This year the traditional Moharam procession was taken out in Manhattan, NY. The Procession is taken out in order to observe the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (A.S).

by Anonymous123 (not verified) on Tue Jan 29, 2008 12:41 PM PSTWow! So, God sent it via high level language and it was translated (by who?) to low level language so we can understand it?
Maybe you tell us why God appears to change his mind as he sends the "high level" language down! First, he is a God of love and mercy, then he becomes God of hatred and sword!
This is all beyond amazing to me!

by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 04:39 PM PSTI want to make sure that you fully understand what my background is:
I was devoted to Mammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Also, I am a Zartoshti, and when I was growing up, I grew up among the Jewish people.
Consequently, I developed strong negative feelings towards Islam.
Please remeber that when you are reading my comments in this blog. Thanks
P.S. I also use multiple names throughout this site. Names such as Ahmad Bahai, Anonymouspb, Anonymous2008, babakoohi, Kos Sher, and most recently, Nader Vanaki, and Kafka.
I'll keep you posted of new ones if I use them.

Sinehzani in Manhattan
by Agha bala khan (not verified) on Mon Jan 28, 2008 06:10 AM PSTHere in London - UK, we enjoy Ashura and not just sineh zani, but ghameh zani as well, with our Indian, Pakistani, African and Middle Eastern brothers. Inshallah, you will see ghameh zani in New York too and in the grounds of the White House.
Many of my friends give nazri to all - including the non-Shia and the Godless. We even send plates of gheimeh polo to the Buckingham palace and No 10. My Shia brothers and sisters in the USA should do the same. Ishallah
to Lost Identity
by Azarin Sadegh on Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:38 PM PSTHi Lost,
Thanks for clarifying! Now I see what you meant, so I kept reading your previous reply.
I agree with you about hatred and hateful people. But the most hateful people I have ever met were the followers and believers of the same god you talk about.
Look at the history. It is filled with religious wars and I am not just talking about Islam. If there were really only one god, as you believe, why there should have been so many different religions, with the idea that they are the only one holding the absolute truth? And so, they are the only one who deserve the love of god and the hell with others...Wouldn't it mean that we are all going to end up in hell by the mathematics laws?
How much more blood should be shed before we realize that we are all the same and one kind? Only one...and it is the real meaning of humanity and not god.
And yes! I watched the video again and still i find it inhuman that people are beating themselves up, to mourn someone who died 1400 years ago. We are supposed to evolve. To preserve our good traditions and let go of the bad ones, and Ashura, to me, might not be as bad as stoning or cutting hands or fingers, but still shouldn't be kept.
And thanks for the good news that even in Iran it has been forbidden.
Peace,
Azarin

Re: Azarin.....Hatred explained
by LostIdentity (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:27 PM PSTIt was in response to your reply to me as you said" Just by looking at this same thread you can see how much hatred is wasted on the subject. And how much Islam has been discredited and dammaged through this type of barbarian traditions."
I was referring to why som much hatred against Islam. Imagine what these people do when they assume power! I have no idea why people expend so much of their energy on hating others. I call it hatred BLIND since it really blinds the hater. The outcome is disaster for both the hater and the hated, but more so the hater.
We can make the "VALUES" abstract, ambiguious and complex, or we can just let our mind and heart work out their majic, make it simple, understanable and genuine. The heart and mind won't lie unless they are blinded by Eblis. Heart is the place of God and that's where the Godly values reside. Mind is our God given protector agains Arrogance and Ignorance.
Re: Anon...!
by LostIdentity (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:16 PM PSTGod did not write it but sent it and as Quran says "We (God) sent it down and verily we will protect it". What does "sending down" means you may ask? It's analogous to high level vs. low level machin language. In order to make it understandable for mankind, it was made into the words called Quran that you and I know today.
Apparrently, you've read it and understood it's message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got stuck at your first sentence: "Hatred only makes people blind, but it is a great driving force."
I think it is pure madness to sit in the car of a blind driver, no matter the car, no matter the destination!
You know, we might have identical values, but values are just a bunch of abstract definitions. So all depends on how we define these values.

