by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Aug 09, 2011 01:32 PM PDTI do not see too much lack of compassion. Mostly congratulations for the new born. As well as sympathy for her not having a father. Some raise questions over the cause of death but that is not lack of compassion.
Yes there were a few ***holes who said inappropriate things. But for most part people are sympathetic.
I assure you that I am.
In real cases of suicide the cause is psp
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Tue Aug 09, 2011 01:07 PM PDTSevere depressions create psycho-somatic pain psp.
The mind body connection, no one knows which way around it is, either there is a big pain in the body, say some organ, which causes a person to have depression ie negative thoughts/low motivation/no relationships/no sex drive etc. or the person has depression and then experiences pain in the body.
The reason for suicide is the pain is so severe and 24/7 that the person eventually succumbs, first the mind is altered to the point where no positive thinking can occur and it is finally followed by losing their will to live. Though even that takes years for the pain to repeatedly break a person and alter their mind where they have no positive thinking ability, and guess what no one is going to be able to hide that. Especially not if their wife to be has a phD in psychology. And in Iranian families that communicate often its even harder to hide it if he had wanted to.
His family explained he had depression (by saying you never know whats going on in a person which is true). If he had severe depression, did he never mention anything to anyone about the physical pain and agony he would have been experiencing 24/7? Why would he not see a doctor for medication for depression or go for some alternative treatment?
If it was depression and suicide, I pity the lack of compassion present among individuals with hate filled comments that have no idea the physical agony that can lead to suicide. The same people who expect 100% to have the same compassion if they were ever in a similar debilitating situation.
Back to ARP, The way he was with people that saw him, the gym, the fiancee, the child etc... they don't support even a remote possibility of having severe depression. Depression is just too unlikely, how did he create a relationship and produce a child, depressed people lose their sex drive. Very confusing.
Re: Just wondering
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:17 PM PDTHe should've been very disturbed mentally.
Or maybe it wasn't suicide?
Just wondering as you are. The more I think of it the less it makes sense to me why indeed.
Just wondering
by statira on Tue Aug 09, 2011 10:57 AM PDTWhy anyone with such beautiful, intelligent fiance who is also expecting a child commit suicide. He should've been very disturbed mentally.
Incidently this is the same photo they used for his funeral.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Aug 08, 2011 04:14 AM PDTThe relationship that ended was with Sarah Tabatabai; the child was born to Raha Didevar. That sounds like a different woman to me. Now do you get it dude?
The part that is puzzling is why did he commit suicide when expecting a child. Maybe he did not know. Maybe he was too depressed to think clear. Or maybe there is more to it.
Just don't know.
I Don't Get It!
by HHH on Mon Aug 08, 2011 01:19 AM PDTHow could this be Alireza's child when the two separated in 2001?!
And would he take his own life when his fiancee & him were expecting a baby?!!!!!
Something fishy going on.
Congratulation

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Aug 06, 2011 08:30 AM PDTBeing divorced does not mean being without a father. I am divorced and very involved with my children. In reality I spend more time with my kids than my ex does. Although she does her part.
However not having a father is a real tragedy. Specially when he comitted suicide. Now I know there are questions over whether is really was a suicide. But I got with the official thing.
Growing up without a father is a minor thing here
by Rea on Sat Aug 06, 2011 07:34 AM PDTThere are so many of us divorced, our children growing up with one parent only.
It's rather about being a Pahlavi child, it's a heavy burden for a kid.
@Faramarz, honey, how do you pronounce Irena ? ;o)
A New Beginning
by Faramarz on Sat Aug 06, 2011 06:39 AM PDTI took a moment and looked her up on the web.
She is a highly educated and accomplished person, post doc., 37, a school teacher, a psychologist, and an AIDS volunteer who spent time in Kenya.
Her favorite people are her parents, Princess Diana, Mother Teresa and Rumi.
Best wishes to her.
Rea,
Iryana is most likely pronounced Eryana and not Ariana (which is a common Persian name.)
This is both
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Aug 06, 2011 06:32 AM PDTgood news and bad news. Good to have a child born to the Pahlavi family who did so much for Iran. Bad for her to be without a father.
As a father myself I would never leave my child without a father. But depression took its toll from prince Ali Reza. Now his child must go without ever knowing her father. A real shame.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Aug 06, 2011 06:08 AM PDTShut the *** up and show some respect for the gone. You know depression is a disease and results in things like suicide. My family knew him personally and he was a good man. Watching our {not sure yours} nation go to hell will depress anyone. Some deal with it in different ways. He was not able to bear any more of this. I do not approve of suicide but do respect him as a man. Why don't you stop being such an *** and take some lessons in manners.
Love the name ;o)
by Rea on Sat Aug 06, 2011 05:45 AM PDTNew baby is always a sign of renaissance. And shoud be wished good luck by everybody, regardless of their political affiliations.
PS. how is Iryana pronounced ?
I echo what Roozbeh said
by Reality-Bites on Sat Aug 06, 2011 03:34 AM PDTAlthough I'm not an anti-Monarchist per se (I'm neither anti nor pro) I totally support the sentiments in Roozbeh's comment and the general positive goodwill towards this baby by most posters.

What a coward for commiting
by Zamin on Fri Aug 05, 2011 07:41 PM PDTWhat a coward for commiting suicide.. Don't expect much from Pahlavi's though... Except for Reza Shah, he was a strong noble man.
What else do we need for a leader?
by comments on Fri Aug 05, 2011 07:31 PM PDTPahlavi's family portrays themselves as real human beings making a true connection with their enormous supporters. They have experienced happiness, love, power, failure and grieve. They have also experienced mental and physical (e.g. cancer) health of their love ones. Reza Pahlavi is educated and well aware of opportunistic governments, Persian enemies and groups, and they have been always true Persians.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on Fri Aug 05, 2011 07:19 PM PDTand the entire pahlavi family. This must be a happy news to them all.
BTW, as an ardent anti monarchist, I find the hatefull personal attacks here on a new born baby because of his/her ancestory, despicable. Although not surprised. I have fought islamists since I was 13 and know what kind of cowardly morally bankrupt and hateful creatures they are....

A New Pahlavi!
by Faramarz on Fri Aug 05, 2011 06:27 PM PDTI for one, would like to say that Reza Pahlavi did the honorable thing and stepped up to the challenge and owned up to this by saying quickly and clearly that the newborn is part of their family.
There are many people that walk away from their responsibilities, but he didn’t and that says a lot about his character. The baby needs all the love and the care that a family can provide and it seems like that the baby will get that.
Tiger Lily
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Fri Aug 05, 2011 06:18 PM PDTI agree with you on depression.
It's very unlikely he was depressed, actually his daily gym activities, being engaged, actively creating a family, regularly seeing many people etc make that an impossibility.
The lack of motivation and all the other symptoms of depression are very well know. Depressed people tend to sleep lots, disconect from friends and are not highly active as he was.
I think his family were told to say he was depressed as most people know that you can't just tell if a person is depressed by looking at them. However, if you know their behavior, you know 100%.
