These are but a few examples of how frustrated ordinary Iranians are with both the regime in Tehran and the international community. They cant do anything about the tyrants who rule them but we in the western world are supposed to be listening to the voices. Obama are you listening?

Health care costs were projected to rise up anyways regardless of this law being passed or not. Every paper from The wall street To USatoday, from the most conservative to the most Liberal have been saying so.
Whoa.. whoa.. Easy. "the immigrant community" is such a loaded word. And No one is siding with The law Breakers. Had i crawled Through the fence, I would hate myself and had felt the shame sooner or later too, but then againI turn around and see that it is those like me who help buisnesses cut costs on a very wide scale, which translates into more affordability across the board for you, And i see how These buisnesses open their arm and receive those like me so warmly, that is when I am thinking, H,mmm. This maynot be such a bad idea After all.
Is it really Foolish? Ha. Interesting. Taking SS taxes out of their paychecks is a foolish thing then Right? I guess the Term Illegal automatically sparks up the image of Cash and under the table money for you.
Sorry I can't really show you and name thee companies. If you think that i am a liar and a jerk then suit yourself.

by Bavafa on Mon Oct 25, 2010 12:29 PM PDTAfshinazad also said it well in his comment, we need to grow a back bone and start taking responsibility for ourselves. We have learned for too long to depend on others to do the job for us and that has to stop if we ever want to be the master of our destiny. No one says it is easy or free of danger, but those successful nations have done it exactly so and that is the only way forward if we want to get out of this shit hole place we are in. Neither West or East will ever do any thing for Iranians that will not suit their interest first and for most.

Health care costs have increased dramatically since this scam has been passed, and some coverages have been dropped entirely. As of October 1st, premiums have shot up.
We, as an immigrant community, should not be siding with those who circumvented the system to get here. If you crawled through a fence to come to the U.S. I have zero respect for you. And to think the same peole who said "f**k you " to the system in order to get here are going to be part of "the solution" is just plain foolish.
Show us the U.S. companies that are sitting on piles of cash, please. Because right now the ones sitting on the most cash are the Chinese to whom Obama and his cronies are beholden. Hell, even Bill Clinton was more of a centrist than this pompous jerk.

by afshinazad on Thu Oct 21, 2010 03:26 PM PDTWeather we like it or not this is reality that never been any one either from western or eastern powers to be with us, all is about them and their national interest. we Iranian are waiting some one to cooke the meal for us and that is not going to happen, we are responsible for our own action and only we can undo the tragedy and the nightmare that we have created it. freedom is not easy to get or to order it on line, freedoms is evolvement and accepting of modernity and tollerance.what we had today in our country is demand and need for freedom with no real action and I don't belive we could get the freedom with asking politely or by magic, freedom must be earnd just the way you earn your income and with no violence or pain there is no freedom, because Iran is not INDIA or south africa or any other examples you want to give me because we are dealing with cleric and religion fascist regime which does not understand peace or tolerance , in religion only one thing exists either my way or the highway. we have say when cleric is riding the donkey there is no way he will get off the donkey either donkey sould die or the cleric. we could talk about all the about what the regime is doing and not fighting for what you want it is not a progress, it is complaining and people like SARGORD PISSend will call us popet of jews and american and yet he forgets that who are his masters and who put them in power, often some people like him are paid writers with no brain and some are lost soles who are living with f**** 7th century BS.
WE ARE SMART AND EDUCATED PEOPLE AND I WONDER WHY WE ARE SO MUCH HUNGRY FOR POWER AND CLOSE OUR EYES AND CONTINUE WITH LIVING FROM LAST 31 YEARS WITH SAME BS AND NEVER PLAN FOR TOMORROW AND ALWAYS FORGET WHO WE ARE AND WHAT ABOUT TOMORROW.

by mash Ghanbar on Thu Oct 21, 2010 02:34 PM PDTahhh. You are so sweet... man you are making me Blush all the way, look at youu...
You are citing one bold lies after lies, knowing full well that one person can not make changes by himself. especially in a system where Congress must put an stamp of approval on everything. SO despite the fact that i know and remember the content of his speech while he was still candidate-obama, i think that such assertions are being deliberately taken on their face value, just to bring him down.
I can show you an example of what he has done and also what he has in store for the futue, but let's not fool ourselves, because what might look positive to me might be far from it for you. So you are not gonna hold me to it and put me on spot here.
He said he is going to make fundamental changes to the health care and he delivered. It was a long and hard-fough battle but it got passed. Was it positive? Too soon to tell and it ALL depends on whom you ask,. But it definitely is a change, since under the Former so called health care plan, there were millions who were left uninsured and insurance companies could have done all they wanted to. they could have denied coverage all they wanted to.
Immigration is another one. Albeit for the future. It is a well - known fact that that illegals if they are put on a path to citizenship and granted Temp. work permits, can undoubtedly contribute to a solution to our financial problems, including deficit, social security, at least partially.
I am not making any particular assumptions on your political affiliation. But when you criticize The dems. and Obama as harshly as you do Then what the hell else am i supposed to think that you are supporting? The communist party in Slovakia? how many other choices have we got besides the dems, other than the Republicans , the greens, and the Tear partiers?
True, They can in theory can do what they please, But what they care is implementing the spirit of bipartisanship and that is why the battle over health care was dragged as long as it was. That is anothet thing that obama had promised and by golly, To govern from the center and by golly he is doing his hardest to please all who stand in his way and actually govern from the center,
Consumer confidence is a measure that fluctates periodically and you can not pin this on him. it maybe at its lowest level, the same as it was prior to GW's departure which even he had to come out and make a public appeal for people to go out and spend to those lousy stimulus checks.
Unemployment is high simply because companies are sitting on top of a pile of cash without having any urge to spend it on hiring or servicing their current employees.
My life would have been much better if Right-wingesr were not being such pricks and stand in the way of some of his specific proposals.
I hope you get your wish of whomever it is you want to see at the top. Really man. even if you think Eminem... or Rapper JZ or even J LO can do the Job. More power to ya.
They cant do anything about
by Dr. X on Thu Oct 21, 2010 02:25 PM PDTThey cant do anything about the Tyrants that rule them? I beg to differ...what did they do in 1979? I know circumstances are different and it will not be easy as this regime is far more brutal than the dictatorship of 1979, but history as shown in Iran once a regime has lost its legitimacy with its own people it is only a matter of time before their downfall.

