I had a good hunch that Sarah the wise Mama will disappoint the nay sayers & lefto-centric elites of the Liberal media, Obama mania & Doomsday leftist schizophrenia. Sarah the true warrior of feminism & common sense rocked as Yours truly expected.
Mr Obama the poster child & hollowed dreamer of liberal left is better off to come up with a newer version of his empty sermons "Rozeh-Khooni" or simply lose the show to that "lil hill billy girl" from Alaska whom He so lightly brushed aside as insignificant.... Goes to show You that ;

I honestly think that I am going dizzy having to explain my views over and over and over again only to have a republican turn around and tell me I should vote for Palin since I am a woman!!!

Anonymous... where in the world would you get the idea I might be jealous of Palin? You simply aren't getting my point. I've NEVER said or implied she was a bad mother. I absolutely stand by my point that I do not believe she can be an effective VP and a mother of four, one of which is a special-needs child. But I'm not going to start in on that again.
Just wanted to clear the air on that one...AGAIN...lol.

according to Laura Bush is qualified for national security, because Alaska is so near Russia, one wonders, who are the total idiots who follow the other village idiot?
As for this nonsense about Obama being elitist.
It's his fault for having a brain and using it and getting to university?
What is elitist is what Fox news and the Republicans have being doing: dumbing everyone down so that they can do with their chattle as they like.
I suggest everyone get over her vagina and try to listen - I know it's hard - to the crap she says.

Hands off Irandokht
by skatermom (not verified) on Sat Sep 06, 2008 08:36 PM PDTHands off Irandokht sister,
Sarah Palin was the one who dragged her motherhood out. Her party was the one that made the issue. Feminists, mothers, women who have posted here have no problem that she is a woman running for VP. We have a problem with the fact that she is the WRONG woman running for VP. She's THE woman who will take everything our grandmothers and mothers fought for and toss them back in to the last century. She is vehemently anti-choice. She is also an advocate of creationism. I have a 5th grader who NEEDS to learn hard sciences. Not some cockamamy fairy tale story of how he was a product of an incestuous tryst in a garden over an apple. Or that early man walked with a pachycephalosaurs or that the earth was created 6000 years ago.
Palen's problem made it our problem when she refused funding for women centered programs in her home state. What makes you think she wont make it her priority to the same for our great nation.
Don't think for a minute that if Obama's un married, under age daughter wasn't pregnant the republicans wouldn't parade her out and have a problem with it.
Like Bill Maher said: "If this happened to Michele Obama she'd slap the black off her girls."
There are sooo many more working American mothers of 5 out there who can better represent us. Just not this one. This one sucks.

Hey Iran Dokht
by Anonymousagain (not verified) on Sat Sep 06, 2008 03:44 AM PDTthat post has not come from a guy..i am a girl...and i hate girls dragging this feminism everywhere..i fail to understand in a country like America people are dragging her motherhood and her being a lady into politics..damn...if people were truely modern secular democratic (not the party i mean here :)) it should not click to them at all a lady is being posted...why cant she be just seen as a person who is being appointed for a particular thing..why cant she be just seen as a choice...why everytime she has a four month old baby kind of thing coming up....damn it sounds so funny....if people talk of her being efficient or inefficient as a governor or mayor or whatever that still makes sense..but talking of her bearing a baby at 44 and having a baby which is 4 month old makes no sense...
and if she has talked of some family values..it is equally stupid of her to talk..there are certain bare minimum essential values that everybody is expected and supposed to be having when one is living in a civilized society..nobody needs to proclaim them......
how can we help others act according to some values when we as humans keep defeating sometimes some things that we ourselves believe in ..
i mean to say her family life is a point blank discussion.....connecting her with values she possess makes sense..but connecting post of VP with feminism, motherhood, family values is more stupid...and it astounds some more when people living in free progressive modern america talk about it...

