The blessed child, murmuring, with passion, about his faith
Great curiosity, at the feet of the Master, wondering, where the Truth, indeed lies
In the Labyrinth of knowledge, going to and fro, and indeed, in circles
Yes my darling, all illusion, be not deluded, embrace all understanding, and nothing else
Look across your shoulder, The God Of Creation, is that him
No my darling, all an illusion, the sweetness of paradise, all within you
From here to infinity, all spirits, no angels, yes my sweet, all dancing
Pay no attention, no my darling, to the musings of the Prophet, All, a total hallucination
In all Heaven and Earth, the scent of a flower, more precious, than all creation
Embrace the Truth, yes my darling, not mumbo-jumbo, neither, hocus-pocus
In the realm of knowledge, faith, is but a non-sensical aberration
Casually embrace reality, with an open heart, yes my love, lest you fall, in to the trap of delusion
Every step, in the wonder, of the lover, embracing, the loved
Yes my sweet, our love, No God, much blessing, in the palms of fate, in total Ecstasy
Let God be God, yes my sweet, and let us be humans
Share with me my bliss, yes my darling, our bliss, is indeed, our God, and, nothing else
If Mowlana told you to embrace him, yes my sweet, make great passionate love
My God, Your Divinity, yes my darling, our Mowlana, no angels, none needed
If your Prophet is Mohammad, embrace Jesus, and then cast both of them out
If your Prophet is Bahaullah, love Moses, then worship, Mowlana
My Brother, this is not blasphemy, but the release, of your true reality
Let go of all traditions, embrace the spirit, the Love Of God, yes my darling, you and me, and nothing else
My Sweetheart, hold my hand, as I walk this path, with you
No fears, no my darling, neither anxiety, now hold my hand, as I walk this path, with you
We need no Prophets, neither angels, no my darling, but the spirit of God, in our bosom
That’s all, yes my sweet, have no worries, much blessing, and yes, total Ecstasy, now come, hold my hand, as I walk this path, with you
Our God is on our side, the angels ahead of us, no demons, no my darling, none to bother us
Now come my sweet, the time has arrived, for us to depart, now hold my hands, with passion, as I walk this path, with you

by yolanda on Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:38 PM PSTDear PT,
Sorry to hear that sufis got looked down upon! I did not know that. I am against organized religions.....I think God looks at our hearts, not the superficial stuff. I read Rumi's Sufism last night. It talks about heart and spirit a lot.........sometimes or a lot of the time, the middlemen or "go-betweens" or intercessors are worse than the regular people. I have heard enough of pastors falling from grace, like Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swagger.......these people are supposed to be godly men, but they live decadent lives, messing around behind their wife's back......I think we just need to have personal relationship with God and concentrate our relationship with God. Last night I read that Rumi's 20th great grandson is in charge of Mawlawi order in Turkey......it is kind of interesting! I also found out that the movie Bab' Aziz (2005) talked about Sufi tradition and had Rumi's quotes. There are trailers on you-tube, I will watch them when I have time.
Take care! Thank you!!!

by Passing Through on Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:54 AM PSTJust remember this:
If there is indeed a God, accessing him, and dealing with him, should not be that difficult
If you come across any religion that makes dealing with God complex, and that you would have to go through a series of Priests, etc. to do that, then that religion is deliberately trying to have control over your life
Nothing More, And Indeed, Nothing Less .....!
Take Good Care Of Yourself Sweetheart :)

P.S. Remember, Dealing With God Is Not Meant To Be That Difficult - Only Human Beings' Ambitions Make It That Way!

