ابن میَمون

ابن میَمون قرطبی یکی از آخرین فیلسوفان "دوره ی زرین" حاکمیت مسلمانان در اندلس و مغرب بود که به پیروی از ابن رشد، فارابی و ابن سینا گرایش به نزدیک کردن فلسفه ی ارسطو به دین داشت. فلسفه ی او به سن اکویناس کمک کرد تا به فقه کاتولیک نظمی اسکولاستیک بدهد و از سوی اسپینوزا و دیگر فیلسوفان دوره ی روشنگری چون نقطه ی آغازی برای صعود به قله ی خردگرایی به کار گرفته شد>>>

برخوردهای قوم‌گرایانه و نژادگرایانه مختص جامعه ایران نیست و در همه جوامع کم و بیش به چشم می‌خورند. مشخصه این برخوردها نگاه تحقیرآمیز به اقوام و نژادهای دیگر و تعمیم یک خصوصیت (منفی) به مجموعه یک قوم یا نژاد (دیگر) است. در فرهنگ و زبان ایرانیان نمونه‌های این برخوردها کم نیست، و ضرب‌المثل‌ها و جوک‌هایی که در بین فارسی‌زبانان ایرانی در باره ترک‌ها، کردها، لُرها و عرب‌ها و مانند آنان ساخته و نقل می‌شود از مظاهر بارز این برخورد است.>>>

Barikalla Berkeley!

Actor/director/writer Parviz Sayyad will be coming to UC Berkeley this Friday April 6 for a screening of his 1983 film, The Mission. Afterwards he’ll stay around for a Q & A session. The event is part of UC Berkeley’s Iranian Film Festival made possible by a grant from the Parsa Foundation, so the shows and lectures are free to the public. The Mission is a good fit for the festival partly because the film captures the immediate post-revolution discourse among Iranian diasporans>>>
