As most of you know far better than I, the Shah fled Iran on January 16, 1979. Although the Islamic Republic was not declared til Ipril 1, and Bakhtiar aside, I think (or I thought?) most people consider this the date which at least symbolically marks the advent of the IRI.
In looking over the blogs from around that date I only saw a couple about it and they were quite undercommented while the Gaza threads grew longer and more prevalent by leaps and bounds.
What does this mean?
Does it mean that many of the bloggers were so overwhelmed with the Gaza situation for humanitarian reasons that they just forgot or didn't care?
Does it mean that some of the specifically political lines drawn on the Palestine/Israel conflict so closely reflect those already existing pre-January 16, 1979 in Iran that for some it is really the same political conversation in a different form, so much so that the Gaza situation eclipsed the recognition and discussion of the anniversary?
Does it mean that the Israeli/Palestinian situation is so important now for other specific geopolitical reasons to some people that it distracted them from noticing or caring about the date?
Or that some bloggers were too busy reacting to vicious slanderous personal attacks (which seemed to to be related to historical Iranian politics anyway, vali man chi midoonam)?
Or that some do not pay attention to this date anway ever?
Or that some are ready to move on? Or a combination of all of the above or some of the above?
Or none of the above?
Does it mean anything at all?
Well, I forgot the date so let me say a little belatedly, Happy Thirtieth Anniversary, IRI!
Does hardly paying attention to this date here mean that some of the bloggers are now ready to cut the cake honestly and equitably and accept collective responsibility for the Revolution while forgiving themselves and others for whatever individual roles they might have played during that insane and troubled time, decades ago and yet just yesterday?
Or does it mean the cake is still being cut as lopsidedly as ever only with a new icing on it called Palestine? Or both? Or nada, zilch, niente. Notthing at all.
Man chi midoonam? Seriously. I mean it.

