We had a storage problem. Garage cabinets were the solution. You see, even though Iranian.com is chiefly a community resource, it is also a business, and a business has to keep records. And even though it's a small business, the records of years and years of content becomes voluminous.
What was the solution? We tried scanning. After all, bits don't take up much space. But I worried that we would need the original if we ever got called upon to "prove" anything.
Enter garage storage cabinets -- my salvation. I could keep the records safe and dry, out of the way, but not too far away. Happily, I had some extra space in my garage, that worked out. I have some overhead garage storage, but I worried that the records wouldn't be safe up there. So I just left it in the cabinets.
I didn't just dump all the records in a single cabinet. I used some garage organizers to separate the bank statements from the advert information. That will make it much easier to find something if we ever need to return. It is critical to have a good organization system, especially when you don't deal with the records on a daily basis.
I worry a bit that I'm making a mistake using wood storage cabinets as I've heard that they can promote rot and mildew. Several friends has suggested that I try melamine cabinets or even metal ones instead. I disagree -- not because they are wrong, but because I am too cheap to replace the existing wooden cabinets that grace my garage.
I'll let you know how it goes, but for now, I'm pretty psyched.
