Three short ones
by Rosie T.
16-Jan-2008

i. oh silent day
We will all be released

when we embrace both the captive and the captor

and comfort them.

My friend Matthew says when you are in prison

you have to wash your clothing in the toilet

because if you send it to the laundry

you will never get it back.

and Heraklitus says

the way up is the way down

and Rumi says

there is up and down

and back and forth

and left and right

and yet there is only one direction

and that is the way of Eshgh.

oh silent day

oh when he washed

ii the holy land
the holy land
is all around you

it is everywhere

above you inside you

the voices of your fathers

are not your voice

their horror too

this now can be silent

open your eyes o children of israel

it is time

surrender the ghost

iii Tree
Some seek truth by soaring the heights,

there where they would become one with the Boundless.

Others seek it plumbing the depths,

there where they would surrender and be Bounded.

And both of these ways are good for a time.

But the Boundless one soon becomes prisoner of his freedom

while the Bounded one in bondage knows little release.

Although I have somewhat preferred the second, I myself have tried both ways.

And I find myself thinking about the Sages of China.

They continually, patiently remind us

that there is no path and there is no way,

and that is both Path and Way.

We, they say. join heaven with earth.

But my roots still reach for the waters of the deep

while my leaves crave every fluctuation of the wind.

It is hard for me to embrace the paradox

that in contemplation of this very tension may lie peace.

Perhaps I am afraid to solve the koan.

So all I can do is continue to stand here

and trust that like a tree

I grow.

well....

by Farhad2008 (not verified) on

well, Nadja you told me thats its ROMAN who killed jesus and i answered watch the film JESUS by Mel Gibson, then you know who killed Jesus. Jews have been called for " Jesus- killer " In many yrs in europe , refresh you info ok ?
The tactic you and your freind are using is like the tactic Ahmadinejad use you dont have answer and you make other way to respons. You dratamize the situation by presenting yourselv and make it personally. Ok ive been muslim and now im jew, thats why i can say what i want but if you say anything againts me you are antisemetism!lol, When i talk about how the domination of JUDAISM works in the west you talk about your life! whats that? In this way you turn the subject and focus area to something else .. If you dont want to answer its ok but dont try usining tricks it doesnt works.
How can you rosie say its ok to discriminate ppl and deny free speech? we can not talk because 50 yrs ago something happened to jews? what about what israel did to palestine, why not using this modell, talking against palestines is being anti-semetism (they are semetic too). In 50 yrs you have told lies to european and called them for antisemetic many ppl diesapeared because they were against this direction and you consider this as a normally indident, and i dont!

Walt...

by Rosie T. on

I believe he has the potential to be a brilliant post-modernist poet.  I see brilliance here. And if you REGISTERED you could contact me PRIVATELY and tell me who you are....and I could....buy your book....Glad you enjoyed our exchange....translucent mold of me/it shall be you....

PS Of COURSE you're discouraging him.....ASSIDUOUSLY... :D

default

Thanks again Miss Rosie

by Walt Whitman Incarnate (not verified) on

My intention was not to discourage him. Again, as you know it, and as I know it, there is a difference between encouraging someone, and calling him "a brilliant post-modernist poet".

Regarding my Poetry, it is in publication. I am a highly recognized name. If you enjoy good, solid poetry, you should be able to recognize me :)

Again Thanks for this exchange. I enjoyed it very much!!

Rosie T.

Look Walt,

by Rosie T. on

I was only trying to say that if you are indeed Walt, I'd like you to be HEALTHY.  Just because it's pleasant.  See?

And also you know KS causes so much damage to the website discourse when he doesn't channel his energies properly, I really don't understand why you're being so negative.  Look at it this way, even if you can find ONE GOOD IMAGE here, and ONE small section with good rhythm, it seems to me the right thing to do would be to ENCOURAGE him....what you're doing is DIScouraging him, VERY harshly...and then if he goes back to sowing his seeds of discord, you'll blame him, right?  But you're rejecting....his CREATIVE side...why?