Anonymity and Accountability in C-Space
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 07:37 PM PSTDK, let's face it, you and I (and most of us here) are no spring chickens. The technology and the times and collective mindset are changing at exponential rate, as predicted by Alvin Toffler in Future Shock in the 60's. In some sense we have all been shocked in one way or another by the nature of the new medium-blogging/ Many of us have been tested by the unprecedently fuzzy frontiers between the public and private. Others by the challenges of individual vs. collective running of a "democratic" website. The tests sometimes feel bitter, but this too shall pass.
Anonymity vs. accountability is a big test. In C-space, the rules for what constitutes "identity" change. Anyone who consistently writes under a specific "moniker" and avatar has a legitimate identity in C-space. (There are several factors specific to this website which complicate this "shock" but I won't go into them now or I swear I'm gonna drop). However one must also remember many great novelists, polemicists, etc. who used "noms de plume."
In my account you will find my real name and contacts. Other reg users may have same and/or contact button and if we contact them they may tell us their real identities. Others no. But in the case of Margie Simpson, one thing ya gotta credit her: obnoxious smartass that she is, it would be EXTREMELY unlikely that she posted under any identity here other than Margie the Mouth.
C-space is not 3D space. C-space is not really even the 20th century. It is the New Millennium, and we are just little people swept up in a planetary technological revolution.
Darius, we have to accept that a consisten cyber-identity IS a legitimate identity within a serious blogging community (and yep, I agree, this is a SERIOUS one--run though it may be by Chuckles the Clown).
As you know, DK, you are perfectly justified in feeling you only should respond to those who use their real names (although how would we know it was their real name anyway if it wasn't a well-known family name like yours or Cameron's? U C how wierd C-space is?)
But I'm afraid it's not a legitimate standard to distinguish between the DK's and Camerons and me's of the cyber-world and the ones who do not give their real identities in terms of who has the "right" to criticize you or me or anyone. Sometimes it is best to ignore. A favorite tactic of mine is telling someone who's getting up my nose I'm going to ignore you from now on and then whenever they post to me I just answer, I'm ignoring you. LOL.
As far as attack goes, NO ONE should be allowed to attack anyone. But it's a fine line in the sand between criticism and attack. We are all learning, moderation team too. Overall...
It's a new ballgame, DK. It's a brand new ballgame.
Shah and IRI, it is what it is
by Observer (not verified) on Thu Jan 22, 2009 07:13 PM PST1. Shah was out of touch.
2. He never imagined a revolution would take place in Iran and he wasn't ready for it.
3. He was advised by his handlers (Americans) to leave Iran so they could control the situation through Bakhtiar as the new prime minister.
4. Revolution happened and Pahlavis were overthrown.
5. IRI was voted in by a vast majority of Iranians.
6. IRI suppressed the oposition and clerical system was stablished.
7. IRI pushed back Saddam's army and Saddam had to accept defeat.
8. Iran became independent of U.S. policies in the region.
9. For thirty years U.S. and Israel have been advocating for regime change in Iran.
10. We the people of Middle East learned what they mean by regime change to us it is another name for destruction of a nation.
NO MARGE YOU AIN't ENTITLED & HERE IS WHY !
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Jan 22, 2009 07:14 PM PSTYou Are not entitled to ANY OPINION when you express yourself under a fictional and anonymous identity.
Your Freedom of Expression is simply tolerated because no one has the right to ask your passport or ID card to express yourself here and Thanks GOD ( or Thanks JJ)
ANONYMITY WOULD ONLY BE JUSTIFIED IF YOU LIVED IN IRAN OR A TOTALITARIAN STATE OR HAD FAMILY WHO COULD BE THREATENED BY WHAT YOU WRITE.
THAT WOULD BE JUSTIFIED AND UNDERSTANDABLE !
I have no problem with being attacked or accused of anything when someone does that with his or her real identity. I Would Definitvely Answer Back or Hit Back just as Hard to such attacks but I would not hold it against them for they would be accountable for their opinions.
I don't need to see your ID Card or Passport either but I consider that when someone registers under a Real Identity ( Name / Photo) then that Person has the minimum requirement to be respected. If I disagree with him/her or get into a cyber fight then he/she has the perfect right to attack me and treat me with the same behavior and language even if I start Protesting in return and claiming the contrary. THAT WOULD BE FAIR !
A MODERATOR's INTERFERENCE WOULD INDEED BE LEGITIMATE IN SUCH A CASE FOR BOTH SIDES !
You However like other anonymous people on this site ( whether I agree with them or Not) are actually abusing the VERY NOTION of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION !
Be it Jaleho , Ostaad, smhb,Another Lost Iranian Living in Paris, Ajam, amirkabear4u, Mammad who happen to oppose my views but also those who share my views or like what I write (anonymous admiror,Zion , samsam1111, Pahlevan etc) but express them under nicknames or avatars to hide their identity or pseudos should ponder on the very notion of responsability and accountability of their opinions.
Not long ago one of the feature writers on this website which I never Shared ANY of his Views ( but who wrote with his full Identity) Hossein Derakhshan was Arrested in IRan.
HOSSEIN WAS ENTITLED TO HIS OPINIONS !
So is Abarmard with whome my Political Opinions are diametrically opposed but he at least expresses them with his real face and at least what appears to be his first name.
NOT YOU PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU SHARE OR NOT MY OPINIONS OR VALUES !
WRITING AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION HAS A PRICE !
It Is not vain to say that people can die or be hurt for expressing them in the light of the day. So the least we can do is at least be held responsible for what we write or defend.
There is No Shame in trying to shape public opinion or influence it with your ideas and convictions be them extreme if you have the courage of Standing for them in the light of the day and under your True Identity.
Those who attempt to do this under anonymity because they live in Iran and don't have OUR LUXURY OF FREEDOM and can be hurt for expressing their ideas have a valid justification NOT YOU !
Otherwise YOU ARE Simply Tolerated But Have NO Credibility to give lessons to others in terms of moral grounds or question their integrity. Like You did Several times regarding the information I delivered regarding the Kurds Predicament in a recent post and claiming that I would have even defended their suppression by the Shah's regime had it taken place at that time. People can read my response on the comment section: recent post
I would not have hold it against you if you had expressed it under your FULL IDENTITY. You may even have had a valid argument but then your critics or even accusations towards me would have some Legitimacy in that you would be accountable for expressing them and would deserve respect in your quest for the TRUTH or even Justice.
That is how I criticized Robert Baer by taking the Risk of expressing my suspicions in the light of the day and with my full Identity. And the Events that followed Proved my Point or at best supported my suspicions !
But to read comments by Anonymous people on this website be it under anonymity or nicknames or pseudonyms and taking their Freedom of Expression for Granted (when so many of us have earned it the hard way in the first ten years of the existence of this website at the expense of being attacked, threatened and insulted without the possibility of responding back other than in good faith and with the power of the Pen ! ) only to demolish people or stab them in the back is truly disgusting or Worst Promote Ideologies of Hate Like Nazism or Racism without EVER Doing so under their TRUE IDENTITY are simply Enemies of Democracy.
This has nothing to do with Sensitivity but with Accountability !
But You are Right the Lack of Accountability by the Army of anonymous people like you on this site does Trigger my Anger, particularly when my Responses to their attacks are moderated by some ANONYMOUS BIG BROTHER !