Dear yolanda
by Passing Through on Tue Dec 15, 2009 04:30 PM PSTAs a general rule, all religions look down on their Mystic traditions
For example, in Christianity, particularly in the Catholic Church, the Gnostics, who are the Mystics of Christianity, are typically looked down upon
Similarly, in Islam, the Sufis who are the Mystics of Islam, are typically looked down upon
The reason for that is primarily for the instituionalized and organized religions to maintain their power -
Let me explain this: Organized Religions maintain their Powers by acting as the Go-Betweens between the People and God .. Where as in the Mystic orders, whether it's the Gnostics or the Sufis, People can access God directly .. Without any Go-Betweens!
I hope that has clarified things for you,
Please let me know if you have any additional questions,
Take Care Sweetheart :)
PT
P.S. Again, I would like to emphasize to you to focus on the fundamentals, and not get bogged down on too many details - Like the saying goes: Don't Miss the Forest For The Tree :) - !

by yolanda on Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:53 PM PSTDear PT,
It seems to me that Sufism have many different orders. Rumi founded Mawlawi Order. Rumi's sufism is independent of other religions. Other sufism is more or less related to Islam. I plan to read Mawlawi Order tonight. I have one question, but I am not sure if it is a polite one. If it is a bad question, please ignore it and forgive me. My question is that how Iranian government feels about Mawlawi Order and the Rumi's poem I posted? The poem said that there is no God in Kaaba meaning God is not with Islamic ceremony or ritual. Is Iranian government comfortable with the doctrines of Mawlawi Order? Do the sufis of Mawlawi Order worship together in Iran? or they just believe in God in their hearts?
Thank you and take care!!

by yolanda on Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:51 PM PSTDear PT,
I read 70% of the sufism article. It is a super hard article loaded with technical jargons and links. It says that sufism is muslim mysticism and it is one branch of Islam. According to Wikipedia article, Sufi doctrines and Islamic laws are compatible. IBN Arabi's name came up, but they only mentioned Rumi a little bit.....the word "Jesus" came up one time also....
When I read about Rumi, I felt his concept of God is not just restricted to Islam, it is more universal.....just like what he mentioned in his poem that he found God in his heart, not in churches or mosques.....
I will read more later......I have a lot to learn.....I just got the word today that the bookseller has sent the "Prayer of Jabez" book thru 1st class ......so I will get the book shortly. Yeah!!!
Thank you for everything!
Take care!!!

Thank you for your great answer! You are amazing! I hope IC will never crash, so I can go back and read the posts over and over. I am not worried about the videos 'cause I have saved all of them with my You-tube account. I like this part very much:
if someone is at such a state of spiritual consciousness, it doesn't truly matter whether one is a Christian, a Jew, or a Muslim! In such a state, one is experiencing Divinity in its purest form - Period!
Thank you!!!!
I read about Ibn Arabi tonight 'cause I like him, too. He was also a Sufi poet, but he was not Persian. I need to read Sufism later 'cause it is a long article on Wiki, I need more time and with more clear mind to digest the reading. It seems to be an interesting article. I saw the historical sites of Sufism in India and China........I deeply appreciate all your answers. It is super kind of you!!
Take care!!! Thank you for all your great answers!!!
I am aiming for Dec 18, 1:23 pm...after that, I don't have to work until 2010!!!! Yeah!!! :O))
Take care!!!

"Cactus in the Desert"
Dear yolanda
by Passing Through on Sun Dec 13, 2009 10:29 PM PSTFirst, let me thank you for these wonderful questions:
Let ne start by talking about Rumi (Mowlana)'s Religion:
If you remember, in a couple of blogs ago, we had a discussion regarding the terms Mysticim, Gnosticism, and Sufism in this comment (Again, you need to be logged in when clicking on the link to be able to see the comment)
You have to understand this: The whole concept of Mysticism, Gnosticism, and Sufism, correspond to a state that Transcends normal religious activities.
By that I mean, if someone is at such a state of spiritual consciousness, it doesn't truly matter whether one is a Christian, a Jew, or a Muslim! In such a state, one is experiencing Divinity in its purest form - Period!
Now, regarding Rumi (Mowlana)'s burial place:
Let me explain this to you this way: At the time of Mowlana's life when he was living in eastern Persia (around the city of Balkh), a horde of Mongol Warriors attacked Persia from the east! At that time, the Mongols had a very bad reputation for being brutal, and acting as savages.
Mowlana, in order to move away from the attack, and move to safety, went westward! He ultimately settled in Konya where he died, and his shrine is there!
Almost all of Mowlana's works is in Farsi (Persian) - The Turks consider him very highly because he is buried there!
Finally, if you ask any reputable Scholar regarding the nationality of Rumi (Mowlana), he/she would tell you that he was Persian! At the time of Mowlana's life, the city of Balkh (where Mowlana was from) was part of Persia - Now it's part of Afghanistan!
I hope that has answered your questions :)
Please let me know if you have any additional ones,
PT
P.S. To truly understand Mowlana, one has to transcend the concept of normal religions - That's why I was encouraging you to take your time in fully understanding that beautiful poem that you posted two (2) comments down!