You and I know PERFECTLY well that two thirds of what passes for poetry here sucks moose's shit, if you'll pardon my French. Talking about the English ones, I mean. Of the remaining third, some is okay and a little is good. I didn't SAY no one was better than him, I just said he's better than most. And it's true. So WHY are you tearing him down?  He is a person who is so TORN between the Creative and the Destructive and he tries to create something and you....try to destroy it...why....?

I think you need to look at that walt.  With all due respect, I'd look at that if I were you...I really would...would you please do that for me? You see, I think...you're angry...and you want to destroy Kouroush's creative efforts...whatever their subjective merits may be to you...because...you see your own anger...in his mirror....that's what I sense....and well...

we will all be released/when we embrace both the captive and the captor/and comfort them....

anyhow, if you write poetry, I'd love to read it.  Why don't you register and post some, and stop back here and let me know which ones it is....

Thanks,
Rosie

Miss Rosie - re: Younger or Older Incarnation

Thank you Miss Rosie

for your prompt response.

In my own personal opinion, there are several other Poets on this site that produce far superior Poems. Draft or No Draft.

Rosie T.

Walt...

by Rosie T. on

it's barely a draft....he just wrote it today!  It has a lot of brilliance in it..  Give him credit.  Give him time.  It isn't even finished! Probably I should've made that clear.  It has....some....AMAZING....things....

give him time.... surely we can at least agree to agree that even in this initial state, it's BETTER than MOST of what is called poetry...uh...chez jj?  ;D

Thanks for stopping by--chez moi.

PS  If you truly are Walt incarnate, I hope the younger rather than the older incarnation.  You know of course how ill he became.

Miss Rosie - re: Poetry of Kouroush Sassanian

by Walt Whitman Incarnate (not verified) on

I read your comments on SCE Campaign blog on Amir Amrollahi.

First, let me thank you for bringing some semblance of order to that blog. I also read your comment regarding the Poetry of Mr. Kouroush Sassanian.

In that comment, you indicated that "he's a brilliant post-modernist poet".

I made a point of coming to this blog to see for myself. I have read the Poem.

I am not the kind of person who likes to denigrate anyone's taste. Poetry is very much a Personal Taste. But as someone who admires many of your qualities, I have to say, that I was quite disappointed by this poem.

Please forgive me for saying this, but I thought that you had Better Taste than this. This Poem is at best is a Second Rate duplication of what we find along the sidewalks of East Village in New York.

Again, thank you for bringing some order on the SCE Campaign Blog for Mr. Amrollahi.

To my Shabat = Shabbas!

by Kouroush Sassanian on

the guests' plunging their teeth against chalices

the slaves pour poison breathing heavy, quick - mix

light the stars last seen

evening, velvet canvas thrown on the ground -audiences crickets, ants, friends

sweat running with a chilled dagger from ancient decanters.

Their smiles from East to West and back trampling the tulips and breaking open the lies - cool, frigid chalice

With their aprons stretched out held in the corner of their mouths
they demand  souls from the depths
for offering aching heart, loved, lost, loved,

living in memories

breathing heavy, open the door pull back the curtain to light the candle - eyes heavy

death with ease.

The dead are laid with red tulips, even jasmine to her cover the decanter

upon far off shelves of history - to the right of betrayal, next to deceit

in the living  chests.
Around the lush table, break the shabbas bread to offer in my shabbat

we stare at the bloodless faces, jasmine, tulips embracing

Dear Farhad,

by Rosie T. on

The reason why Europeans are so sensitive to anti-Semitism is because they feel guilty about the Holocaust.  It is understandable, after all they practically exterminated the Jewish people there and now the governments try to protect them like an endangered species....as for Ahmadinejad, suggest you check out my commentson the home page under the article called "Ashura." You might be surprised.  As for 50% of the writers on iranian.com being Jewish...that is...quite....far-fetched.  If it's 5% it's a LOT.  WHERE on earth did you get this "knowledge."  Come now, Farhard, who is dreaming?  You're obviously reaching out to Nadia and me here for some REASON, so you may as well get something out of it....a little baby step even...concede that there are few Jewish writers here.  Concede that Europeans SHOULD protect the Jews (although sometimes they do overrreact in their protection...), concede that Nadia is not Jewish....concede that I am not a Zionist...concede SOMETHING.....every day's a new day...don't be exactly the same tomorrow as you are today...you are living with....mucho....mucho....hijab.....psychological hijab....