Free Spirit,
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 05:47 PM PSTFirst of all, J. did not FEATURE Zion's disgusting ceasefire blog. He features controversial blogs but he does not feature cruel ones, and at least once I saw him delete one.
Second of all, yes, once again:
IF, I said IF I wanted to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the IRI why would that be beyond the parameters of legitimate civil discourse? Zion's implicitly accusing three-quarters of us of being covert sadists secretly bloodlusting after the torn limbs of dead children (sorry to disappoint you that there is a ceasefire, she said) is at the very border zone of civil discourse.
In the case of someone actually celebrating the 30th anniversary of the IRI, this would not be the case at all.
Third,
Okay if you don't like the expression "little bell" I apologize and will change the wordingL
Anytime you think I am doing anything that is the same as Zion's disgusting ceacesfire blog, that should be an indication to you that either you are mssing an irony, or something else has gone wrong in the communication.

If your following statement doesn't make the bell sound in your head then nothing, I or anyone else says will.
By the way, we both know JJ will give freedom of speech to just about anyone. HELLO! Zion posted her Ceasfire! blog.
After all what is his motto "NOTHING IS SACRED"
This is what just came out of your head and fingers:
"Except for ONE other thing I just realized...so what IF I really DID want to wish the IRI a happy anniversary instead of being ironic here?
What would be wrong with that?
but what IF I really wanted to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the IRI?
What would be wrong with that? "
:( But Rosie.......
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Jan 22, 2009 05:26 PM PSTWhat I meant to say is that I will not honor the shah for January the 16 the way Darius does on a daily basis by posting flattering pictures or videos. I honor the shah by speaking my mind about his mistakes - something he did not permit people to do.....something basic and fundamentally beautiful and HARMLESS considering the mud Iranians are in now in terms of free speech. Had he understood and respected this, his pretty son could be sitting on a fancy throne, selling cheap oil to America, and making heirs like there is no tomorrow. Instead, well.... you know the instead. It's all about the instead - NOT darius. That is what darius fails to see. The bigger picture.
Darius is just sensitive. Very sensitive. I'm glad that he caught it though. Although I suspect he read it simply because this blog is about the shah, not because he loves me. Here's lookin at you kid (Darius) ;0)
And Rosie, yes you are right about my problem with the shah. Thanks for digesting it for Darius. I could care less if the shah was still around, or his son, eating fancy food and wearing fancy clothes in Iran. I really don't. As long as I could have been living their in peace like I do here in America. All these politicians are rich fancy jerks. I just feel angry about what he decided to do, and I won't be kind to him because when you're the king, you're the mother-funkin' king. It bears responsibilities, at least we thought so.