"Quran would've been replaced by another book with man-made verses like the old and new testament"

Re: Azarin.....modern and progressive thinker!!!!!
by LostIdentity (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 12:09 PM PSTHatred only makes people blind, but it is a great driving force. They loose sense of logic and reasoning. These people use some words that sound very progressive or modern but the spirit is ill towards humanity. Fools are usually fooled by their own ignorance, ego or some external forces whispering in their hearts. It does not mean that God directly make them fools, but rather they follow the rule of God that creates FOOLS. They show how pathetic they are on this thread. Imagine if you take power in a society - Your kinds will be even more brutal -even more brutal than Mullahs. I ask you to watch this video again and please tell me what is unhumane in this video. This time watch it with a mind of a free human.
.
My benchmark for people reaction is not this thread. Another sign of "FOOL"ness is that likes of you establishing your sentiments on threads like this. Yes there are haters on this thread but did you expect anything else? Islam-bashing is not today's phenomena. It started the same very day the message started down-pouring. Why do you think there's so many ayas for fighting (IN DEFENCE) with Islam haters?
.
Ashura is truly amazing phenomena. Some believe that if Ashura did not happen, Islam would have lost it's genuineness and originality, Quran would've been replaced by another book with man-made verses like the old and new testament. The world would also loose the meaning of Justice. Now, the rituals done in Ashura, come from the hears and minds of regular people. Mullah say that they actually have no control over these rituals and only warn against some rituals that are demeaning to the spirit of Ashura such as inflicting cuts to head and body. The ayatollahs even banned these acts.
I have no idea how you find this very video disturbing. I surely think that "Shamshir zani" is disturbing and wrong. To me, it's more disturbing to see two guys killing each other in boxing or kick-boxing rings. Why??????????????????? Oh, that looks something modern and cool. There's this mindset that feels ashamed of our own culture and thinks that it's backward and uncool. We usually like to distant from many of our traditions in the name of progress, emancipation and evolution of our intelligensia. We look at these traditions as a chain that kept us from progress. Along with the loss of traditions, we usually loose our values in practice and keep the values at their face-value.
.
If you check your objectives and aspirations in life, you will probably see that we share the same values: Freedom, Justice and Human integrity...etc. If we don't , then I have no argument. The difference is in either how to achieve or who should deliver it. I, for one, am not in the business of puting
.
I surely agree with you that Hypocrites hurt Islam more than it's enemies in the eyes of the uninformed. The enemies also use these hypocrites as a stick to hammer Islam.
But then, Islam deals with what an INDIVIDUAL STRIVES AND STANDS FOR. We can never use the execuse of doing something wrong because I had a HERD MENTALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's terrible to waste our lives on following some special interest people or organization, whether they are Mullahs , or any other breed.
The only legitimate organization I know of is human society where everyone has the right to live as long as he/she does not cause aggression on the rights of others.
Peace to all mankind;
Sinehzani in NY! Ridiculous spectacle!
by New_York (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:35 AM PSTI cannot believe this absurdity. Now even NY isn't spared of this craziness? What's next? Bringing a crane down to Times Square to pull up an adulterer by the neck? I'm sure these participants cannot wait for that opportunity.
If these mullahs and supposed shiaates are so religious that they must sing "Rozee" and beat their chests in the middle of the street I'd like to know what the hell they are doing in America? Don’t they refer to America as the “Great Satan”? And of all places in the US, why are they living in New York? Doesn't New York to these people resemble “hell” on earth? Isn't New York infested with what these people believe to be “sinful temptations”? Then what the hell are they doing there? Isn't it hypocritical to choose to live somewhere that you detest? Why live in a society that is not even remotely based on your set of beliefs and value system? It is crazy beyond belief!
