Greeted by President Nixon The Shah of Iran makes an amazing speech on "Revolutions" vs "Evolutions" in the Middle East which seems to echo through time given what is taking place today in the the Middle East and North Africa. (10/21/1969)
NOTE1: The character William Martin, portrayed by Cliff Robertson in the 1977 television miniseries Washington Behind Closed Doors (based on John Ehrlichman's novel The Company, was loosely based on Helms.

An Ambassador's Wife in Iran, by Cynthia Helms
Mrs. Helms' recollections of the mid-1970s in Iran include society-page material-who was there, what they wore, what they ate-vignettes of Embassy house keeping, and an intelligent tourist's curiosity about a new country. She was aware of the problems beneath the surface glitter of the Shah's Iran and gives some impressions of leading personalities, but on matters of policy and diplomacy, and what her Ambassador-husband was up to, she maintains total discretion.

The SHAH
by afshinazad on Tue Mar 29, 2011 04:14 PM PDTThe man who never got appreciated by own people, if our country stands today because of his accomplishment and unfortunately from last 33 years our enemies been destroying that legacy every single day.
Revolution should be after evolution and if human is not evolved what are the chances could make any progress, this is our history, 33 year ago UN evolved nation made a revolution before knowing what revolution was. and what was the meaning of freedom and democracy, they didn't understand what is that they are doing, and what is that they are going to regret and envy in future. and today children of same people wish they had a same rights and social and economical freedoms that their parents so easily destroyed it and today’s young Iranian willing to give their life for same rights and honour that their parents foolishly give away and they replaced the educated and modern king and patriot man with illiterate angry and evil old man, the man who was enemy of IRAN and the culture and the history and the way of our living, the man who got hundreds of thousands of young Iranian killed for his own evil agenda and his hate for the Iran and kingdom of nation. It is not what other powers could do to us; it is what we could do for ourselves if we not informed enough. We always will have enemies and it is regardless who they are and how powerful they are, what is important who we are and what we know and how much we care about our nation and the country.