by yolanda on Sun Dec 13, 2009 09:46 PM PSTDear PT,
I have a couple of questions. I am not sure if they are polite ones or not. If they are bad questions, please ignore them.
1) I read about Rumi this morning and read some of his poems on You-tube. The impression I got is that he believed in God, but he was not a Muslim. I posted his poem this morning. He stated he found God in his heart, not in Christian church or Kaaba in Mecca.
At the same time, I read these poems from Rumi:
Flee to God's Koran, take refuge in it
there with the spirits of the prophets merge.
The Book conveys the prophets' circumstances
those fish of the pure sea of Majesty.
Man banda-ye qur'ānam, agar jān dāram
man khāk-e rah-e muhammad-e mukhtāram
gar naql konad joz īn kas az goftāram
bēzāram azō waz-īn sokhan bēzāram.
I am the servant of the Qur'an as long as I have life.
I am the dust on the path of Muhammad, the Chosen One.
If anyone quotes anything except this from my sayings,
I am quit of him and outraged by these words.
My question: Was Rumi Muslim? Sufi Muslim? or just Sufi?
2) Rumi was buried in Konya Turkey. I recall you posted a link to a Turkish site in your previous blog. The Turkish language looks very different from Farsi. My question is that when Rumi moved to Konya and died over there.....what language did people speak in Konya in that era? Farsi or Turkish language?
I visited Rumi's fanclub on Facebook before, he has a lot of fans in Turkey.
Thank you for your great blog and poem!
Take care!!!

by yolanda on Sun Dec 13, 2009 10:25 AM PSTDear PT,
I finally read Rumi on Wikipedia. It is super fascinating! Rumi means "Roman", Wow! I need to read more on Shams, Attar, Sufism......some people call Rumi the perfect man, Wow! ...........There is a Rumi Persian Grill in Beijing: //rumigrill.com/menu.html
They serve Iranian Baklava and Persian Saffron & Rosewater Ice Cream besides Kebabs. I plan to visit Beijing within next 2 years. (If I am lucky and have enough money, I will visit both Beijing and Iran).......... I will definitely visit the Rumi restaurant and take some pictures, too. I have a feeling an Iranian owns the restaurant.
I like this poem by Rumi:
I searched for God among the Christians and on the Cross and therein I found Him not.
I went into the ancient temples of idolatry; no trace of Him was there.
I entered the mountain cave of Hira and then went as far as Qandhar but God I found not.
With set purpose I fared to the summit of Mount Caucasus and found there only 'anqa's habitation.
Then I directed my search to the Kaaba, the resort of old and young; God was not there even.
Turning to philosophy I inquired about him from ibn Sina but found Him not within his range.
I fared then to the scene of the Prophet's experience of a great divine manifestation only a "two bow-lengths' distance from him" but God was not there even in that exalted court.
Finally, I looked into my own heart and there I saw Him; He was nowhere else.
Take care!

by yolanda on Sat Dec 12, 2009 10:00 PM PSTThe name of this video is called "Sunshine onTashkurgan". It is Tajik music. Tashkurghan is a small town in China bordering Afghanistan, Tajikstan. Pakistan, and Kyrgystan. Here is the info from Wikipedia about Tashkurgan:
*********************************
Many centuries later Tashkurgan became the capital of Sarikol (色勒库尔), a kingdom of the Pamir Mountains, and later of Qiepantuo (朅盘陀) under the Persians. At the northeast corner of the town is a huge fortress known as the Princess Castle dating from the Yuan Dynasty (1277-1367 CE), and the subject of many colourful local legends. A ruined Zoroastrian temple is located near the fortress.
*********************************
It is interesting that Tashkurgan was once ruled by the Persians and there is a ruined Zoroastrian temple in the town. Chinese Tajiks live there now.
