VOTE. It is made easy for all!

The Iranian election this year turned out to be a hot item both inside Iran, and for Iranians living abroad. On this site, we have heard many arguments from people who claim voting is a waste of time. We heard every reason why they wouldn't vote except laziness and a general apathy, and the simple explanation that nagging behind the computer is easier than riding your car to a polling station.

But elections are very important, and the hot debates are just a reflection of that undeniable fact. Voting is a right that people of Iran have earned with their blood through the revolution, and the hardship of defending it for 30 years against all odds. The desire for independence and democratic aspiration of Iranians was conceived some 100 years ago in Constitutional Revolution; it was then aborted; was reborn stronger; was stifled again by foreign interference and a coup d'etat; and finally it was brought to fruition through much stronger massive participation of Iranians of every class in the Islamic Revolution. Now that the country is better established against foreign interventions, the internal democratic process is reaching a new phase of maturation and openness. This phase is manifesting itself in the presidential debates of the tenth period in which "negative campaigning" started to showcase hidden dirty laundry of high officials for the first time in full view of the Iranian public. All ugliness of negative campaigning aside; some possible unfair accusations aside; still this new open political debate ushers a fantastic evolution of Iranian democracy. Most people correctly feel empowered by the election, and except for a small fringe of older generation of Iranians who are bitterly stuck in their personal past, overwhelming majority of Iranians will actually vote.

Large number of Iranian Americans want to participate in the election this year, in particular after hearing the presidential debates.  This has prompted the embassy to make the voting process easy by establishing many voting sites throughout the US, and accepting  a passport or a birth certificate. Furthermore, since many Iranians have not renewed their passports on time for election and time is short for a renewal, they would be able to vote and renew their passports later! If you are interested in voting in a place near you, please check:

www.election88.org

If you don't have a valid passport, it seems that you can still vote and renew your passport later.

How Pathetic

by Not a Dictatorship Lover (not verified) on

A bunch of dictator loving, oppressor adoring losers with nothing to do but sit behind a keyboard and spread propoganda congratulating themselves on “catching someone” writing something under an assumed name ---something that they themselves do on such regular basis.

But then again, IRI supporters are good at “investigating” and “catching” people who disagree with them and exercise their right to free speech, aren’t they?

You play a beautiful and effective tune which causes 'gohgijeh' in those unfamiliar with music of the mind!

I have noted the deletion of my perfectly clean posts here and elsewhere, and of Khaleh Mooshe's and others exposing 'identities'!  Funny, because the identification has been so effective that joojeh is running around trying to erase mirrors! LOOOL

Someone has in return identified me as Jaleho which I loved and was so honoured.

Hi Nilofar jaan!

by Jaleho on

Well, I agree with you about the HUGE turnout. But, although I think Ahmadinejad lost big time in the debates (the nation WON BIG as you say), I still believe that he'll win the election. I know that you and Irandokht and Mehrnaz are all for Mousavi. I think he's going to get A LOT of votes but short of a win.

Mehrnaz jaan, am I not impressive playing with people's mind to change their voting pattern by writing a short blog? Of course by "people" I mean a "joojeh" (your fascist toys) whom I can play  like a fiddle :-) :-)

Just noted that your perfectly clean post got deleted!!

I have a feeling Moussavi may win outright in the first round. Anyone else willing to hazard a guess?! :)

looks like this time the turnout will be one of the highest ever. It is rather surprising that some people cannot see how the conduct of this election round has pushed the democratization process forward.

Thanks for your comments. Monda jan, it is so strange but GOOD that the embassy refers to IC as a site to distribute some info for Iranians. very interesting!

-Mehrnaz jan, we missed you, my true candidate :-) Hopefully after the election we won't have much more to fight about. This much I should grant you and Irandokht in advance though:

Ahmadinejad shoot himself on the foot so bad during the debates that I believe he lost a good portion of his followers who watched the debate! Instead of gracefully defending the great things that he has actually done, he gave into Mousavi's sly way of putting down all his good achievements by being a jerk on other valid criticism of him! His manner in speaking to all three candidates made him look like a dictator who is not open to any criticism, whereas he could have brought up the "factionalism" that is formed against him to the lost interest of the said groups, and just defend his achievements gracefully.

Regardless, I LOOOOVED the debates. If Ahmadinejad wins, he HAS TO address all those criticism in his next term. If Mousavi wins, the crack on semi-mafia type factions that has been formed following the revolution for many years will continue to grow because of the rupture that was created by the open debates! This is very healthy and needed, in particular it can prevent concentration of military power in the hand of one political group which historically has led to dangerous military coups, or too much political concentration of power in the hand of military at the expense of civilian population.

-anonymousvoter, thanks. Ma mokhlesim.

Do you have to be so irrelevant all the time?! Who was talking about tolerance and intolerance? Did you perhaps mean to write in another blog and you ended up here?!!

