Several points about the latest BS written by the master of BS himself, Mr. Amir Taheri. Yes the same man who enlightened the World last summer with "news" that Jews in Iran had to bear identifying badges.
The article appearing in the NY Post aims at hitting several birds with one dirty stone provided by Mr. Taheri's bosses.
a) Inciting to ethnic unrest and consequent bloodshed based upon an incident where one of many illegal fishers in the Caspian (this time a Turkmen) was killed in a clash with authorities.
b) Provoking regional unrest by relating the gas dispute with the republic of Turkmenistan to this local incident.
c) inciting religious unrest between Shiites and Sunnis.
d) Tying the whole thing to Ahmadinejad's economic policies according to some observers! Mr. Taheri is very adept at finding (creating) these observers (American Enterprise Institute, perhaps?).
Dear Mr. Taheri, and alike, we know that you, like all of us here in the west, have to earn a living and pay rent -- but at what price? You are willing to provoke conflicts where there are none with consequent bloodshedding just because you are against the present regime in Iran?
Maybe, we Iranians of the diaspora that earn a living by legitimate means and working our asses of to make ends meet, should also set aside a fund where we can contribute to these has-beens so that maybe they will not commit these stupidities and just sit at home and SHUT UP.

The last time Amir Taheri was almost O.K.
by Nader Vanaki (not verified) on Wed Jan 16, 2008 03:49 PM PSTThe last time Amir Taheri did anything that can be decribed as journalism, writing, or analysis was about 25 years ago. Since then, he has been a rumor journalist-that is he makes things up and reports on it. And also take a look at NY Post and you will find that it is the tabloid newspaper of NYC. So Amir khan has descended into tabloid journalism from his golden age of editor of Iranian daily magazine. I think he should consider a 7 Elven store somewhere in LA.
amazing
by Qute (not verified) on Wed Jan 16, 2008 02:36 PM PSTIt amazes me that this clown continues to get published after having been proven to be a fraud more than once. It clearly shows how "free" US media is. What is more amazing is bozos like Ben Madidi coming to his defense.
The burden of proof goes both ways
by Daily Chicken (not verified) on Wed Jan 16, 2008 03:07 AM PSTWe challenge Mr. Taheri to prove his rantlings first. No more "experts", "observers", sources close to government", "sources not wanting to be identified" etc.
He is famous for his completely biased so-called reporting and his fellowship with Benador Associates does not help his reputation either.
For him, the end justifies the means...but I'll be damned if i let be my end, but you Mr. Madadi, on the other hand are welcome.
About Mr Taheri
by Ben Madadi on Wed Jan 16, 2008 01:43 AM PSTI don't know much about Mr Taheri, but I don't think it is okay to accuse one person, publicly, that he is "selling out" himself, i.e. betraying his country, or having hidden intention because he is paid and so on. These are grave accusations and must be proved. I read the article. The article says, among other things, that the Turkmen are not allowed to build Sunni mosques in their areas, while the government is trying to convert them to Shiism, and building Shia mosques in the majority-Sunni area of Golestan. The article says that the government is appoiting Shia, non-Turkemn, governors for Golestan. I am not very aware of what is going on in Golestan province of Iran and about the Turkem people over there but we all know that the IRI government is perfectly capable of doing such things and I see no problem in providing such information so that other people know too. These Turkmen are also Iranian and their problems may be more and worse than many other Iranians' problems.
Amir Taheri - Roya Hakakian
by An Onymous (not verified) on Tue Jan 15, 2008 08:15 PM PSTIt is obvious that these "Iranian-born" individuals have not so hiden dual loyalties. Their real allegiance is in Israel and not in USA. We should expose them as the not-so-hidden fifth column that they are.