Both the better or the worse can only be attributed to myself. I am personally responsible and accountable for where I am in 2008 vs, 2000. And it will remain that way until I become a buffet for worms.
It's going to happen
by yinzer (not verified) on Sat Sep 06, 2008 12:07 AM PDTMcCain/Palin are going to win, the Democrats have botched things once again. Every 4 years it gets easier and easier for a Democrat to win the election yet they consistently fail.
What's worse, dumb candidates runing on a dumb platform -or- losing to dumb candidates runing on a dumb platform? Democrats need to reevaluate thier platform, maybe ask Bill Clinton for a little advise on winning.
Why is McCain/Palin going to beat Obama/Biden? Both sides have rallied thier bases, but its far too easy to paint Obama/Biden as liberal elitists. Outside of the Democrat base, liberal elitism does not win votes. Paul Krugman had a good piece about it in the NyTimes.
Evidence that the Democrats are worried about Palin in her very first week:
- Liberals are already attacking Palin using sexist remarks. That she's a bad mother, that this job cannot be done by a mother with a family. Feminists are not going to vote republican but some of them may stay at home if treated badly. The democrats already alienated many of them by not electing Hillary. And to add insult to injury they didn't give her the VP nod. And now they are saying that a woman with a family is by definition unfit to have an important job. Why would the democrats risk this final insult if they were not afraid of Palin?
- The Dems have used extremly weak links to Pat Buchanan to accuse Palin of being a Nazi and anti-semite. The evidence is laughable, the Dems are grasping at straws out of desperation.
Is a McCain/Palin ticket good for US-Iran policy? I really doubt it. While both parties have had a habit of dropping bombs to solve disputes, McCain seems to have his hand on the trigger. One can only hope that McCain is only talking tough to bring Iran to the table and strike a bargain.
One should not drag feminism everywhere!!
by Anonymous on Fri Sep 05, 2008 09:25 PM PDTThe American Wife and The Mrs. seem to be jealous of Sarah Palin..How much they are trying to prove that she is a very bad lady..sometime using mathematics and taxes as a pretext...sometimes calling her a bad mother...she is not being elected for the post of Mother America..c'mon
No doubt it has been proven again and again women are the worst enemies of women..Ever seen how mother-in laws fare with daughter-in laws...and how the smart girls are worst enemies of smarter ones..
And regarding a 17 year old getting pregrant..do children listen to their parents anymore and obviously Sarah was not there guiding her daughter through the process...
If her career is dear to her it definitely does not mean that she hates her children..
She might not be a very graceful choice but she remains a hot beautiful smart choice...to support Mc Cain...at least now people are ready to look at him..she has been able to divert the attention to Mc Cain who was obviously for obvious reasons being overlooked..She could garner him the attention that he wanted and right now that is all that he wanted!!

by skatermom (not verified) on Fri Sep 05, 2008 04:42 PM PDTHere's some food for thought. Totally tongue in cheek. However isn't perhaps too off base.
Why is it that health ed is not funded in Alaska and Alaskans have large families? Could it be the 1200/year per family member stipend they are given and have been since 1976?
Is Sarah Palin encouraging Alaskans to breed at an exponential rate to amass her state's budget surplus?
Don't think I haven't thought of moving to Ketchekan and started king crab fishing? If I could live thru the grueling winters my family and I can live quite well. I could even talk my hubby in to more kids. There is however my sagging breasts and my crows feet to contend with. There is that annual trip to Rio that could also solve that though.
Crap this is a no-brainer. I just talked myself into it.

by Kaveh Nouraee on Fri Sep 05, 2008 04:17 PM PDTYou're right...the funds remain allocated to Alaska, because the books on the budget for the fiscal year in which the funds were allocated are already closed.
But any expenditure still has to be approved by Washington.
It's like when my mother would give me an allowance when I was a kid but then she would dictate where and how I spent my money. (She's one of "those" people)
Speaking of New Orleans, seeing that Gustav didn't do as much damage as first feared, there's talk that people are going to get complacent again like they did pre-Katrina.
If that were to happen, so many people will die of stupidity thinking they can stand up to Mother Nature.

On the surface, it doesn't look good. But there seems to be a few holes in both sides of this.
Even the fired commissioner says he "believes" that's why he was fired. Maybe that's exactly why he was fired, but when the guy who was fired says that's what he "believes", that still leaves questions as to the real truth.
What doesn't show here is that apparently this ex-brother-in-law had a restraining order placed against him for death threats made against his father in law (the governor's father). He also has multiple negative actions in his personnel file, inclusing drunk driving and tasering his stepson. What a guy.
If that's the case, they guy should have definitely been fired. BUt again, I doubt all the facts are out there. Yet.
