In the name of God the most compassionate, ever merciful
NAMAZ
Namaz or daily prayer is one of the required devotional obligations for a Moslem to perform. It is not my intention in this blog to fully describe what Namaz is nor what devotional obligations are, nor try to fully describe the verses of the Holy Quran.
However, I will be emphasizing the importance of this daily prayer for the believers based on certain personal ‘special’ experiences that I have had.
One can read about the details of Namaz (Salat) in a good book about Islamic practices, or listen to a good religious authority or a Moslem scholar. All these sources will tell you about the value and the necessity of proper Namaz and some might even specify some dos and don’ts regarding this daily prayer.
Let’s start with an important ‘do’ when performing Namaz. Perform it on time and unless there is a good reason, don’t delay nor miss it! You would know what a good reason is and what is not a good reason and it should not be necessary to try to give examples. If you don’t already have a Namaz alarm clock/device then get one for yourself and use it. When the time for Namaz comes, don’t delay unless there is a very good and valid reason to do so.
God does not need for us to do the Namaz, we need to do it if we are devoted to him and understand that he does take notice if you perform Namaz willingly and with love for him.
The main part of Namaz is the Sureh Al-Hamd (Al-Fatiha) which is the first Sureh in the Holy Quran. This Sureh must be spoken in the original Arabic language form during Namaz. However, you can ‘think’ the meaning of each verse in your mother language (Persian, English, etc) after you say that verse in Arabic. It is utterly important for those who don’t understand Arabic to FULLY understand each verse of this Sureh!
Let’s look at it briefly:
1. In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful [Best description for God, the lord of all that is known and all that is unknown, all things must start with his name]
2. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the all that exists. [This particular verse is used over and over in the Holy Quran and for good reason too. Please see my previous blog named ‘Thanking God’]
3. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. [Certainly it is good that we have “the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful” God, see the next verse for the reason why?]
4. The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) [The only one who knows everything about what we have done in this world is God, and it’s so good to have him as the “the Only Ruling Judge” of the Judgment day because he delivers the ultimate justice with most grace and mercy.]
5. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything). [This is one of the most important verses for us to obey. We must only worship God and we should ONLY ask HIM for help! Remember this is from Quran and Namaz, ONLY ask HIM for help!]
6. Guide us to the path that is straight. [We are asking him for the path of truth, the bright light of divine guidance. One will be guided to this path that remains pure and submits to the will of God.]
7. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace (the blessed), not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger (i.e. those who knew the Truth, but did not follow it) nor of those who went astray (i.e. those who did not follow the Truth out of ignorance and error).
Finally, I would like to add that in another part of Namaz we say “Sami Allaho Liman Hamedeh” which means that “God will listen to those who praise him” and I have not only observed that to be true in many, many occasions personally but also a couple of years ago had a ‘special’ message telling me the same thing in a different way as well.
Thanks for taking time reading this and I will be trying to add more blogs of this nature in the future. This however may take some time (weeks or even months from now). So check my blog list //iranian.com/main/member/anonym from time to time for any new ones that may be added.

by Anonym on Mon Aug 29, 2011 08:44 AM PDTWith the exception of the Sureh Hamd or Fatehe which is known as the 'key' and should be spoken in native Arabic (but it's good to think each verse of it in Farsi too), the rest of Namaz can be done in Farsi.
Thanks.

There is much written on the Hamd/Fatihe Sureh and there is much interpretation on it. It is my belief that this Sureh is made to be a set of easy to follow and understand words created by our lord on purpose. This is so that even the simplest of people could understand every word of it easily as they recite it to their Lord.
Please note the first part of Quran Sureh 3, 7 which indicates:
"He has sent down this book which contains some verses that are categorical and basic to the Book and others that are allegorical.”
It is my belief that most of this Sureh is a categorical one and should not be subject to too much interpretation. Probably the last verse, #7, could be interpreted but just put down the exact translation from the copy of the Quran that I had used.
The twelve Imams have been righteous and upright individuals and from what we know as Moslems, they were among the highly blessed, especially Imams Ali and Husayn. So they are clearly among the ‘blessed’ indicated in verse #7.
In my case, I have been corrected on some of the things that I had indicated in the past by certain ‘special’ experiences. So I am very careful about the divine related matter that I post in public ... very careful. In short, if you are confident on what you have indicated, then so be it.
As for the secrets of worship, in addition to what is already indicated in the blog, I could add the following:
The more pure we become, the more Satan tries to interrupt and spoil our prayer. So when that happens, we must ask God to protect us against Satan’s attempts. Again, this usually happens when one reaches the greater purity and may not affect others as much.
Also would like to also emphasize on the fact that proper Namaz/Prayer done willingly from the heart is our ticket to a better life supported by God in this world. I have had more than one message on this.
If other things come to me, I’ll indicate them in this blog later.
Salam va Alykom

by Tabarzin on Sun Aug 28, 2011 03:41 AM PDTPlease also discuss more on the subject of the secrets of worship (asrar al-'ibada). If I may be permitted, this is my translation and short esoteric commentary on the Fatiha
--
In the name of God the Compassionate, the Merciful! [19 letters indicate the pleroma consisting of God, the 4 Archangels of the Throne [Israfil, Mika'il, Jibra'il and Izra'il] and the 14 infallibles as the symbolic basis of creation. 19 also is the abjad numerical value of the word wujud/existence and one/wahid. The four words of the bismillah indicate the 4 worlds of lahut/divinity, jabarut/empyrean, malakut/angelic world and mulk/dominion who are personified as Muhammad/bism, 'Ali/allah, Fatima/al-rahman and Husayn/al-rahim].
Praise be unto God the Lord of all the worlds! [The Lord of the Worlds refers to the Presence of Divinity, which is the First Intellect/'aql awwal, otherwise known as the Nur Ahmadi/the Most Praised Light, which is the first thing created by the Unknowable Godhead who is beyond all knowledge and all categories of lordship because nothing exists with the Hidden Ipseity/dhat al-ghayb for It to be lord to anything because It is "One without peer of equal" and so is beyond the understanding of even the concept of lordship].
The Compassionate, the Merciful! [This refers to the process of the formal instantiation of the worlds from the stage of latent pregnany of the immutable archetypal forms/a'yan thabita of the kosmos in the world of lahut/divinity from potency to act in the world of jabarut/empyrean].
Sovereign of the Day of Judgement! [Sovereignty belongs to the First Intellect as the first emanation of the Godhead who creates all the forms of the kosmos and likewise annihilates them. The Day of Judgement of each thing is its annihilation in one form and its resurrection into another higher or lesser form, depending on its providential preparedness/isti'dad].
To Thee do we render worship and from Thee do we seek for aid. [This instances the Origination/mabda' and the Return/ma'ad as worship returns to its Source what its Source has given as aid].
Guide us upon the straight Path [the Sirat al-mustaqim refers to the Eternal Wilaya of the Ahl al-Bayt who are the Personified Gates of Divinity and the Face of God/wajh allah].
The Path of those Thou hast bestowed grace; not those who have been shown anger, or those gone astray! [The Path of grace is the Path of the Imams and Guides of Light and their gnostic initiates; the path of anger is the path of the guides of darkness and misguidance. Those gone astray are those who have followed the guides of darkness, the masters of the counter-initiation].
Wa Allahu A'lam!