I realize nothing except that you and anyone else who didn't get it has a profoundly poor understanding of irony. And anytime you think I'm doing anything even remotely like that Zion ceasefire blog a little warning bell should go off in your head saying irony check! irony check!
That is all I realize.
Except for ONE other thing I just realized...so what IF I really DID want to wish the IRI a happy anniversary instead of being ironic here?
What would be wrong with that?
There is something dreadfully wrong about accusing people of being sorry about a ceasefire because they want more bloodshed and laughing at them...
but what IF I really wanted to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the IRI?
What would be wrong with that?
FER CRISSAKE DO YOU THINK J. WOULD"VE FEATURED THIS IF HE DIDN"T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANT? OR MPD WOULD"VE BEEN LAUGHING FROM THE GET-GO?

DK I'm sorry I didn't see that part, I don't know why,
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 05:06 PM PSTprobably because the post is so long and bounces from here to there with the language in typical Marge fashion...so probably the moderators didn't notice it either. Marge he is right, you have the f's and the f's okay fine whatever but to put a real person's name anywhere near that context, especially these days in this volatile climate, it's not good Marge, it's harmful. Almost all of us love you for being outspoken but...you can say whatever you like to me about me, and many others, but not everyone...
I have a lot to say DK about this issue of moderation/anonymity vs. accountabilty but this discussion here on tiis website is quite complex, I am too drained to go into it now. For now all I'll say is no you are not FORCED to do ANYTHING, why don't you just flag the offending posts and ignore them? or something? When you start railing like that (especially in response to something like Marge's post where the dig at you is really so hard to even see...) don't you realize you wound up sounding bad and this does not endear the moderation team to your arguments to them?
Please calm down. Have a sherry. Do you like sherry? Watch "Sabrina". You will feel better. You have a brilliant critical ARTISTIC sensibility which very few people here have. You should not waste SO MUCH energy on things like this, you have better things to do for yourself and for people like me...

by Free Spirit on Thu Jan 22, 2009 04:56 PM PSTWhatever happened to being careful with the use of the titles?
Do you realize you just offended the majority of the Iranians on this website?
You just did what you accused and were disgusted about Zion. Aye!
Oh well.....good luck because the SH*T is really going to hit the fan this time.
Darius aziz you are entitled to ALL your opinions
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Jan 22, 2009 05:02 PM PSTALL of them. I'm entitled to mine. It's great that you are so dedicated to our dead shah who loved Iran so much, that he left it like a scared little rabbit when we needed wise leadership more than ever. Obviously, he came up short.
I'm always glad you follow what I write and that you flag it because it includes your name. But maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't post stuff here or anywhere if you can't handle someone reacting to it or putting in the context of criticising the shah, considering the flattering pictorials to serve up on a daily basis. (Though I think the shah never took an unflattering picture. He was wise with his photo ops). That ought to make your job a bit easier I suppose.
Our homeland is run by corrupt religious madmen, and you are concerned about me challenging your ridiculous praisesong for the Pahlavis. Get a clue. This isn't about YOU. This is about Iran. The country we are both from and love.
Love you always,

by Parthian on Thu Jan 22, 2009 04:31 PM PSTThat IR and it supporters are concerned with every little business past and present except when it relates to Iran. Every time there is a discussion regarding the revolution, they are either mouthing off about evil jews, Israel, palestine, or a dead coward dictator who is been dead for 30 years. No one seems to talk about our present degenerate, coward, religious, one armed, uncivilized dictator who has killed more Iranians in the past 30 years than anyone else, and don't forget his little brass monkey sidekick, than I can remember.