Nadias

Rosita this is the comment I posted another thread for

by Nadias on

Farhad2008. This person based their view of me calling them anti-Semitic based on the following posted comment, which I reread. I find his thinking on the matter incorrect.

Also, I would like to restate for Farhad2008 what you mentioned Rosita on another thread. I was born into Christianity and was a Christian for 38 or 39 years. I then converted to Islam this year. I am Mexican-American. I do not consider myself overly religious and have a great understanding and appreciation for many religions and cultures. I also prefer not to preach to others but do clarify things when I see there is need for it.

**********************

The following is the comment I am reposting here:

It was the Romans who tortured and crucified Jesus not the Jews. Also, not all Jews were and are against Jesus. You need to be cautious in your use of words or you might be seen as anti-Semitic.

From your other statements you seem to have an appreciation for all religions so I don't believe you to be anti-Semitic.

I am also sure you are aware that there are Muslims of many different ethnic backgrounds. Meaning there are Hispanic, Anglo, Iranian, Arab, French, African, etc ......Muslims. The same applies to other religions or nonreligious people.

People have  also been telling KS similar things about his erroneous and gross over generalizations of people and religions throughout the website for weeks if not months now but KS does not want to change his mind.

I didnt spesifeid anything againt you, i wrote about facts and how world is running. And i think its not correct that anyone says many stupid things ( like ben madadi did ) and you say you know them! You are not different to any other user in iranian.com and i dont see any reason that you should be! this is not any private site, i can possibly know some ppl but i cant defend theirs option because i know them!
Users write about their options, thefore its not correct to make views personally. Your experience in your life is urs, my history is different, I dont see any reason that i would be better than other because im good in ..writing novels! and i dont dramatize facts for making attention. Its easy to make attention but soon / later ppl undrestand whats differece between facts & novel.

Rosie T.

Dear Farhad, Nadia

by Rosie T. on

I know Nadia very well, we speak regularly by phone, and I'm sure she didn't mean to accuse you injustly of anything.  She also happens to have the memory of an elephant so I'm inclined to believe her account of the exchange you had with her.  And I'm not quite sure what you want from me, but if you want my input on that exchange, please post me a link and I'll read it.  Also as for your other stuff here, Farhad, I'm not sure what you want. Do you want me to comment on Judaism/Zionism itself/Zionism as a possible tool for world domination/anti-semitism/anti-semitism among Jews?  Are you familiar with my views?  Are you clear about them?  If you want to pursue this, please (re)-read my comments on Daryush's thread, dated December 30, Anywhere but Israel before we do....and then please clarify as well as you possibly can what issues you would like me to address, and in order of priority.  Finally, the second poem here is an anti-Zionist poem.  I trust it's obvious so I don't really understand why you are saying "you" (ostensibly ME) want "your" (ostensibly "my") people to have world domination.  Please clarify.

Ahmandinejad- West

by Farhad2008 (not verified) on

As you know if you make any critism about juwish . judaism / what ever you call it in europe, youll be called anti semetism and then who knows what will happen to you, at the first youll lose ur jobb, the system makes you week and if they dont win who knows what will happen to u after that, Im talking only about free speech, but in otherwise what ever you say against muslims the system supports you.. now i like to ask you whats dirrence " Ahmadinejad " who kills and " The West " which use ignoring from society / isolated /... I know one day ill have problem with the system, if not today one day your ppl will make problem for me, im not afraid i would have the same problem if i was living in Iran too. what im saying is what many others see but they are afraid to be called for antisemetism. Im not sure how many iranian jews exist world wide but i know more than 50% writers in iranian.com are jews, you say what you want to anyone you want and then if they say anything you, you call them antisemetic! and ppl around the world are stupid and dont see this.. have a nice dream!

