End of last summer I had many long phone conversations with my cousin's children who visit family in Canada and also use the opportunity to improve their English language skills. This was Not the first time I realized how incompetent I am in communication. Especially when it comes to Persian colloquial. Generally and developmentally-speaking, younger people are just so good at letting you know how off you are! Don't you love that?! I just got this forwarded to me by one of those sweet kids with the title "Dear Moni, sorry but these are some of the things you don't know in Farsi!!!!" Then I open this long list of items off of HABIBMETALLICA (Who is he? But Thanks a bunch just the same HABIBMETALLICA JAN)... SOME of the expressions I don't know?! How many more are there?! What's up with all the exclamation marks Leili joon? (Notice per your request I have used caps for the source, I hope your filtershekan is functional these days so you can read your contribution to iranian.com) Love you, Moni

You are absolutely right in your assessment of younger Iranian generation. I too find them much more savvy and skilled at self-survival than my generation at least (even than yours maybe)

I know we're not doing birthdays on Iranian.com anymore, but I just couldn't pass this chance to wish you a wonderful day my friend. I hope your day is filled with joy, gifts, and love, and that the new year of your life is going to be one of pure love, peace, prosperity, and success. Happy Happy Birthday!

by Monda on Fri Nov 20, 2009 07:51 AM PSTbut still doesn't show!
Oh I had heard Mokh Mikhoreh rather than mizaneh
Did u try...
by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 19, 2009 09:49 PM PSTdisabling rich text? Or send admin an email!
Mokh zadan is when someone talks your head off!
I don't why the list doesn't show! Helloooo any body there??
by Monda on Thu Nov 19, 2009 08:39 PM PSTIt shows each time I go back to editing! Maybe HABIBMETALICA has locked it to himself?!
My apologies!
Holly you're right. There's much I don't know about the young Iranians' culture but I am very eager to learn.
Wait Mokh Mizaneh was not on that list - what does it mean??!
I can't wait...
by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 19, 2009 05:22 PM PSTTo see the list!
And we're not incompetent in communicating, they are a whole different generation with their own slang which is stuff that was non-existant in the language back in the day! Sometimes I hear stuff like that but usually I can figure out the meaning. Like 'mokh mizaneh' lol
Generally speaking though, the Iranian youth are a hell of a lot more articulate than their Iranian-American couterparts.
Folks here's that list, for some reason it didn't show above
