It seems that we have lost Mr. Kadivar as a Contributor

You knew very well that these people just do not get along but you featured a blog that criticized Mr. Kadivar and Fred and this naturally lead to personal attacks by all sides.  This was not a first time you allowed a featured blog regarding Mr. Kadivar. What were you thinking?

I saw that entery by Mr. Kadivar and it was not pleasant but what the hell do you expect to happen to a public person?

The blog got so toxic that you had to shut it down and at the end it had nothing to do with Mr. Kadivar either.

Sorry Mr. JJ. I really like you and respect what you have done for the Iranian American community with this site. However,  you should have known better. You know exactly what I am talking about!

Please do not feature this blog. Thank you.

by Bavafa on

I am wondering if IC and Iranian community as in general can handle the loss of such gem.

Having said that, I agree with Zal that he has a temper a bit like Reza Shah, the lion (khoda be dadet berese age asabanish besheh) but also a bit like his son (Mohammad Reza Shah) more of a pussy cat (just hot air)

Temper??

by HollyUSA on

"I saw Kadivar on the this and other cases and noting that he has a bit
of temper, I can also say it comes out only when provoked and this case
was no exception."

The fact that one has the time to type a comment, the opportunity to review before posting, and unless someone posts 'Reply' to it, one even has the opprtunity to edit it after the fact, I'd say having a 'temper' is a very poor excuse for poor behavior. Especially when one doesn't know when to quit. And he's not by any means alone in that issue, on the site.

And in 'his' particular case, anything said against the Pahlavi's seems to constitute 'provocation'. Well, the meaning of the word 'provocation' is not such I'm afraid.

I've had a few comments removed by JJ/Admin and I didn't consider it fair. I still wouldn't criticize their handling of the issue since it is an exceedingly difficult job. But we Iranians tend to be excellent at giving the 'lengesh kon' command.

My only criticism is why just ban people temporarily? You set the rules, you give them fair warning, and if they still can't get their act together you kick them out for good...unless the banning is really a 'time out' in which case it should be referred to as such.

Easter Sunday for Kadivar's Resurrection (to Hajminator)

by kharmagas on

Hajminator, based on my calculations Kadivar's resourection is going to happen right about Sunday. Despite all the efforts of my good hamshahri (AI) Kadivar's resurrection in holly land was rejected (not sure why?). So, Hajminator-e azeez, since you are in France, you need to be prepared to welcome him back!

Souri jAn, thanks.

Zal

jj, the problem with your response and approach is you inability

by Zal on

to apply it uniformly. There are many posts or comments that do not contain any curse or seemigly offensive language but they are both. They are intended to be inflammatory and provocative in a negative and derogatory sense. Since you remove things by flag, honing on a curse word, or other obvious sign, effectively you are censoring and in a crude manner. Either you have to be up to speed on all comments and tone of a thread or you are censoring.

I saw Kadivar on the this and other cases and noting that he has a bit of temper, I can also say it comes out only when provoked and this case was no exception. But you only saw his use of the F word.

Just today, you removed 2-3 of my comments all of which were essentially making fun of the author or a commentator by listing a prescription of various medications intended for psyhotherapy. My comment was in response to a blog by No Fear supporting AN and the blog and comments of the author are essentially fabrications of various form, never mind, the very nature of it that is against common sense and decency. Freedom of expression is a complex dilemma for a website to manage specially for opinionated and segmented Iranian community.

Your explanation is a rather poor one unfortunately and raises more questions than it answers. You can't have it both ways.

AI, thank you for bringing this up.

'ma liberte de penser' for next couple of days!

by kharmagas on

By no means I think JJ's response was unreasonable. But since Kadivar will be a khodA biAmorz for next couple of days, I post this link in his memory and azAdAri: (it is 'ma liberte de penser' and has no profanity, although that temporary marhoum liked it!)

Avoid using the "reply" link under the comments. If you do and post a comment, your comment becomes "attached" to the comment you are replying to. Then if someone flags the original comment and it gets deleted, all the attached comments will be deleted automatically by the publishing system as well.

And JJ,

about 4-5 of my posts were deleted. Some were in reponse to Kadivar but contained no profanity, and in fact one of them was very conciliatory toward him.

JJ jan, I am looking forward to that!

by Setareh Cheshmakzan on

I am so bored with people who resort to personal attack, rudeness and slander because they have nothing of substance to say, and more miserably still, have no sense of humour to say something funny and creative without fouling themselves.

I am sure JJ will unblock his account, but it was good for him to know he doesn't have blue blood and this is not his personal kingdom.

JJ hasn't unblocked MY account. And it's been quite a while! Maybe DK will come back as DK II though. DK is actually one of the best contributers to this website and often makes cultural posts unrelated to politics or current events. I have no idea why people like DK get blocked and useless abusive trolls like Q don't. The editorial policy on this website makes no sense to me whatsoever.

...and won't send him any naked pictures of myself...

What the hell you talking about anonymous111.2? It's NOT ok to send people porn now? You mean I wasted half the morning looking for just the right clip to send to IRANdokht!? :o

JJ, say it ain't so!

I will stop sexually harassing Multiple Personality Disroder, and won't send him any naked pictures of myself despite his request for porn in his featured blog.

Well everyone gets blocked

by Shepesh on

Well everyone gets blocked at some point. I like Darius and hope he is back soon. people are stressed and it is hard times for us all. Hope we all tone it down a bit.

I like to see his smiling face back soon.

I am trying to run a website where people try to be creative and learn something through exchange of ideas. No one has any patience with people who fight and curse.

yes JJ you are right ofcourse. you also have a reputation to maintain.

Kadivar

by Jahanshah Javid on

I warned Darius a few days earlier that if he continues to use profanity and make personal attacks, his account would be blocked.

Yesterday this is how he started one of his comments: "FUCK YOU Q! (IF JJ YOU DELETE I WILL RESPOND AGAIN".

Imagine the rest.

So I deleted his comment and blocked his account. Just like I did a few days earlier with another user who kept calling Darius a fag.

I am trying to run a website where people try to be creative and learn something through exchange of ideas. No one has any patience with people who fight and curse.

Darius will be unblocked in a couple of days.

The blog he's talking about was written after this one:

//iranian.com/main/blog/darius-kadivar/sa...

What's that saying again: what's good for the goose is good for the gander?

I hate it when people do not tell the whole story and try to fish the muddy waters.  Although I do not know what Darius said to get himself blocked, I know he was going overboard with personal attacks when he had nothing of substance to add to a discussion.

I am sure JJ will unblock his account, but it was good for him to know he doesn't have blue blood and this is not his personal kingdom.
