no help from being inspired. It is kind of like the saying:"did I shave my legs for this"?

Yes, sometimes, I feel like saying:"did I get inspired with this, why couldn't I have been inspired with a much better poem :) ?".
