This year the traditional Moharam procession was taken out in Manhattan, NY. The Procession is taken out in order to observe the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (A.S).

by Q on Thu Jan 24, 2008 06:22 PM PSTit was a great event. I'm already trying to organize something in southern california for next year.
Anyone who participated did not break any law and should not be ashamed or intimidated by intolerant fascists. There are dozens of events like this in New York celebrating ethnic ceremonies. In fact this group had a permit for a street demonstration and noise amplification. They are not hurting anybody or even insulting other people's religion or culture, quite contrary to the "civilized" bunch in this thread.
Go ahead. I dare any of you chickens to call the FBI. This is protected first amendment speech. No anonymous tips are accepted for something like this. It means if you call, you have to give your name and address which are recorded. And you will be exposed to a harrassment/libel suit, if it turns out you are full of shit (which you would be.)
Anonymous commenters who are fuming with hate and anger, really need to understand the concepts of freedom and tolerance. Some others who make wild and laughable claims about Iranians and Islam, really need to look up the word "denial" in the dictionary. Read it carefully.
Show your faces.
by Anonymous Iranian (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 05:41 PM PSTI remember in the beginning of the revolution khomeini promised endless freedom to people so they could express themselves without fear of reprise. Everyone came out and showed their faces and one by one people started to get rounded and executed. These idiots now all have FBI files...

Ashura in NY
by Kiana (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 03:51 PM PSTTribute to an army of primitive Arabs who attacked
our country, killed our men, raped our women and did everything to destroy our superior civilization.
Some of us Iranians must be really dumb for idolizing the murderers of our nation and those who are the cause of our collective misery even to this day.

The Islamo-Barbaric code and MO......
by Anonym (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 03:17 PM PSTWe, as Iranians, know that when these processions started in 1978, it was the final act that terminated the regime. Islamo-fascists have learned this back in 1978 and have been doing this sort of thing in the middle east for the past 30 years. They did this in Lebanon without much opposition, with Afghan/Paki Shia's and were slaughtered by the Sunnis, in Saudi Arabia (in 80's) and were slaughtered by Saudi security. Now in NY!
We know, and have seen, how the mullah's work the crowd into a frenzy and attack all symbols of modernity, or unIslamic. In 1978, these processions ended up attacking "western" women, burned liquor stores, banks, automobiles and……(list goes on and on), pure acts of vandalism and terror. They even attacked and took over the US embassy this way! This is their M.O.
This is an "in your face" act of provocation here in NY. They are asking for a confrontation and I hope they will get it soon. In '78, they were shot in the street and I hope NYPD/National Guard does the same NOW, SOONER THAN LATER!
They should deport all these terrorists

God or Dracula?
by Azarin Sadegh on Thu Jan 24, 2008 01:34 PM PSTWhy god would need to see so much blood pouring of these people's naked skin, including the very young children being cut and abused by their parents?
Is it God's mercy or Dracula's hunger?

Re: Good news
by jamshid on Thu Jan 24, 2008 01:31 PM PSTThe good news is that these people are going down the drain of history. They are being replaced with a new generation that go out in the streets on Ashura, not for sineh zani, but for dokhtar baazi.
Hossein was just a paapati and laat arab who was directly involved in the killing of our Iranian ancestors 1400 years ago. He was quoted by respectable historians (Tabari for example) saying that Iranians are only worthy to be arab slaves. If hossein was alive today, I would first rough him up with a baseball bat, then shoot the bastard.

Worse than what you may think......
by Anonym (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 01:11 PM PSTEveryone, this is more serious than you may think. These fucks will ruin everything our generation has built and lived for in the US. Our children, and us, will be equated with this crap now and in the future, the same repugnant savagery that brought us here 30 years ago. Do something about it NOW, or you might as well go back to IRI. This is a prelude to future terrorism and the coming Islamic savagery in the US. KICK THESE FUCKS OUT, NOW!

Hi, Well, that's not Imam
by Anonymous1 (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 01:01 PM PSTHi,
Well, that's not Imam Hossein who has the power, it is GOD almighty who has all the power. If GOD wanted he could help Imam Hossein and his family in the Day of Ashura, but the goal was to not make any magic move, so today after 1400 years you look at his movement and "after reading about "TRUE, PURE" history" you would appreciate his movement because it was purely to rescue Islam and human beings from wrong way. That was the goal, GOD chose Imam Hossein to passes his massage throughout the decades by his martyrdom.
kalafe: the unfortunate question you have to ask yourself
by yadolla (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 01:00 PM PSTis why Iranians living in the US would do such a thing when they are not "forced" to, as people on this site seem to believe. Same people wondered why there were hundreds of Iranians willing to meet with Ahmadinejad in New York. The answer means bursting the bubble of the "westernized" Monarchists who have created a fantasy that Islam in Iran is "fake." Time to face it. It's real, and it's now here. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can think clearly about the future of Iran.
But I think most of us will just pretend we never saw this, and go on bashing Islam as somehow alien and unpopular. A terribly cruel fantasy that has brainwashed many of the upper class educated Iranians.
To shakak,this is no cospiracy!
by Tahirih (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:59 PM PSTWhy do we always have to come up with a cospiracy theory!
These people are real and their action is real too.
How long we want to say this one is a spy of England and the other thing is done by Shaytaneh bozorg.
I know it is so painful to watch it that we want to say it is not us,but lets face it this is no conspiracy.
These people are for sure conected to IRI,but they are real.
So then who makes the people to stone or kill in Iran ,whose plan is that one?
Untill and unless we face our dysfunctional family ,we can not heal it.
I hope I was not harsh but My religion has been accused so much of being this or that countries plan ,that has made me allergic to the conspiracy theory!!
Regards,
Tahirih
How sad!
by Another Anonymous (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:57 PM PSTWhat are thse people doing in usa? These people belong to IRI. Apparently they want islamic oppression and fanaticism but not for themselves and only for the poor people inside iran.
Gullible iranians revolted to bring this into the dictation of government so that Iranians can re-live in 1400 years ago, while smarter arab countries, like dubai, abu dhabi, ... focused on their development instead and have put iran well behind in progress and prosperity.

I'm pretty twisted but. . .
by Aah the sweet psychosis (not verified) on Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:52 PM PSTHmmm let's see, in my life time I've tried drugs and alcohol, health and fitness, monogamy, celibacy and group sex (oh I can't wait for hastily typed frothing at the keys negative responses from the "one hand on the keyboard and the other on their crotch crowd").
I've read the bible (old and new testament), the Quran, and even a book on atheism.
The one combination even I've had the decency to not try (or maybe a faint hairthin grasp on reality) has been Gotham and Seeneh Zani. . . Guess I'll have something to look forward to when midlife hits and the anti-anxiety meds stop being effective! :)
It's beautiful