by My Name Is Borat on Thu Oct 21, 2010 01:33 PM PDTClearly you do need to review what Obama has said, because he made many bold statements regarding how he was going to change this country for the better and how everything was going to be a breath of fresh air.
Well, show me one example of just such a positive change, please.
Don't assume that I am either a Republican or a Tea Party follower.
The GOP's minority status plays a tremendous part in this by virtue of simple grade school arithmetic. They are outnumbered by the Democrats who control Capitol Hill and Pennsylvania Avenue. That means that for the most part they have the ability to do as they please.
Do I expect miracles? No. But it's no exaggeration to say that while things were lousy before, they have become dramatically worse since he has arrived. Unemployment is at more than 10%. And that's just for openers. Consumer confidence is virtually non-existent.
But if the impact on your life has been positive as a result of this guy, then God bless you and may you be eternally happy, because I'm happy for you.
You are not getting this are you?
by mash Ghanbar on Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:23 AM PDTYou are doing a good job of Pontificating yourself. No need for me to go back and review what obama has said.
What does GOP's minority status have to do with this whole thing? Is this a dictatorhip system or what? Are you saying the The dems need to shove things through simply becasue they are at the top, and since that has not been the case, so he has done nothing to improve anyone's life? Whoes life has not improved? Yours? Have you run an official survey to make such assertions with such confidence???
Yes, Obama has done some things, even though they may not sit well with some. I never said that i believed in santa clause or miracles. If you insist on exaggerating and make things worse than they are, That is your proragative too.
I hope you will get your newly elected tea party, die-hard republican, with absolute majority in house and senate both and we will see Then what you will be complaining about, Hope Lives will have been improved within precisley 6 months after they take over.

The manner
by Raoul1955 on Thu Oct 21, 2010 07:10 AM PDTIn which the article is presented gives the notion that Iranians are totally dependent on the outside world in general, and on the US in particular for any change in their society.
For a nation to grow culturally and intellectually, the change must come from within and not from without. Of course the change will result in people being killed, imprisoned, tortured, fill in the blank...
Freedom and growth require bloodshed and thoughtful planning, impulsiveness and irrational actions do not bring about a progressive change. Didn’t Iranians overthrow a secular regime over three decades ago based on their irrational thinking and impulsiveness?
The more a person or a nation depends on the external elements for change, the more that person or the nation becomes frustrated and despondent.
It took Europe centuries to evolve culturally and intellectually, shouldn’t one expect at least couple of centuries [from now] for the Iranian people to free themselves from Shia islam?

Keep Arab people happy and Iranians under pressure & hungry
by kazem0574 on Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:28 AM PDTDuring the Shah's time there was a theory that superpowers keep Arab nations well fed and supplied with no shortages, to keep them quiet.
But Iranians on the other hand had to be kept under pressure, living with shortages and hand to mouth to keep them on a leash.
I have always disagreed and will always disagree with any armed strike against Iran. Surgical attacks are a myth, only good for keeping Western civilian population happy and less guilty in front of their TVs.
For now and on the face of it sanctions seem to be doing something but how effective they really are is yet to be seen. In the mean time my relatives and all Iranians suffer.
can't have your cake and eat it too, my dear Iranians.
by mahmoudg on Wed Oct 20, 2010 10:17 AM PDTEither severe sanctions, which must, and i say it again MUST hurt ordinary Iranians, to have any effect, must be supported, or strategic surgical attaks must be levied on this regime. We can't just say do nothing and let this regime linger on. Either you are with the sactions or you are with surgical attacks. One or the other. Neither is not an option. Sanctions were designed to put so much pressure on the population to cause them to revolt. the alternative is surgical attack, in the process of which we could also eliminate terrorist leeches who would otherwise targe innocent civilian life elsewhere in the world.
Iranians getting frustrated is good, IRI has to go
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Oct 20, 2010 10:14 AM PDTYes, ordinary Iranians will feel the sanctions. People in South Africa were affected by sanctions too. But progressive forces were for sanctions against racist regime in South Africa. IRI is not any better than South African regime and has to go. By now, most IC readers are aware that pro IRI writers always write as if they feel sorry for people of Iran but it is the IRI interests that they are worried about.

We Iranians need to ensure that the whole world fully understand that we are not a bunch of anti american, jew hating terrorists. We are peaceful and respect all nations and religions. Now, once that happens, (and it is actually happening thanks to the Martyrs of uprising against the islamist regime last year), you'll find that Obama would change his policy towards Iran to suit US public opinion. The recent sanctions against some leaders in Iran is a very good sign. But I do agree with you that this is all coming too slow. The bottom line is that this fascist Islamic regime will be consigned to the dustbin of history by the heroic nation of Iran, just a matter of time......
