We, trade unionists in Tehran and other cities, extend our warm greetings to you from half way across the world. Please forgive us for not sending you a video message. Unfortunately trade unionism is considered a dangerous offense by the Iranian government and labor activists here are persecuted like dangerous criminals. Hence the need for extra caution even in a simple message of greeting such as this>>>

On the one hand, I can't wait to taste all the new cool ear-candy Arash Sobhani has picked out for me, from the candy shop of treats in his head. Arash Ali Wonka. On the other, there is a pragmatic fatalistic Iranian innate fear in me that always hovers just far enough out to like here- that at some point Sobhani is going to fizzle>>>

Cyrus’s throat is painfully dry as the deafening scream of the alarm clock wakes him up around half past five the following morning. In disbelief, he feels that his throat is about to crack open every time he swallows. Remembering a remedy prescribed by his mother, he gargles warm water with a pinch of salt before taking a shower. He hopes it may temporarily ease the painful dryness. By the time he washes down two slices of buttered toast with a cup of hot tea sweetened with honey, he senses his body temperature is rising>>>
