Oh, Pendar Jan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Simorgh5555 on Sun Sep 18, 2011 06:58 AM PDT"how is it now? I never went to the movies after the revolution"
Ah, the Achilles heel! So you've never experienced living in Iran after the Great Revolution? Don't bother you haven't missed much. You won't get the same access of quality education, healthcare and freedom which you were accustomed to under the rule of Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi.
You see Pendar jan, people like you and celebrity critics of the Shah such as Shamlou or Dariush Eghbali experienced the best periods of their career when they quite happily penned songs and poems criticising the 'tyranny' of the Shah who became a muse for them. At the same time the Shah tolerated a lot of them. You don' t go to the movies very often so add this to your reading list:
Letters to My Torturer: Love, Revolution, and Imprisonment in Iran
//www.amazon.co.uk/Letters-My-Torturer-Revolution-Imprisonment/dp/1851687505
But getting back to the point of cinema censorship, after the revolution pictures of the Ayatoilet appeared everywhere; women couldn't sing in public and before each film you were subjected to 'bismillah o rahman al rahim' and other garbage in Arabics.
Yes, the Shah did his makesty the Shah first act before each film but public acts of deference to the monarchy as an institution can be found in lot of countries. Up to several years ago the National Anthem 'God Save the Queen' was played at the beginning and end of every broadcast on the BBC. Not a big deal.
But you know Pendar Jan, maybe after you finished your love affair with Israel take a ticket to Turkey and cross the border over to Iran where you can experience what its like to live there first hand. I've been both and after the 'Great Revolution' so why don't you?

by پندارنیک on Sun Sep 18, 2011 06:24 AM PDTAfter lights are off, you won't call me jan anymore, OK? and keep your hands to yourself................
On the subject of going to the movies..............Do you remember that the imperial anthem was played in the theatres and the audience had to rise and watch His Majesty doing his majestic act first?.......how is it now? I never went to the movies after the revolution, I mean the Great Revolution.
Is the audience forced to chant Allaho Akbar, Khamenei rahbar and the rest of it?
And since it's the weekend..........Did you ever take a girl to the closest movie and to this day have no clue who played in it? You know what I mean? Or were you fighting the windmills before they were built?...any fun? any joy? something to attach you to the past?.............
Talk to me, keep looking at this chain in my hand swinging in front of your eyes.........and tell me............
BTW Pendar Jan about 'Going back'
by Simorgh5555 on Sun Sep 18, 2011 04:27 AM PDTHave you ever thought of going back Pendar Jan after your Great Revolution? Maybe Golshiften decided to come here for the very things you take for granted. Whats good for Pendare Nik should be good for Golshiften and any Iranian including the freedom to post pro-IR sentiments on a website forum. We all want to go back to Iran once this evil Terror cancer is destroyed.
They'll go back, my friend.........

by پندارنیک on Sun Sep 18, 2011 04:17 AM PDTThey'll go back, my friend.........they'll go back...........As soon as their propaganda value dries up, instead of staring at their phone or checking their emails for a job offer in a soap commercial, they'll line up at the Iranian embassies for their paperwork...............they will go back to their beloved homeland.....................
:))))))) for the supporting actor award..........Even a Jewish producer would have paid better than thirty silver, though........Pfffffttttttttttt

The Terrorist Regime of the IR takes no credit for the advancement of cinema rather it is down to the ingenuity of film makers themselves who struggle making films which defy the censors by cunning allegories and hidden messages which take a swipe at the system. Given a repressive Islamic state such as Iran, whose founder Ayatoilet Khomeini was opposed to cinema and music , it is no wonder that films which are released from Iran garner attention at international film festivals.
Oh, yes, and the Award for Best Supporting Actor of the IR goes to............Pendare Nik.
Come on up Pendar collect your thirty pieces of silver!
The critic's corner...
by پندارنیک on Sun Sep 18, 2011 02:52 AM PDTI always wanted to write something about Iran's cino-political component; and am using your witty blog to cut to the chase and go straight for the awards:
And the Oscar goes to:
Mohammad Mosaddegh..........for the best melodrama
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.........for the best stunt
Rouhollah Khomeini..................for the best box office
or something like that.............(needs a lot of work, I know)
One thing is beyond argument though: The Iranian cinema had a giant leap forward after it was liberated from the tight grip of the SAVAK............Not an iota of doubt there..............
