by ramintork on Tue Dec 22, 2009 03:45 AM PSTMitra (Mehr) became Mithras in the Roman Empire. Merchants and soldiers who had contact with our civilization became Mithras worshippers. They celebrated the winter solstice, which is the birth of Mithras, and later when Romans became Christian they gave the date of birth of Mithras and even some of his attributes such as virgin birth, 12 disciples, and resurrection to Jesus.