by Darius Kadivar on Thu Jan 22, 2009 04:36 PM PSTI WON't ACCEPT THE DOUBLE STANDARDS ON THIS WEBSITE PARTICULARLY WHEN SOMEONE UNDER ANONYMITY IMPLIES ME IN THE CONVERSATION !
I DON'T CARE IF ONE ATTACKS OR CRITICIZES ME UNDER THEIR FULL IDENTITY FOR I WOULD CONSIDER IT FAIR.
BUT WHEN IT CONSISTS OF PERSONAL ATTACKS AND IMPLYING FALSE IMPRESSIONS AND UNPROVEN ALLEGATIONS REGARDING ME ON A SYSTEMATIC BASIS AND UNDER THE SO CALLED "BOLD STANCE OF ANONYMITY" I WON'T ACCEPT IT !
IT IS NOT JUST ON THIS THREAD LIKE BELOW:
QUOTE:
"So in conclusion, I would like to give a big thanks and a large funk you to Mr. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi the coward. But not the way Monsieur Kadivar does, by excusing and praising him. I'd like to honor the sexy shah by giving him the criticism he deserves, the criticism he never let people have before he left Iran." -MARGE
BUT ELSEWHERE TOO AND ON A REGULAR BASIS ( WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST INTERVENTION OF A MODERATOR):
I WAS ALREADY CHALLENGED BY AN ANONYMOUS BLOG BY NEWSGOFFER ( TO WHOM I PROMISED A RESPONSE, WHICH I COULD VERY WELL REFUSE TO DO GIVEN THAT AGAIN ITS TO AN ANONYMOUS POST BY AN UNIDENTIFIED CONTRIBUTOR) WHICH MADE HEADLINES HERE ON THE FRONT BLOG PAGE CONFUSING MY OPINION ON THE GAZA CONFLICT WITH A SO CALLED ENDORSEMENT OF THE KILLINGS OF CHILDREN AND CIVILIANS IN GAZA !
I AM NOT FORCED TO JUSTIFY MY OPINIONS TO ANONYMOUS PEOPLE AND POSTS AIMED ONLY AT BAD MOUTHING OR DISCREDITING ME IN PUBLIC WHICH IS BEGINING TO LOOK LIKE A PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST ME THAN ANYTHING ELSE !

by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 04:04 PM PSTMarge's post is an imagined monologue to a dead person. The only living person she addresses in it is me. She laments like I do the fact that because of what happened 30 years ago the community here is still divided. Also we are friends and I am Jewish and we hold very different views of the Shah. As you probably know I feel the two Shahs left a mixed legacy and I admire them for a lot of it. Marge does not appear to but in re-reading her post (twice) I found there is more anger about how the Shah left than about the monarchy itself.--don't get mad at me for that one if I'm wrong Marge...just explain it to me and STAY COOL--and I also find there is concern for how BOTH "sides" are fighting each other..
I would say to the MODERATORS that maybe it is best these days to just ex out all the heavy "four letter words" these days in these discussions because they seem to be pushing buttons like red cloths in a bullfight...I mean the f one's in Marge's post which is obviously otherwise w/in bounds of civil discourse..
but still Darius you have to understand that talking that way to a dead king is NOT an ad hominem attack on ANY PERSON HERE.
It's just not....

