Here it is in English, my adaptation of one of my favorite songs.  I discovered it again when the original Farsi song was posted here on iraniandotcom by bahram9821 on January 09, 2011.

The Loneliest Man of the Night

I’m nights' loneliest man
My lips, with silence sealed
I’m gone, alone and grieved
My heart has left you all
Lonelier than the loneliest,
sad and blatant
All alone,
without hope for another day
I’m nights' loneliest man
My lips, with silence sealed

I’m nights' loneliest man
On my lips,
hundred stories sealed
Gone from your heart

My knapsack sealed
Not thinking of tomorrow
Only me,
all alone
I‘m just a passerby in these lonely nights
Without thinking of tomorrow
Only me,
all alone
I’m just a passerby in these lonely nights

I’m nights' loneliest man
My lips, with silence sealed
I’m nights' loneliest man
On my lips,
hundred stories sealed

Hi! MPD,

It is a sad song with very pretty melody.....actually I like the yelling/venting part, too......it conveys a lot of emotion!

The interesting thing is that the lyrics talks about night, but the music video was recorded day time.......this video seems to be from a VHS tape........it needs to be digitally re-mastered to enhance the sound quality a little.....

On my lips,
hundred stories sealed

I hope some of the stories are good memories!

P.S.   I have a question.....on the story thread, you wrote the ending and mentioned "council of bearded men".......Did the "bearded men" refer to mullahs or rabbis? I read the counselors/councillors controversy and realized that "counselors" are used in Mossad's motto........after that, I started to doubt my reading ability......I am not sure if I understand everything correctly?.... I feel ignorant...

thanks,

Good translation with a suggestion for 1st verse.

by Esfand Aashena on

Your first verse translation says "loneliest" and "nights" whereas the song itself starts by saying:

I’m the night's lonely man

BTW I especially love the part (about a minute into the song) when he starts yelling and going all wild and crazy, really YELLING!

Everything is sacred
