HOPE

HOPE

I sit quietly in the shadows.

Looking out the window.

I see the weeping willow,

swaying in the wind.

A distant voice I hear.

I hear my mother's voice,

calling "it is time to eat".

I quickly dry the drops,

of sorrow from my face.

It is time to play the part,

I know too well.

I turn and smile at her,

as if nothing wrong exists.

I pretend to be so strong.

I suffer silently and alone.

No point in sharing my demise.

Nothing that can be done.

Only time controls my fate,

or so they tell me every time.

How to defeat the sands of time?

Dazed looking at the weeping willow.

No matter how strong the wind blows,

it does not break, it will not yield.

Instead it dances in the wind.

I do wish for better things to come.

I dream of a day without pain and sorrow.

Again, I hear my mother's voice.

Awoken from my trance, the shadows are no more.

I smell the Menudo cooking on the stove.

Comforted by familiar sights, sounds and scents.

I hope to see my sons become men.

So, I must not yield to the sands of time.

I must fight back with all my strength.

I must control this dance.

I believe that wherever there is hope there is life.

I am forever set free..........

Hi Natalia,

Nice blog photo and great poem! Weeping Willow always reminds me of the Orient! Last summer, I visited Beijing, every historical park I visited has weeping willow! Here in US, I don't see weeping willow trees very often! I guess it depends on where you live!

Here is a weeping willow love song:

Thank you for mentioning my favorite Mexican food, Menudo! I order menudo a lot when I go to Swapmeet! Initially I thought it will take 24 hours to cook Menudo, so it won't taste like rubber band, and then I found a recipe that it only takes 4-5 hours to cook it! One of these days, I will cook it myself!

My favorite verses are:

So, I must not yield to the sands of time.

I must fight back with all my strength.

I must control this dance.

I believe that wherever there is hope there is life.

I am forever set free..........

Your poem is beautiful and touches one's heart. Thanks for sharing it with us. My favorite lines are:

Dazed looking at the weeping willow.

No matter how strong the wind blows,

it does not break, it will not yield.

Instead it dances in the wind.

Thank you for the advice on the names. I believe my Persian friend that translated it for me many years ago intended for it to be the way that it is pronounced which is why it has so many aaaaaaa.

:o)

Thank you for the spelling for Natalie, that I did not have.

Esfand Aashena

Natalie nice poem.

I hope all is well

I noticed you're using

 ناتالیا

in your blog title

I hope you realize

 ناتالیا

is pronounced as Naataalia

If you want Natalia it would be

 نتالیا

unless you want Natalie which would be

 نتلی!

Everything is sacred