by John on Thu Jan 22, 2009 03:11 PM PSTFor me one good thing came out of the IRI. Without the subsequently imposed repression of Iranian women, the jewel in my life probably would not have left her native country for mine, and so I would never have met the most wonderful person I've ever known, and my life would not be the interesting, amusing, enjoyable, loving and stimulating experience that it now is.
Thanks for the diatribe, Marge. More Looong Ones, Please! :o)
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 03:08 PM PSTActually there is a VERY specific reason why my bringing up the date is important here and now, because alimostofi's blog, Agar Shah Narafteh Bood I truly believe normally would've generated all the gleeful bloodlust and billious venom the concurrent Gaza ones did. Of course there are many many people who couldn't care less about this date but there are others that do, and whether they care about the DATE or not I believe they normally would've jumped on Ali's blog as a pretext for the usual Shaahi vs. Akhoon blood-soaked pixel pillow fight ond this cyber-slumber party of ours AIt is a sacred ritual. nd yet they did not. They whacked each other on the Gaza threads, many pbvopis;u along similar ideological lines.. And even if they are only a small percentage of the regular posters, BOY DO THEY POST LOUD! So honestly in terms of the website discourse I think it's significant. They are fighting the same battle elsewhere IMHO...to what extent do they realize this?
THAT was the irony that REALLY surprised me. I wanted to change the blog to make it clearer but I couldn't because of this damn mechanism where once you are featured if you make any correction, even a comma, you are unfeatured.
I hate that unfeaturing feature.
And that is my tragic story
I think Congrats are in order for the sexy shah
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Jan 22, 2009 02:50 PM PSTCongrats on a sneaky safe get away!
Thank you for abandoning the country you claimed to love. Thank you for taking your dog and leaving many of your blinded men behind to die like dogs in a fire. Thank you for pissing it all away. Thanks. I love living in a foreign country and having to defend my ethnic dignity. Let me say this in a language I think the shah loved more than any other: MERCI BEAUCOUP MON CHERIE.
Thank you for allowing an illiterate religious idiot to beat you. Thanks. That was just fantastic. Thank you for enjoying Iran while you had it in your hand, but giving up when you knew your idiotic policies had blown up in your face (because let's face it, you loved your yes men YES YOU DID!).
Thank you for enjoying the fairy tale and leaving the rest of us without our country. Thank you for taking the easy route. Leaving your military who could have squashed Khomeini like a fly. Many of them died you know. Many of them lost their dignity you know, defending you and your stupid idiotic monarchy, while you were supine and holding Farah. At least you got to die in secret. Those men didn't deserve that. Fuck you shah. Fuck you to hell.
Thank you Rosie. Thank you for bringing this important date to our attention. The day when a paper tiger fancy ass abandoned "his people" and his devoted men. You are precious and important in this community. Sometimes we forget the big scope as immigrants to this funny place, the west, especially America. I'm sick of people simply saying "oh when the shah this and that people did not poop or vomit and there were no flus or colds. it was magical times". If it had been, maybe if it had been.... then..... do you think I would be writing this furious chant for you?
Oh and the most beautiful part of this, not only did this stupid moron of a man leave his country and his people, they are now brilliantly divided and calling each other names like enemies! They call each other dumb names and they try to undermine each other with slurs and dogma. Oh it's just beautiful what is happening to Iranians, even the "FREE" ones, eh? All this technology so we can call each other "mullah babY' and "IRI SPY".
So in conclusion, I would like to give a big thanks and a large funk you to Mr. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi the coward. But not the way Monsieur Kadivar does, by excusing and praising him. I'd like to honor the sexy shah by giving him the criticism he deserves, the criticism he never let people have before he left Iran.
I love you Rosie. I do. You love people and Iran. What a great example.

Congratulations to all revolutionaries, old and new, islamists, leftists, and pseudo intellectuals, followers of khomeini, rajavi, and Yazdi, and all those who looked into mohammad and marx to help them take over a half-decent country and in 30 years turn it into a unlivable place and then run away, yet take their ideologies with them.
Congratulations for taking a country 30 years backwards in 30 years and destroying everything on their path.
Congratulations for being registered in history of iran along-side alexander, omar, changiz, tatar, and saddam.
Congratulations for succeeding in turning a country with so much potential into a country of dust, poverty, prostitution, corruption, thievery, and destruction. For killing so many from the moment that your emam set foot on iran. For caring for your arab brothers more than dirty iranians, for helping saddam in his venture into iran. For screaming about freedom for decades and within a year hanging the first editor of newspaper and closing down so many others. Congratulations for placing iran on the first place on the list of per-capita juveniles on death row. For making 4 million iranians immigrate out of iran in 30 years. For robbing from orphan children of Bam and donating to hezbollah and hamas. For making likes of rafsanjani and ghara'ati super rich and turning mullas into airline owners and high-rise builders.
Congratulations, specially to western-living islamist and leftist supporters of islamic republic who have the nerve to continue to endorse their total screw up of iran but are not brave enough to live there inside iran.
Congratulations indeed.

