I do think it's great that Iranians of all stripes are getting involved in the protests abroad. What has been disappointing is observing Darius Kadivar and others who are rushing to promote Reza Pahlavi, at a time when people who are putting their asses on the line deserve support and attention much more. Why are you promoting his videos at a time when the relevant videos are coming out of Iran, NOT THE National Self-Promoting Club in Washington, DC?

I won't say I'm surprised by Reza Pahlavi's rush to stand in front of the White House and offer photos of him with his fists pumping through the air. He's always been waiting for the day. That's what he deserves credit for: WAITING. Taking no risks. Making no effort besides the seasonal Fox interviews about Iranian fanatics and their threat to world peace. Khaste nabashid!

Reza Pahlavi, let me be clear, these students and young adults are not risking themselves for a lazy, privileged person like you. You're only known because of who your father was, and your complaints about homesickness. Many of us lost family because of what happened in Iran. Many miss "home". For years though, you only networked with warmongers and others who said this day was impossible.

When I saw the video of you crying in front of the cameras over Neda, I was ashamed for you. How can you do this? Is it ethical? She was just standing on the street, not protesting, never imagining that Reza Pahlavi would one day mention her to get press coverage. How shameful this is turning out for you. Please gather what dignity you still have and put an end to this charade. Please don't attach yourself to these youths in Iran. You are doing more to spoil it than you can understand.

MEHRNAZ SHAHABI

Marge jan, This is my two pennies worth!

by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on

According to the news available to both of us, Iran is accusing Britain of meddling in the domestic dispute over the election and fomenting unrest. Iran is accusing the BBC of misinformation and incitement to violence through exaggeration.  So in a tit for that, diplomats have been expelled on both sides.  PM Brown said that Iran was making unfounded allegations against its diplomats, presumably relating to meddling etc.  I did a search and have not seen any other reference to Mojtaba Khamenei in relation to the $1.6 billion frozen assets by Britain, apart from in Payvand.

However, if any reference has been made in Pearson's report to Mojtaba Khamenei, then that would undoubtedly lead to serious diplomatic rift and could be the reason for expulsion of diplomats, as I guess you are suggesting.  But, As I said before, the article in Payvand and and its Reuters source, as they stand, do not make any indication on the basis of what evidence Khamenei was linked to the frozen assets.   In the absence of ANY information, we obviously can't make a judgement.

Of course, we have got to wait and see what emerges.  This is too serious to remain hidden for sure.

Hi Mehrnaz Jan. Got a question

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

I think what you said about Mojtaba's millions is correct. This was an unsourced report. Then suddenly, 2 British diplomats were expelled from Iran. This sounds like smoke and mirrors. Please let me know what you think now.

Darius, you are a broken record

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

I am an Iranian woman and I reject Reza Pahlavi and what he represents.

Captain Jan, I am not going to e-mail Reza Pahlavi because no one will stand in his way of famemongering. Do you see how Darius is attacking those who are anti-Pahlavi, or unsure but CRITICAL of Pahlavi?? You're either with him, or IRI/Hamas/Rajavi/Hezballah/Satanic/UnIranian. I am sad that this is being done under the flag of "Iranian democracy" or a movement that claims to support such a promise.

Dear Souri, I understand what you're saying too. I am not targetting Darius, although he seems to be the chief speaker for Pahlavi here on iranian.com, therefore he will be most sensitive to my criticism of Reza. I think what I what you to know is that I don't think it's a time for Reza Pahlavi. It's a time for everyone BUT him and Maryam Rajavi. Fresh, new, free. People of Iran who have NOT previously had access to Fox/CNN/NBC/ABC/CBS/BBC. They should dominate the headlines, not RP. This is my view, but I understand there are Iranians abroad whose hearts beat fast for him. But it's not his time. Not my time. Let those who haven't had a voice have what little they can through youtube/twitter.

Of YOU yekee, I'd abolutely demand support!  ;-)

He was talking to Americans when he said "demand", I think ( Let them complain about it!)

Still poor choice of words. I give you that.

*         *         *

I ran into a friend of mine at the demonstration in front of the White House. There he was, with a dozen other MKO supporters, and the MKO flag."You guys are here too, huh?", I asked him. "We have been here, every day, for the last two months", he answered.

We all do what we think is right, regardless of how it comes across. Given the opportunity, I'd get on the podium and speak about the atrocities in Iran, no matter if the world knows me as the son of the Shah, or grandson of the Ayatollah (or Ali P. eh yeh laa ghabaa!).

And I wouldn't be apologizing for it.

Monarchists and MKO have had their chances

by ilad33 (not verified) on

As far as the Monarchists and MKO are concerned they have had their chance with Iranian people and they lost it.

Monarchists controlled the country for decades and toppled a democratically elected prime minster in Dr Mosadeghe.

As for MKO well lets just say in the history of Iran there has never been any group that has aided Iran's enemy. These people took side with Sadam Hussain a man who when executed shouted death to Persains.

So both these groups should stay out of this event it has nothing to do with them. Our brothers and sisters are putting their lives on the line for Iran and its freedom not for Shah or Maryam Rajavi

Darius draws the dumbest straws - always falling back on NIAC???

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

I couldn't care less about NIAC and Hamas. Thank DOG they exist, Darius! Who would you compare the people who are anti-pahlavi to then? Satan?

Ali is comparing himself to Pahlavi. That's funny! Calling him a "regular" Iranian is absolutely ridiculous and his defenders know this. Excuse me, but he is a son of a dictator king who died of cancer and that's the fact. That's absurd to say his actions are equal to yours or mine. If this were true, he wouldn't have rushed to hold his tacky press conference and mention "nuclear holocaust". Shame shame shame. Him, standing among bloody pictures, talking about "the people" and "serving democracy". Bush is gone, idiot.