To everyone participating in this craziness: Please return to your employers in Iran, to the bloodthirsty oppressors, the Islamic Republic of Iran. You are not welcome here.
The Carpenter name, The Qajars and the Bazaaris
by John Carpenter III (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 03:44 AM PSTSomeone used my name and wrote something about me.
I need to clear all this information up.
I am American born.
My line has been American born since the Qajar times.
Haj Sayyah was the first Iranian to come to the United States during the Presidency of Ulysses S. Grant, the General that won the Civil war.
My distant uncles were and are presntly involved in Iranian politics. My family has been involved in Iranian politics since before the Qajars. We advised the kings. Before Qajar, there was Nader, and before him an Afghan ruler and before him the Safavids...
My family advised all of them.
They even advised the Pahlavis but,
We could not save the "self destructive" Pahlavis.
Reza Khan was a stubborn arrogant fool.
Mohammad Reza believed "Imam Mahdi" would cure his cancer.
When you have 2 idiots running the country father and son, it is no wonder the people revolt and hand over the country to Ayat-Allah Ruh-Allah Moosavi Khomeini.
People attack me for being a bazaari, I have never been a bazaari. I don't put them down but, the truth is bazaaris are "two-faced". I am one faced. What you see, is what you get.
And as for the posting that I am a "drugged up Qajar", that too is wrong. Ms. Sara Shahi, a Qajar, is a beautiful woman. I am not related to her. Ms. Shahi would be a better monarch than any Pahlavi. I do not endorse the Qajars but, anyone was better than the dictatorial rule of the Pahlavis.
People refer to advance during the Pahlavis. That advance would have occured with anyone being in charge in Iran. The Pahlavis were no "Einsteins". Reza Pahlavi bought his degree. He is not educated. He was in the US Airforce and even their the American Airforce guys would make fun of him. If Reza Pahlavi was a man he would have become a "NAVY SEAL" or "Special Forces". Reza Pahlavi's father paid for that "US Airforce" training. He doesn't deserve to be a pilot. He is uneducated and unworthy of officer status in the US Airforce.
In the US military there is an officer program that teaches foreign officers. Reza did one of those programs. Does he deserve his rank in the military? No!
Reza Pahlavi is a loser.
And to all you Pahlavi worshipers, keep it up. I will just write more private material about the Pahlavi dynasty. I am ready to unload more detailed private information about the Pahlavi dynasty.
I have even met Farah Diba's female cousin at a party in Northern Tehran just several years ago.
I know the Pahlavis in and out. I've walked with high SAVAK men. I have spoken to Iranian Colonels and Generals from the Shah's time that live in Tehran and Mazandaran today.
I know information that will bring great humiliation to the Pahlavi family.
I have never disclosed such information because I do not wish to attack them personally on that level where I can cause them emotional harm.
Ms. Diba, Farahnaz, Reza, Ali Reza all deserve to have private lives. None of these people deserve to return to Iran and have political standing in Iran.
Iran should be ruled by Iranians. Iranians live in Iran. Democracy should come from inside Iran.
Iranians in the diaspora are by large, selfish.
You have your satellite programs and want to force your political views on 70 million innocent people.
I am here to stand up and say you are wrong.
I have that right and freedom as an American born Iranian to say that you are wrong. I know to some Iranians "Freedom of speech and Expression" should be abolished. Hitler and Stalin wanted it that way. I am opposed to such an argument. Let us have dialog.
And to all of you "Pahlavi worshippers"...
you guys really need...
to get a life.
And post it here on iranian.com when you get a life.
God bless America.
Zendeh Baad Amrika.
Zendeh Baad Azadi.

