(A poem written by my nineteen year old son Julio.)
Water, so calming, so relieving
Shows nourishment and cradles you
But do not trust HER
She loves you
At the same time can harm you
So cautious is she
To take care of you
At the same time can take you away
Causing her to think twice
Driving HER mad
With love comes responsibility
Which causes you to withhold certain things
Never wanting to love as much
So that at a minutes hand
You won’t take them away for good
That you love them so much
You do not ever want them hurt
So keep them safe
Some go as far as to take them away for good
So that they will never see pain again
We frown on it!
I frown on it!
But it’s their way
So too is the water
Watch out with the water
She can keep you calm
Love you, even cradle you
But at the same time
If you do not watch yourself
She can drown you
In her ever lasting love for you
Poem posted with permission from Julio.
(Julio and I would like to thank you for reading his poem and any constructive comments on it. We wish you all the best.)

Excellent solution
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Sep 08, 2009 04:21 PM PDTI will decorate the table with ethnic stuff. By George I've think we've solved it Watson.
This is becoming difficult because some points are importante!
by Anonymouse on Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:40 AM PDTOkay this is becoming so difficult because some points of the photo essay are importante! So how about a huge mariachi hat and huge belt buckle to decorate the dinner table for a Mexican feast?! Deal?
Everything is sacred.
ooooooooh! mea culpa
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:34 AM PDTLook I can get them to cook a Mexican feast and take photos of it but that is as far as they will go.
Mr. Everything is sacred. lol
I said Thanksgiving
by Anonymouse on Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:23 AM PDTI said Thanksgiving you said Christmas. Thanksgiving is a better time for a feast. Maybe you can use the props as the Mexican version of Pilgrims and Indians!
Those wearing huge mariachi hats would be Pilgrims and the ones with huge belt buckles would be Indians!
Everything is sacred.
Are you sure you
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:09 AM PDThaven't been sampling the Tequila? The younger generation would rather kill over than dress ethnic even for one second. You trying to get me skinned alive. lol
Christmas is like several months away. Right now I am trying to plan my survival mode during Thanksgiving with my family.

Mix Elivs Crespo with Kamran & Hooman for a revised max effect!
by Anonymouse on Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:59 AM PDTIn some of our gatherings, especially the ones including younger generation they don't listen to Iranian music either but I play it and I dance to it and after a few cheezy songs soon they all dance!
So your situation is no different and if you don't have those things lying around in attic or closets, maybe you can buy them and give them as Christmas gifts! Now which man wouldn't want a huge belt buckle or a huge mariaci hat?! Seriously!
Everything is sacred.
hahahahaha
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:51 AM PDTYou are hilarious! hahahaha You actually think we have this kind of clothes in our homes. You are priceless. Really you are.
Hello! We are going to be snow bunnies. Not red, white and green mariachis. Remember going to NM to skii, snowboard, etc. Besides they are not into Elvis Crespo. I am not sure if they even listen to Latin music anymore.
Use ElvisCrespo's Suavemente andFewTequilaShotsForMaxEffect!!
by Anonymouse on Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:44 AM PDTWell again the ethnic clothes is in the eye of the beholder. A belt with a big belt buckle and a mariachi hat and a tiara would do fine.
You can get these few items, I'm sure you can find some laying around and take them with you. Then at the most opportune moment after few tequila shots with Elvis Crespo's suavemente in the background and right before destroying the dinner table, you can unveil the props, ask them to put them on for some photo ops and take few photos!
Everything is sacred.
I know you didn't mean to say
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:20 AM PDTwe dress ethnic. Face it none of my family is going to dress ethnic for this photo essay, no matter how much they love me. They are going to think we both are crazy.
Hmmmmmmm Now I wonder how many Margaritas it would take to get them to do it. Hahahahah The plot thickens. lol
hahahaha
I didn't say you guys
by Anonymouse on Tue Sep 08, 2009 05:18 AM PDTI didn't say you guys dress ethnic, I said you can dress ethnic and food pictures is fine, so will be the pictures of ethnic clothes without showing their faces. Just the belt buckle picture or the cowboy hat (better yet the huge mariachi hats :-) from behind or something along those lines.
Everything is sacred.
Very funny but not even close
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Mon Sep 07, 2009 10:46 AM PDTWe don't dress ethnic. Besides only the food would be in the photos. I am leaving my folks out of the photos. Hey! My sisters and I can have Margaritas in NM. Don't be a kill joy!
Good luck but snow in
by Anonymouse on Thu Aug 27, 2009 05:13 AM PDTGood luck but snow in NM with tequilas and belt buckles and cowboy shirts don't seem too ethnic! Don't get me wrong I'm not saying everyone should wear a belt buckle, but at least one or 2 people in there should represent the old traditions, even if it is for a photo.
So if possible summer time will be better :-) and you don't have to have everyone present, we don't know who is who! So good luck and make the photo album whenever you get a chance, but don't forget it.
Everything is sacred.
Christmas time
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Wed Aug 26, 2009 08:23 PM PDTWill be the next major family gathering actually. We are all going to go hit the snow in New Mexico. So, maybe I can talk the women into making a major and delicious spread of Mexican food. Wish me luck!
So are you going to
by Anonymouse on Wed Aug 26, 2009 08:38 AM PDTSo are you going to make a photo album? maybe for next time you guys get together, like labor day or thanksgiving? Tequila shots is a must! so are specialty foods, the more ethnic the better!
Everything is sacred.

Salam Mouse...
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Tue Aug 25, 2009 09:22 PM PDTNo, I never posted those photos. What a shame! lol Now, the only Tequila is the one in my Margaritas minus the worms. lol
No, Julio is not a good swimmer. His brother however is an excellent swimmer and has been known to go scuba diving.
However, Julio's poem is about a woman and a man's broken heart.
I am sure that many men would agree that women can be even more perilous than a riptide.
Best,
Merci dear Natalie!

He is a bright kid!
Few years ago at the
by Anonymouse on Tue Jul 21, 2009 04:42 AM PDTFew years ago at the beach I got sucked into a weak riptide and the lifeguard jumped into the water and rescued me. Although I didn't know I was in a riptide until he showed up and even then I was doing the right thing and swimming parallel to the beach. It wasn't a big deal but I got to feel how it is to get sucked into a riptide and experience it. It can be dangerous.
I take it Julio is not a good swimmer?! I don't know just asking :-) I don't think Texas is known for its good swimmers?!
BTW did you ever post a photo album of you and family at i.com having a Mexican feast with Tequila rituals and all? (including worms for not the faint at heart ;-) If not, now being summer is a good time for it.
Everything is sacred.