Nadias

Farhad2008 please do get it straight

by Nadias on

I did not call you anti-Semitic. I explained to you that your choice of words would be considered by some as anti-Semitic and adviced you on a better way of communicating your thoughts.

I also said that by your other comments, I could tell that it was not your original intent.

So, please do not accuse me of something that is not.

about nadia...

by Farhad2008 (not verified) on

Nadia has called me Anti semetic, Because i do react to why jews change nickname and say what they want to muslims but if i ask the same of jews they call me anti semetic, This is how they controll the world if you say anything to them ure anti
-semetic but they has turned all medias attention against muslims and its ok! semetic = SAMI and its about race ARABS + JEWS and in this case jews are the most antisemetic ppl in the world.. they are everywhere ( mostly on internet) and.. what kind of religion is this ??? why do you have controll on ppl putting them on jail and call them for antisemetic for what?? how do you behave muslims around the world and what do u expect? How long would it go? Beleive me im NOT alone.. many ppl are able to see this! I dont need to be any politition to see this kind of discrimination its very simple. You want that ppl accept your domination in the world but you use unfair way to making this happen.

I'm weak on...

by Rosie T. on

naturalist intelligence, very weak, and so-so on spatial..  I'm excellent on the logical but so-so on the mathematical, which makes me wonder (in my logical way) if they might not perhaps be two separate but related categories, as indeed naturalist and spacial are related--which would (logically) explain why I'm weak on both of them.  I think I'm solid on the other ones. I was always linguistically, logically and musically gifted.  I had to WORK very hard to become good at the kinesthetic, and inter/intra persona ones but....hey....I've had a half century to do so....and I've met with some success.  Actually, something's MISSING here you know...well YOU KNOW!   Where is mytho-symbolic intelligence?  And where is SPIRITUAL intelligence....recognition of the "atom of light"?  Ah well I'll have to write to Dr. Gardner about it...

Love ya,
Rosie Tozih

Nadias

Rosita our conversation reminded me of......

by Nadias on

Dr. Howard Garnder's Multiple Intelligence theory which is as follows:

Linguistic intelligence ("word smart")

Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")

Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")

Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")

Musical intelligence ("music smart")

Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")

Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")

Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")

PS: We all have many different talents which also makes us unique and life more interesting. :o)

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

To observer1 and Nadia

by Rosie T. on

Ob1, thank you for your lovely comments about me. As for HE, I'm not ignoring him, I'm simply modifying the nature of our discourse.  Please check out KS's first two featured blogs on Islam if you're interested in the shape things are taking. Actually I replied to him here and I shall continue to do when I feel it's right.  When he gets ridiculous I shall stop and he understands this.  KS is my friend...and he's his own worst enemy...and well...I think everything will be fine.

Nadia, you have such a way of getting to the "roots" of things...your access to songs and poems and imagery is extraordinary.  I wish I had your googling talents for art.  You really drove home to me the sacred meaning of Tree.  Interestingly, I was reading last night about proto-Indoeuropean (Aryan) religion...it seems that from Scandinavia to India, with the exception of Greece, the TREE OF LIFE was one commonality that all these tribes shared on the vast Eurasian landmass.  Wow!  Zendeh baad darakhte zendegi.

Dear Rosie

by observer1 (not verified) on

Its good to see that you learned to IGNORE this guy who so desperately seeks attention by being loud and obnoxious with comments that have nothing to do with your articles and in this case with your poems. I mean who cares where this person ,that no one has seen, is from..how he was raised etc etc and what does that have to do with your beautiful poems?!! Why does he think it matters to us?!

He always tries to get attention by walking all over people's thoughts and you always can see the word "I" so many times in his paragraphs because that is as far as he can see.

I know I should not give him attention wither and I usually don't, but I wanted to simply congratulate you for learning to simply not give him the attention that he does not deserve and he so desperately seeks at all costs to others.

NO NEED TO REPLY, (although HE might with his hateful blahs..)

......beautiful poems......
