Cock an ear to the u:ber cross-genre form that's been exploding dancefloors all
over the world with such bravado. Warning, it's loud. Strangely I came across this music form
while hunting Iranian dance music, so thanks to Ramtin from the dance group Monosurround (pictured) and artist/film maker/ musician Daryus Shokof.

Contemporary maximalist music, defined by composer David A. Jaffe "embraces heterogeneity and allows for complex systems of juxtapositions and collisions, in which all outside influences are viewed as potential raw material." Examples include might be Edgard Varèse, Charles Ives, and Frank Zappa. This show is podcast HERE

We've a hard task ahead profiling Maximalism in music, because the definition for contemporary Maximalist music is already out of date, yet we sample a track from the original David A. Jaffe, for sure. In the future I'll be podcasting interviews as a follow up with Mr Shokof and Monosurround also.