Absolutely, brilliant! Please make that into a blog.

... have no ill will toward the ordinary German people who lived during the Third Reich. I went to live in Germany in my thirties. I hold these people collectively but not individually responsible. I forgave them long ago. Even up to Hitler. Hitler was severely mentally ill. Goebbels on the other hand was an evil man. People like Goebbels manipuated Hitler as their poster child to do their evil deeds, not the other way around That is my firm opinon. People use the term "Hitler" as interchangeable with "Nazi Germany" and "the Third Reich". This is absurd. He was one person surrounded by many far more intelligent and calculating than him.
If I can try to understand Hitler, why can't you try to understand us?
Wouldn't you rather win the heart and mind of one Zionist than push twenty to the far right? When people do things like use titles like Nazi state of Israel or juxtaposecertain photos they're not convincing anyone. They are preaching to the converted. I already know the parallels, so does anyone in the peace movement. Israel is right now the most loathed country in the world. So who are you trying to convince with this rhetoric? What is it FOR? What is your OBJECTIVE?
Peace Now,
The title is IRONIC, the title is IRONIC.
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 22, 2009 01:49 PM PSTThe questions (whether TINGED with irony or not) are in dead earnest.
Kaveh you can't be serious telling me I'm being harmful and opening up old wounds. Every single thread on Gaza last week and before, even the most innocuous humanitarian ones, reeked so much of these wounds that they were fetid and gangrenous. This blog is harmful? And you are Marcus Welby MD?
Hundreds of hate-filled posts on Gaza and a concurrent blog called Agar Shah Narafteh Bood--nine measly comments.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? DOES IT MEAN ANYTHING AT ALL? Insight, I am asking for questioning, observation, insight AOUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED ON THIS SITE. Now I know a lot of the apolitical and younger people really DON'T remember the date or care but still these questions could maybe encourage them to have more insight about their "hamvatans" here. If they feel like it.
Insight breeds peace.
Who am I to ask for insight? Well, a lot of people tell me they like when I do that, so I keep on doing it. In fact it's the only reason I stay here, because other than my loathing of Khomeinism in conjunction with my insistence on pacifism and lack of foreign intervention at all in Iran, I have never taken any specific stance on Iranian politics, because it isn't my place. I'm not as familiar as the minds I most respect here (on various sides of the political spectrum) so I just ask questions and point out contradictions.
Hmmmm...maybe that's WHY there's so much fighting here...because some of you are ironically challenged. If you don't believe ME check out THIS blog. How ANYONE could read it and not know the title is ironic is simply..beyond my ken.
And this LACK of sense of irony here is ITSELF ironic because...I mean, well...lemme put it this way: ask Jahanshah to explain irony. That is, if you can get a straight answer out of him. LOL
Cheers,
Roxy from irony.com
PS And you, Kaveh...you probably have the KEENEST sense of irony onsite...apparently as long as it comes from you?....LmoreOL
Dear Rolls Royce plus one
by Nick (not verified) on Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:01 PM PSTDear Rolls Royce plus one more,
It means none of the above...
Some are weary, some are devastated, others are still putting their best foot forward
and many are hoping that "this too shall pass".
Let it be azizam... let it be.
One hundred years down the road someone will look back and say
"Wow , I never knew!" and then he laughs...
Marge, Kaveh, you guys are hilarious,
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:34 AM PST…hilarious, I tell you :O) Let's have a celebration.
