Dear Friends,
iranian.com has been through many changes in its nearly 17 years of existence. The only constant has been my editorship. That too is about to change.
Starting next month I will no longer be having a role in management. I have sold my shares to my partner Saïd Amin and will be pursuing a new project. For the next few months I will stay on as a caretaker editor until a replacement is found.
Any dynamic organization needs to carry on independently without relying on one person. This is a big step in that direction, followed by major changes in design in the near future. These much-needed changes will revolutionize your experience on iranian.com with the latest tools and gadgets.
My experience with iranian.com has been a blast. It truly has. Every single day has been full of fun and excitement, so much so that no amount of hardship or disappointment ever had a lasting impact. At some point I might reflect on the meaning of it all, but the only judgement that counts is yours.
I want to express special thanks to my dear friend Nazy Kaviani for contributing much of the best content in the past few years and being a tremendous help in maintaining the site as a volunteer. I could not have managed without her good taste and dedication.
But the biggest Thank You goes to You for feeling comfortable with contributing thousands and thousands of pages of your aspirations and frustrations. And you can continue to do so. iranian.com will always be your home.
Lots of love

This came to me as a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge surprise. You have done a truly fantastic job with the founding and managing the Iranian.com. This has been an historic phenomenon: a place where Iranians of diverse and hostile politics to gather and exchange their views and politics.
I thank you for creating such a fantastic site. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

by Siavash300 on Wed May 02, 2012 06:14 PM PDTDear J.J
Surely you will be missed J.J. I have been on this site since a year ago and I was happy to see you as adminstrator. I loved some of your literatures. They were great. At the end, I wish you the best. Love to read more of you again. Let us know where you are and what you are doing.
Best,

Dear Mr. Amin,
Welcome to this site as adminstrator. As VPK said we love to see some of those who were banned to come back again, even though we didn't like to hear some of their comments, but diversity makes a big differences. Diversity is important for direction that Iran will be heading to. We like to hear more about you as well.

My heartfelt thanks for your hard work and style of providing us the connection with voices, both ordinary and extraordinary, near and far.
I look forward to seeing your next website in full blossom.

This now conjures up the distant memory of Aftab TV network and what followed in the mid 90's when I was proudly among the first few to be approached with this novel idea of Iranian.com by YOU!
You have certainly taken online media, espcially for the free exchange of views and ideas among us the irannians, especially those in diaspora and the US in particular, to a new HGHER level !
Kudos Copmatriot, as I am quite confident you are grwoing anotehr novel idea to launch in your sleeves as we speak..

by Saïd Amin on Tue May 01, 2012 07:27 PM PDTHello Darius, good to e-meet you! I appreciate your concern/question. Past content will most certainly not be erased when we move to the new platform. Most likely, the content will be archived, but still available for viewing. There's a slim possibility that we will be able to migrate content to the new platform. I will keep you and others apprised...

Urgent Question For Mr. Said Amin ( regarding new IRDC )
by Darius Kadivar on Tue May 01, 2012 11:20 AM PDTDear Sir,
I hope this email finds you well.
Having been a contributor for more than 10 years to IRDC and having had the honor of being amongst the initial feature writers and contributors of this website in it's early stages I would like to ask if all our contributions to date notably in term of blogs and articles posted here will be archived ?
They represent a great deal of hard work, 10 years of my intellectual life puncuatated with passionate creativity.
Even if not everything is necessarily copyrighted in terms of images and content the general form of the blogs are an intellectual property and they are extremely important to me for a number of personal and professional reasons.
Notably because I need to refer to them for research for a book I am writing but also for a degree I am preparing for University.
If Not I would like to have enough time to copy these items before they get entirely deleted due to an eventual change of editorial policy.
I say this with much concern for all the hard work and dedication to the enhancement of this website on a personal level through my passionate contributions through the years and where I hope they helped raise awareness, educate and entertain fellow readers and compatriots across the world who were kind enough to read me and encourage me through the years.
That is why I would like to know if all this content will be available in the future under the new version of IRDC and if our content will remain intact ?
If not then you may have on your conscience another Suicide in our community (sic) ...
please tell us if there is a deadline and one which will be reasonable enough for me to transfer all my contributions to a hard disk.
Thank you in advance for your response,
Darius KADIVAR
Iranian.com Feature Writer and Contributor since August 28th 2000

Sorry AND terribly Surprised to hear this ...
by Darius Kadivar on Tue May 01, 2012 11:40 AM PDTSorry to hear this JJ,
You will be missed. And I can never thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this website in my own capacity.
I just wish you had let us known of your intentions in advance.
But I am also worried about what our blogs and their contents will become with the new Iranian.com format. Will they be archived and available ?
//iranian.com/main/user/45
They represent 10 years of contributions and I would like to know if they will remain ? If not I would like to be able to transfer them to a hard disk or DVD / CD if all this risks to be deleted.
Please Stay in touch and hope to see you again in Person in Paris or elsewhere in this huge and crazy world.
All the best to you and your future endeavors.
Best,
Darius

JJ, thanks and so long
by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on Tue May 01, 2012 02:05 AM PDTAlthough the past couple of years have seen a decline in the quality of contributions, this can not be attributed to the editors/managers of the site as they have always observed freedom of speech for all but the chronic vulgars.
I hope a Ted-Turner-CNN style deal is not the cause of your departure and I wish the best for you in your future ventures.
Best regards.
Our shares!
by Reza Bayegan on Tue May 01, 2012 01:25 AM PDTDear JJ,
We understand you have sold your shares and you want to move on, but if it was up to us we would never sell our shares in having you as an embodiment of all those good things an editor should be: passionate, loving, tolerant and intelligent. You will be dearly missed. Thank you for everything JJ!
Lots of love, Reza and Coryn

Best of luck in whatever new things you plan to do. There is a time when people must move on and I fully understand your desire to move to another endeavor. Thanks for building IC and have fun whatever you do.
Dear Amin,
Welcome and I hope you have a fruitful tenure here. I have a few suggestions which are of course just my opinions:
It is very helpful if you write a blog as MM said. Introduce yourself and your ideas for IC. It would also be great if you would take this opportunity to welcome back people who are currently banned. Many of them are great bloggers; some not so great :-) It will give IC a new beginning and a clean slate. Being an optimist I hope we get back some of the spice!
Best

Dear S. Amin
by MM on Mon Apr 30, 2012 02:56 PM PDTA few days before JJ's announcement, I entered IC and was immediately greeted with a page noting the rules and regulations of IC. I did not have time to read it at the time on my phone, and I do not know if that was intentionally placed for all IC readership, but it would help us a lot if you put up a blog to introduce yourself and give us a flavor of what will be the same or different at IC. Thanks.