I am not against people having a say. But this press conference was a shame. It is not as if the media are not covering this! You hear about this every 2-3 minutes on tv/radio/and 24/7 on the INTERNET/GOOGLE.

ANONYMOUS X - how the hell is this blog anti-democratic? The clown prince had a press conference? HE IS ASKING FOR ATTENTION AND CRITICISM? RIGHT? or are we just supposed to nod and say "ok mr. pahlavi. democracy? GREAT! Supersize it please and make it to go!"

Fake

by AnonymousX (not verified) on

I don't mean RP's sheding a tear because I think his tear is genuine. What I mean is that those who are attacking him are fake pro-democracy people who lie to themselves first, beleive their own lie and then pass it on to others.

If you are a true pro-democracy person, then you will respect every body's right to have a word. Whether it is RP or a villager.

Monarchists and anti-monarchist alike, haven't got it yet, even after 30 years of disaster. This is how both self-thankful groups polute the air with their parazites while people die in Iran.

I have a crush: Shame on you. If you truly are a supporter of democracy, then let everyone have their say.

Kadivar: If you are a true supporter of democracy, then let monarchists VOTE for their Pahlavi king from amongst Pahlavi family. Why RP, when there are many from his own blood that are more talented and more manly and willing to take a risk or two for Iran.

Why should it be the monarchists' fault that this guy doesn't have the genes that would make him fearless?

Why should people be stucked with RP who is a good man and a good human being, but not a fighter and not a leader? Why can't people vote who should be king? And I am not even saying from another family/blood. Pahlavi blood is fine. But let us vote.

Do you now see why monarchy, as a system, is wrong? It is wrong because human behavior is a lot based on the genes he/she inherits. This is a fact. Education and upbringing and lifetime experiences has to do with one's behavior too, but genes play a fundemental role as well.

What about if a king inherits the wrong genes that would render him a timid person? Then what if there is a crisis?

Why doesn't RP who has been abandoned by many of his own supporters because of his lack of guts and ablitiy to lead, doesn't step down and let his supporters vote another Pahlavi to become king?

I am interested to know your toughts on this.

I attended several protests in the last few days.

I even gave a few interviews; mostly to the media outlets you have never heard of.

I don't like Mousavi much. Or Karrubi. Or Khatami.

I would love to have a leader to follow. Just don't see one.

If they ask me to take a leadership role, I'll consider it.

Does that make me an opportunist, or just another Iranian, far from the homeland, dreaming of returning some day, to a free Iran?

Dear Marge

by IRANdokht on

Although all these thoughts occurred to me too, I think any Iranian has the right to show his or her feelings for the country and what's happening there now. I have no doubt that he misses Iran and wished things had not changed 30 years ago, so I do believe his tears are real.

To try to fish the muddy water and gain from the blood of the innocent iranian victims is a crime though.

I think he believes he has a chance because just like his father he's also surrounded by a lot of "pache-khar" (which is the new slang for majeez-goo). Those guys who worshiped his father and found no fault in his way of running the country were the downfall of him and now RP's entourage is causing him to look ridiculous. I think he's also undermining the sacrifices that people in Iran are making by showing up so often and giving the impression that he's ready to go back. That's one way of stopping the movement. Unfortunately I doubt that he knows that.

The picture you've picked is just precious! Loved it!

Thank you for the Milbank article

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

What a damned embarrassment. "I can SERVE them freedom". Khodesh chi achieve karde save for his dad's imperial sycophants marching behind him (and whispering about his lack of testicles)? Reza, freedom isn't served to people. That is a Bush doctrine which failed.

Anonymously

i share the sentiment

by Anonymously on

RP and his sycophants (DK are you listening?) have always been opportunists... ready to jump on the war-mongering bandwagon of the neo-cons in years past, and now usurping this very indigenous uprising to their benefit.

Washington Post's Dana Milbank has a nice article on RP's speech:

"I'm not demanding people to support me today because of me. I'm demanding people to support me so that I can best serve them achieve what their goal is, which is achieve freedom."

Milbank concludes:

If anybody can "demand" support in the cause of democracy, it might as well be the crown prince.

Don't Cry For Me, Reza

by ghalam-doon on

I think his tears were genuine, but as you mentioned, it was an  embarrasing moment...and in front of all those people.

I wonder if his father was crying behind the thick walls of his palace. We know he was weak. Perhaps he was crying for his people too.

The monarchists have the biggest flags and the loudest voices. That's all they have. They make a lot of noise but don't do anything. Like the resident monarchist on this site.

I went to this rally over the weekend. There were some monarchists and they were making a lot of noise.

At the end of the rally people started singing:

"... Na Shah Mikhaim Na Doctor"

He has a voice as does Rajavi and others

by mahmoudg on

People, this is what democracy is all about.  We all have our opinion and are entitled to them, even the Mullahs.  They/we/Reza/Mullahs, all should have the opporunity to say what we/they want.  Until the day we can do that, democracy will never come to Iran.  The day I can stand in a meydoon (turnabout) in Iran and say I hate Islam and I think Mohamad was a killer, and NOT be killed is the day democracy HAS arrived.  Reza Pahlavi, Rajavi (and by no means I support that killer) and all else, have the right to talk and be united against this regime.  It is the people of Iran who will ultimately choose their next leader and their next form of government.  After 2500 years of Monarchy, 1400 of Islamic Tyranny, and being observant to the failures and the fall of communis, if they choose anything other than a true constitutional democracy, then I am afraid to say, what they get is what they deserve.  But until then, all are welcome and should talk.  I think our people for the most part ARE educated enough to be able to choose their destiny.