by Azarin Sadegh on Sun Jan 27, 2008 01:27 AM PSTI don't agree with you.
I think god's worst enemy is its believers.
Just by looking at this same thread you can see how much hatred is wasted on the subject. And how much Islam has been discredited and dammaged through this type of barbarian traditions.
Still most of god's believers wouldn't cut themselves or abuse their own kids by cutting their forehead to show their grief ovrer the death of an old guy who died 1400 years ago.
So before using the word "fool", please take a deeper look at these real "fools " in the video and don't let your blind belief drives your judgement about these "so called fools" consumed by their hatred of Islam, maybe because they lost their homes and their families and their freinds and worst of all their identity, almost like you.

I am of royal blood.
by Yohn Karpenter, Sexpert (not verified) on Sat Jan 26, 2008 05:58 PM PSTLet me introduce myself: I am from true royal blood, the glorious kings of ghajar. We are viciously against pahlavi shahs and vulgar towards all his family since they stole our god-given right to rule iran. That is why all of my family, although employed in pahlavi courts, are anti-pahlavi. therefore, We all thank emam and IRI for getting rid of the shah.
That is why, no matter what anyone else says, I am blindly anti pahlavi. Iran belonged to us and that reza khan mir-panj from mazandaran stole it from us. That meant a lot of money, from golden optium pipe, to golden ... that we used on our pleasure trips to europe.
Now you know the truth as to why I am so deservedly anti-shah. Iran belonged to us. Reza shah stole our property that was iran and its resources.
apparently people forgot
by Anonymous_limited (not verified) on Sat Jan 26, 2008 05:28 PM PSTapparently people forgot that religion and spirituality are intimate relashioships between one and one's higher power or whatever one believes in....these fools think they are demonstrating their love to their god by pounding onto their chests and singing bullshit songs...well if that god really needs this to see that these people are believers...maybe one ought to contemplate some more on who one is praying to...where do we go from here where the demonstration of the rituals of any style of spirituality become more important than being spiritual in humble way? Plus this demonstration also helps others create a picture and therefore an opinion about iranians in general...if this is what you wanted to do...why the hell didn't u stay back home? Plus for the record...iranians are not origionally muslims...islam was forced.

by New York Seenehzan (not verified) on Sat Jan 26, 2008 04:48 PM PSTNot only John Carpenter attends these Ashura events, but also he organizes them in New York City and Washington, D.C. John Carpenter's real name is Mohammad Reza Paloonabadi born in Qom, Iran. His father is an affluent and influential Haji Bazzari who amassed his wealth after the rise of the Islamic Revolution. Johnny boy alternates his residence between Qom and New York City. Needles to say that his older brother, Jafar Gholam Paloonabadi used to work for the Shah's Iranian consulate in New York City in the 5th floor of the GE Building at Rockefeller Center serving tee to the clients prior to getting shut down in 1980. I would be very careful about the Paloonabadi family since they swing on and to all sides.

Regarding Iranian American Shias and the NYC Mayor
by John Carpenter (not verified) on Sat Jan 26, 2008 02:43 PM PSTIt did not start with Bloomberg.
This event has been going on for many, many years in Manhattan.
The Iranian American Shia community in the New York Metro area, I tell you is very hypocritical and two faced.
This event was started by Pakistani and Arab Shias. And the masjid that began it was not even Iranian or Khamenei backed.
The Iranian American Shias show up to say they are the superpowers of the "Shia World". As I say, they are very Iranian nationalistic, very anti-monarchy, very anti-mujahedin khalq; and the Iranian American Shia organizers are both Pro-Khamenei and Pro-Ahmadinejad. As you can see the Iranian group stands alone. Why? because they don't like foreigners. The pakistani group that organizes the event is the first and most populous group. And let me tell you Musharraf is one of America's best men. The Shias run the show in Pakistan. Some sources say Musharaf is a closet Shia with a funny Iranian name like "Parveez?" (Parveez Musharraf-he spells the first name differently but it's all the same."
The Ashura event either started 20 to 25 years ago... Mayor Koch, Mayor Dinkins, Mayor Guiliani, Mayor Bloomberg.
I am not an event participant. I have been ordered to watch the event for many years and report on who attends the event.
My fluency in farsi and arabic help.
As I have said before, A SAVAK (intelligence)man is not made he is created by God.
For God and country, God bless America.
Once again, Ahmadinejad and Khamenei pose no threat to the US, they are powerless. They just need to be watched and put under surveillance.
They have a right to "freedom of religion" under the 1st Amendment of the US. I will uphold their right. Anything else may violate the "Patriot Act".
And Reza Pahlavi is just a parrot for "fox News". And Maryam Rajavi just informs us what is going on with Iran's nuclear technology. In the end the US wins. We always win.

This was a win-win situation.
by Concerned Iranian (not verified) on Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:45 AM PSTBoth these people and the New York Mayor have won in this game. I can only venturea a guess that whoever put this show in New York together had thought at the time that this was a "Great" idea. He or she must have been thinking: "On the one hand, we will show Americans how fierce we can be, and how we "celebrate" our Imam. On the other hand, (the thought was): "This is great! once they see this in Iran, we will receive even more money and benefits from our bosses in Iran." What is funny is that Mayor Bloomberg of New York must have been thinkng when he (and the NYPD)allowed the permit for this "parade":"We will let them make idiots out of the whole religion of Islam by letting a handful of zealots beat themselves. We will also show the world how tolerant we are by allowing even these seemingly would-be terrorists, our worst enemies openly parade around in New Your and preach hatred." Well, if you can see these two persepctives, this was a win-win situation for everyone involved, except for us Iranians and the Sunni Moslems, that is.