"VOTE. It is made easy for all!"

by puke (not verified) on

Thanks to Islamic Republic , a group of Guradians of Iranians already decided for us and disqualified 99% of the ones who signed up for elections including some of the parliament members.

That was also an attempt by the "tolerant" republic to make voting "easy for all" considering that people are goosaleh and can not decide for themselves if they have more than the pre-selected 4 choices!

In fact they have made it so easy that it doesn't even matter who to vote for. The one who truly makes the decision is not among them.

A "fantastic evolution of Iranian democracy".

Keep Tolerating

Why Vote?

by Anonymousv (not verified) on

All should rush to vote, hoping to oust Adolph Hitler (aka, Ahmadinejad) and replace him with Mussolini (aka Mousavi) or Stalin (aka Karrubi) or Pol Pot (aka Rezaie).

A vot in dictatorship arena

by Iranivaliazad (not verified) on

is not a vote for a hand picked candidate, but a vote of confidence to the dictatorship system.

Current 4 handpicked candidates have had some sort of leadership in IRI from beginning of its miserable existence and each one has help to bring down the country to its current level. Each one is thief and corrupt ... Rezaie son bringing untold amount of money out claiming he was kidnapped by NASA.
Ahmadinejad and circle of family and friends have stolen 300 billion in recent years.
Mosavi and family did the same and he was in charge when thousands of YOUNG IRANIANS were COLDLY killed by his government.
Karubi is just as corrupt, like Rafsenjani and Jannati and rest of blood sucking leaches.

Anyhow, it is your right to cast your confidence vote to IRI, but please stop nagging why Iran has turned into the hell hole that it has become ... it's your vote of confidence that allows moslem clerics DO AS THEY PLEASE.

"fantastic evolution of Iranian democracy" ?

IRANdokht

by OnNo (not verified) on

Just like him I have the right to express my views and I asked for the sake of getting more moderate votes from people who are already reluctant to vote, because they don't want their vote to count for IR (see the so articles and vote results on this site), not to mix announcing ballot box locations with pro regime comments in BOLD! You disagree with reality so be it. She expressed her views, so did I and I read couple of her prior blogs before writing this and I can see where she comes from.

We Iranians have tolerated them for 3 dacades, the regime that she supports is the one that does not tolerate others. You are lecturing the wrong side dear!

In this NO vote, the lines of who is voting for what should remain VERY clear or we end up with them taking advantage of it again like the revolution.

This time you can not hush us with nice sounding words like you did last time.

Good info Jaleho

by Monda on

I've been wondering about the voting venues in the US.

Just a little share here: A relative called our Interest Section in DC to find out about the voting posts in his area. He was told to look on the major websites, such as iranian.com, for that info! Well here it is!

Jaleho, you are not alone

by AnonymousVoter (not verified) on

Thanks for the info on the ease of voting. I just wanted to let you know that you won't be alone in voting for Ahmadinejad from US. After watching the debates, I have come to the conclusion that he is the only one who won't be in anyone's pocket and will be voting for him.

I have come to quietly respect and appreciate your writings here. So, thanks for that as well.

Dear Irandokht,

by Jaleho on

Thanks for the nice comment.

As you know and I know, most people in the US, in particular on Iranian.com are passionately ANTI-Ahmadinejad. Thus, you should know that by providing the information on the ease of voting, in a sense I am promoting more anti-Ahmadinejad votes. You also know that I have made it clear here that I will vote for Ahmadinejad myself. Thus, my providing the information was just intended to encourage people to participate, as I truly believe in the power of people, and respect their collective wisdom.

To me a democratic process in which so many people exercise their will is far more important than who will win.

Thanks for your understanding. We'll fight later :-)

Merci for the info!

I like you and I respect you and even though we do not agree on Iran's politics I have utmost respect for your intelligence and courage to stand for what you believe in.

dear onNo

we cannot be advocates of freedom of speech if the first thing we want to achieve is to silence the people we do not agree with.

I do agree that people who want change are the ones who do not approve of the government of Ahmadinejad or even the whole IRI system, but do you think if this government is replaced by another intolerant form with a new bunch of intolerant folks, Iran would ever move forward towards democracy and freedom?

I didn't say don't write or announce the election spots. I said avoid your typical pro- IR propoganda and fishing for your regime.

Look at the way the moderate voters dress. Their vote is against your regime and not for it and you know it! Let's also not forget your Vali Faghih publically had announced his support for Ahmadinejad.

Do us a favor

by OnNo (not verified) on

I am for voting against Ahmadinejad.

But if you want readers of this site to vote, I suggest your pro-IR kind stay out of it!

If people are voting, that is because they want change even if it may be little and that they are tired of what they see and not because of your rediculus comments such as: "Fantastic evolution of Iranian democracy" and your promotion of your "Islamic Revolution".

Try not to fish in muddy waters because it will only backlash and turn off those who may be considering to vote here! at least until after election and then start your typical propoganda!

Do not take advantage of situation to propoganda for your criminal regime and stay out for the sake of Iranian people then more readers of this site may actually vote!
