But it definitely is a change, since under the Former so called health care plan, there were millions who were left uninsured and insurance companies could have done all they wanted to. they could have denied coverage all they wanted to.

Immigration is another one. Albeit for the future. It is a well - known fact that that illegals if they are put on a path to citizenship and granted Temp. work permits, can undoubtedly contribute to a solution to our financial problems, including deficit, social security, at least partially.

During the Shah's time there was a theory that superpowers keep Arab nations well fed and supplied with no shortages, to keep them quiet.

But Iranians on the other hand had to be kept under pressure, living with shortages and hand to mouth to keep them on a leash.

I have always disagreed and will always disagree with any armed strike against Iran. Surgical attacks are a myth, only good for keeping Western civilian population happy and less guilty in front of their TVs.

For now and on the face of it sanctions seem to be doing something but how effective they really are is yet to be seen. In the mean time my relatives and all Iranians suffer.

Either severe sanctions, which must, and i say it again MUST hurt ordinary Iranians, to have any effect, must be supported, or strategic surgical attaks must be levied on this regime.  We can't just say do nothing and let this regime linger on.  Either you are with the sactions or you are with surgical attacks.  One or the other.  Neither is not an option.  Sanctions were designed to put so much pressure on the population to cause them to revolt.  the alternative is surgical attack, in the process of which we could also eliminate terrorist leeches who would otherwise targe innocent civilian life elsewhere in the world.

Yes, ordinary Iranians will feel the sanctions. People in South Africa were affected by sanctions too. But progressive forces were for sanctions against racist regime in South Africa. IRI is not any better than South African regime and has to go. About the best thing that can be said for him is that he has not launched an actual war upon Iran. That, in itself, is something. But we expected a lot more in voting for him. We expected a sincere effort toward engagement. So far, that hasn't happened.
