البته واضح و مبرهن است که هم علم و هم ثروت در دنیای کنونی از یک قماشند و اگر بخواهیم در این میان از بین تمام ایده الهای انسانی یکی را به عنوان تاثیرگذار در اصلاح اشتباهات نسل بشر برگزینیم بهتر انستکه بگوئیم عشق تنها راه نجات انسان از شر علم و ثروت است
تنها عشق است که میتواند علم و ثروت را به راه راست اورد و بعنوان منجی انسانیت راه صواب را به علم و ثروت بیاموزد!
علم در دنیای امروز ما و در پیشرفته ترین کشورها به عنوان مثال در موردعلم پزشکی با عنوان تمرین و یادگیری مورد استفاده قرار میگیرد و این یعنی انکه در واقع ما چیزهائی را میدانیم که به اصالتشان بر مبنای علمی چندان مطمئن نیستیم و در مورد ثروت که دیگر جای بحث نیست چون از کوزه همان برون تراود که در اوست و مشکلات کنونی دنیا تنها از عطش سیری ناپذیر انسان به کسب ثروت سرمنشا گرفته و خدا اخر و عاقبت ما را با این عطش شهوتگونه به خیر نماید.
و اما عشق بعنوان یک احساس قابل کنترل و البته کاملا مثبت میتواند که هم به علم و هم به ثروت جهت داده و از انان بعنوان ابزاری مادی برای رسیدن به معنویتی در شان انسان استفاده نماید.
پس با این توضیحات به این نتیجه میرسیم که نه علم و نه ثروت هیچکدام قابلیت تثبیت انسانیت را ندارند و برای بچه هایمان بهتر است که موضوعاتی را مطرح نمائیم که حداقل خودمان قادر به توضیح نکات مثبت و منفی ان موضوعات باشیم.

Become a cat, Suri jaan!

Suri Jaan, if you are entertaining the idea, then I suggest that you become a cat! You'll have khoda and khorma in one stroke. My cat eats and sleeps during the day, gets plenty of strokes and cuddles in the evening, and there comes 10 o'clock and she is out of the door, fur coat and all!! She disappears into the mysterious night, full of moths and frogs and mice, sleeps in many gardens, walks the streets, and comes home in the morning, damp cold fur, happy to be in and purring her way into the kitchen ...

My dog on the other hand, has to wait to be fed, to be walked, and is generally praised when he obeys and is funny, NEVER when he runs away, pulls on the lead and hunts! A dog's life really!!

I like the notice on your office door. Of course :)

A few quick words before I take off for what promises to be a fab weekend.

I had to write an essay once, the title of which was "My life as a dog".  I chose to be a family pet. Others in the classroom were more adventurous and wrote about life in the wild.  Our English teacher, Miss Brown, was a 'romantic' sort and clearly open to any and all - a pet owner, whose tea-cup terrier accompanied her to all the classes. She gave me a B for effort and A for imagination.

I am not a wild type so know little of the wild life other than Discovery channel and Animal Planet.

You ask me which is better. I know I prefer to be a pet to someone in real life and save the 'wild side' for my imagination (and my writing). How would an animal answer that? Well you have to ask the animal. 

How's that for dodging the bullet? ;)

At the expense of sounding

like a mechanical robot, while enjoying the comments greatly, I find in them a diversion of objectivity to the subjective realm. Also, I smell a bit of demonization of money.

The same way that great science can be abused, so would great amount of money. But reality is, money and science can be used in fantastic ways, they are both great to have, and often a well based science brings good money. On the other hand, having a good foundation in science which means having a good head to begin with, makes one spend the money in a good way. Let's not demonize being rich, it is not objective. I personally have greater respect for Bill Gates for his fantastic foundation than a lot of scientists.

Azarin's comment on her teacher Mr. Mohebian, and Solo's comment which I totally agree with, reminded me of an annecdote. I mean this Solo's comment:

"There are a lot of people with money who have and are making a big difference in the world.  BIG. Let's give credit where credit is due. Museums, art galleries, libraries - places that house art are supported by lovers - of - art - who - have - money.  

And let's not forget Poshte har bokhoree yeh nakhoree hast. "

Humans have ego and reason which is a direct result of having a brain. Animals don't.  Their search for more and more stems from that 'brain'.

There was a time in my life when I worked at an institution where they hired mentally retarded individuals. These people were 'evaluated' on the % of human that they were and paid accordingly.  For e.g.  x was 70% human so x got paid by company y 70% of the minimum wage and the state picked up the rest.  I found those people to be closest to 'angels' - sweet, kind, pretty much devoid of any type of greed, highly trusting, loyal and friendly. Make from it what you will but there is - it appears a 'burden' with having a 'brain'. Sometimes half of one is better :)

I have great respect for animals. I raised my infant daughter with a dog who taught me many important life lessons.

Apologies to Mr.Yassari for the slight tangent, but please name me one animal that acts out of an unjustified sense of pride, greed, or big ego and belittles its peers, and I will accept that this a "khesliyat heyvani".

In my humble opinion, we humans can still learn a thing for two from animals.

در اخرین انشای علم یا ثروت من نوشتم دانش بهتر است ولی بدون عشق نمیشود زندگی کرد.  حتی دانش واقعی بدون عشق به دانستن میسر نیست.
خانم حسامی گفت خیلی عشق عشق کردی ماندا. هیچ صحبت از عشق نبود. برو ١٣. خیلی پکر شدم . ولی تجره زندگیم میگه خیلی هم خوب نوشتم.

‫همه میخواهیم ذره ای مثل حافظ باشیم. بله، سؤال اصلی اینکه: همکه میریم و میایم، چرا اینقدر بدی و زور میگیم؟ جواب اولیهء من اینکه، بشر هنوز نتوانسته از ان خوی حیوانی, خودش را نجات بدهد. بالا رفتن و دیگری را خورد کردن خصلت حیوانیست. البته این موضوع تمام ابعاد این مسئله را توجیح نمیکند ولی فکر کنم جواب کلی، این مسئله را در بر دارد.

Zero sum game

The way this question is posed produces a lot of anxiety and no answer.  It implies a zero sum game where choice of one excludes the other.  Any reasonable person knows that some of each in addition to some of all sorts of other things in life are necessary.  In its effect it is similar to a much worse question of do you like your mother more or your father? With the exception of people who may have had a really bad experience with one parent it is so anxiety producing to try to answer this question and at the end how can you answer? 

Bottom line, I think it is an unfair question.  It does not serve any purpose to posit these two concepts (wealth and knowledge) against each other and not on the same side.  Come to think of it maybe it is this persistant and seemingly innocent composition topic that is the culprate in creating our collective national restlessness.  Did Flying solo say something about the British earlier? !!!!!!!
