Royal Madrid: Team meet King (bbc, VIDEO)

The Spanish national football team has been celebrating its victory in the Euro 2012 championship, after beating Italy 4-0 in the final on Sunday.

Tens of thousands of people flocked to a square in the capital Madrid to cheer the team, the first to win three major international tournaments in succession.

King Juan Carlos received the team at Madrid's Zarzuela Palace before they began a parade in an open-top bus.

The parade ended in a victory rally in the central Plaza de Cibeles.

Alpa Patel reports.

I agree

The Spanish are even worse than the British when it comes to tabloid magazines.

I also hope that she becomes Queen one day. The Swedes also had the same problem but finally decided to vote an amendment in their constitution. This was done in the late 70's and now the country has got used to the idea that their newly wed Crown Princess will one day be Queen.

I think it is a good test for the Spanish Democracy. Stubborness is not a good thing in any culture. It's a shortcoming that needs to be overcome by any nation if it wishes to mature.

Sooner or later they have to come to terms with this the better.

I think the British are actually the most mature when it comes to being practical. They can concile odds brilliantly. They may not be perfect but they sure know what they want.

We Iranians like the Spaniards are just too stubborn and individualistic and that is what has failed us as a nation time and again on many issues that concern our collective self.

But they should preserve the poor little sweetheart from all these male chauvenistic debates.

This is exactly what happent with Japanese imperial family,do you remember Dariush jan ?

I heard right now Lady Letitzia is a little bit depress for this problem, you know how tough is spanish magazines !! All the time are talking about this and right now She (Leonor) doesn't understand nothing about this but after couple years she will understand that and this is not good for Her .

Maybe a new kid for next year (i heard this too!) and maybe is a boy but i still think Leonor should be Queen !

Yes like us Iranians I'm afraid But There is still ample time

for the Spaniards to reconsider.

Spain has had Queen's in the Past and mentalities will evolve with time.

In anycase the Spaniards will have Felipe on the throne in a few years so ...

Is the  coronation date decided for the Prince of Asturia yet or is Juan Carlos planning to Abdicate in favor of his son or will he remain King until his death like Queen Elizabeth who doesn't plan to abdicate ?

In anycase Today the priority for Spain is it's economy and avoiding a Greek style Catasrophe.
