The tragic death of Alireza Pahlavi happened barely two weeks after the release of The King’s Speech, a popular film about the psychologically tormented younger brother of Britain’s heir to the throne. Watching the film so soon after Alireza’s suicide, I suspect he missed this inspiring work of art that had appeared in time to speak to him. The vivid portrayal of Prince Albert--who later became King George VI through an improbable twist of fate—would have lifted his spirit and occupied his mind with positive thoughts of his burden>>>

When I signed up to attend the recent women’s meeting in Irvine, titled Pathways to Success, I thought it best to keep my expectations low. I knew the conference was coordinated by Coastline Community College and Coastline Foundation, whose executive director happens to be an Iranian-American, Ms. Maryam Khosravani. در باره سیر حرکت عظیم مردمی که این روزها در مصر در جریان است، و آینده این کشور، گمانه‌زنی‌های زیادی صورت گرفته است. این گمانه‌زنی‌ها از برآمدن یک حکومت اسلامی بنیادگرا گرفته تا استقرار یک دموکراسی لیبرال را در بر می‌گیرد. جهان غرب از یک سو و دولت‌ها و ملت‌های منطقه از سوی دیگر با اشتیاق تمام این تحولات را دنبال می‌کنند. همگان تقریبا بر این نکته اتفاق دارند که آن چه امروز در مصر می‌گذرد اثراتی به مراتب وسیع‌تر از محدوده مرزهای آن خواهد داشت. برخی آن را با انقلاب ۱۳۵۷ ایران مقایسه می‌کنند. گروهی اهمیت آن را با سقوط بلوک کمونیسم در آغاز دهه ۱۹۹۰ میلادی برابر می‌گیرند>>>

The events in Egypt in the past week has given the government of the Resolute Nation a pretext to tout its own horn as a mover and inspiration for what is going on in the Arab world. According to the BBC Persian, the Iranian media in the last few days hve been taking to the claim that the developments in Egypt and Tunis are reflections of the Iran’s revolution in Bahman of 1357. This level of cheek (roo) is so obscene that it deserves a hearty shishaki>>>
