Many sayings in the Persian language have their origins in the works of our great classical poets. Still, I find it amazing that a single poem of Nezami Ganjavi contains so many of our beloved Persian sayings. Here are selected verses. Dear BParhami, I agree with you where you write in your blog:"Many sayings in the Persian language have their origins in the works of our great classical poets. " Our classical poets were not just poets, many were philosophers and scientists, therapists, you name it.  Here are some great sayings from Hafez:

شب تاریک و بیم موج و گردابی چنین هایل     کجا دانند حال ما سبکباران ساحلها

هر که آمد بجهان نقش خرابی دارد                در خرابات بگویید که هشیار کجاست

خلوت گزیده را بتماشا چه حاجتست             چون کوی دوست هست بصحرا چه حاجتست

نه من از بی عملی در جهان ملولم و بس       ملامت علما هم ز علم بی عملست

شاهد آن نیست که مويی و میانی دارد          بندهُ طلعت آن باش که آنی دارد
